The site is well grassed and provides abundant shade from the overhead canopy. Best shade is in the morning when you want to sleep in. There is a tranquil creek on the eastern side of the camp and horses and hand reared cattle graze on the western paddock. You need to be a self-contained camper with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. Bring some books, set up a hammock and laze the days away. Beaches on the coast and beautiful Jervis Bay are 20 Minutes away. The Jervis Bay region has much to offer so if you're up for adventure, bring your kayaks and snorkelling gear. Our beaches have the whitest sand in the world. Why not check out the dolphin and whale cruises and get up and personal with the marine life.The property is 3 km off the Princes Hwy. Orange Grove was established in 1856 on the banks of the cylde River Nelligen.
It is set on 40 acres nestled on the edge of the Village of Nelligen, (15min Walk to its cafe and pub) and 8km west of Batemans Bay (10mindrive).
Our camp grounds are set up on the Clyde's banks, all able to support enough area and access for 2wd, 4wd, RV and Car Camper set ups.
Orange Grove, has a small basic boat ramp (there are public ramps 2mins down the road). With a beach and pontoon, you are able to leave your boat in the river for the duration of your stay. Batemans Bay is 15min down stream, an easy ride to pick up items not found in Nelligen.
Our camp ground has a covered area with BBQ Facilites, tables, chairs, Water, fire pit (used in under the correct conditions), a toilet (Bring own Toilet paper).
We are pet friendly, however we do have wildlife on the property and livestock, so we ask that have full control and take responsibility of your pets.
We always have a presence on the property and have good Telstra coverage, so although you feel a million miles from nowhere you also feel secure.

1. CAPACITY - We are able to host only a single campsite comprising a single tent or caravan for no more than two nights duration only. This will ensure compliance with NSW State Govt regulations that are policed heavily by Eurobodalla Shire Council. Please do not plan to erect a second tent – this may result in a fine that we will pass on to you. We apologise if this prohibits your larger family and small group from enjoying our property (which we strongly believe should be permitted.
2. SITE AMENITIES - The camp is best suited to adventurous campers with swags, tents, rooftops, light camping trailers and small popup caravans. There is a flushing toilet, a hot shower, running (dam) water, and firepits but no electricity or refrigeration. We have fire pits available for guests use, please ensure there are no restrictions in place before lighting a campfire in the designated firepit. FREE FIREWOOD is available on site.
3. ROAD ACCESS - The last couple of km of dirt track are undulating and dusty, but perfectly fine for all vehicles in dry conditions. Access and exit will become challenging for larger motorhomes and caravans, heavy camping trailers and 2WD vehicles (especially front-wheel-drive), after periods of heavy or prolonged rain. We will refund your booking fee if you choose to cancel, or we close the property, due to the weather (it will need to be bad for us to close the property, so you won’t want to be there anyway). Please message us in advance for advice if you are concerned about the weather or vehicle access.
4. PETS - Well behaved pets are welcome but must be controlled and cleaned up after.

What a stunning place to pull up, set up a tent or campervan, sit under the sky, the stars, on the soft grass. Admiring and taking in the views of the surrounding mountains, trees, horses, cows and bird life.

Just had a great weekend camping and relaxing at Mark’s place. Soft, grassy, flat, cleared campsite overlooking the river with tall gum trees. Solar shower and flushing toilet a total luxury as well as the huge campgrounds only being able to be booked for one tent - privacy! A few lazy boats going by, a great little swimming/kayaking beach and some short walks made for a very nice bit of time out. The road in and out was perfectly fine, might be a bit slippery on the hills when very wet and I wouldn’t bring a caravan. Thanks Mark for making it available and all the effort that clearly goes in to maintaining such a large space.

We had such a lovely stay at Kookaburra: Riot site. The location was easy to find & very well signposted. The Riot site was easily accessible by 2WD vehicle in dry and light rain. It’s’ beautiful country with the swimming creek so very close by! We loved having the cows and horse nearby also, as well as actual kookaburras. The camp site was clean with lots of flat space to pitch our tent. The pit toilet was very well kept, (particularly given it was Summer). Christine was very accomodating of a late check out on Sunday afternoon, which we greatly appreciated.

Wow!! What an incredible campground, worth every penny. So much privacy, nice and flat, the flushing toilet was a hit and also the entertainment area is gorgeous too. Kayaking on the river was alot of fun and sitting under the shelter in the river was so relaxing on a hot day. Tryg is an awesome host, thank you for sharing your beautiful property for us.

We loved our 3 days at Kookaburra! Peaceful spot with a creek to cool off. So many places to explore close by. We chose Bushman’s Clock and saw so many birds and the friendly cows and horse that roam the property.

And some large flys that kept biting our poor dog
Also road in a few x 3 large bumps but manageable
Had a great stay
Slightly pricey at $120 almost 2/3 times other places we stayed

The photos don’t do the place justice. Tryg has done a lot of work in the space since the photos were taken. We were a large group of families and the kids and adults had an amazing time fishing, kayaking, watching sunrise, and swimming. The toilets (x3 plumbed in) and cooking worked well for the group. The place was really quiet. The only objection I heard was lack of showers - but it certainly wasn’t from the kids! I can’t wait to go back. Thank you!

We stayed at Woodenhead for one night over the Australia Day weekend. Scott was very friendly and met us upon arrival, and showed us to our campsite, which was helpful. The campsite has lots of shade and trees, so it felt very private despite there being half a dozen other campers on the property. There is a rainwater tank on site that is available which we used for washing up etc. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would camp here again.
