The Back Road Van is a 22 foot Viscount Supreme caravan, circa 1970's, in fairly original condition. Sitting on a 7 acre property in the beautiful Markwell Valley, and only a 7 minute drive from the village of Bulahdelah. (Note : 5kms of sealed road and 2kms of unsealed gravel road from town - suitable for all vehicles.)
The van is decorated to reflect the retro 70s style. Inside it features a ‘cosy’ double bed, with linen provided; a lounge area; plus a small galley kitchen, that includes a toaster, kettle, bar fridge, microwave and a 2 burner electric stove top. There are also added extras such as a selection of teas, coffee with plunger, milk and local free range eggs. (Note : the van does not have a plumbed water supply, but plenty of fresh water is provided. )
The van is covered by a large shelter - including an open seating area with lounge; table and chairs, a breakfast bar; and small gas BBQ.
There is a fire pit which can be used in Winter and Autumn and when fire restrictions allow. We supply all wood for the fire.
It also has its own separate bathroom, with shower, toilet and wash basin. Towels are supplied.

Your pet is more than welcome at the Back Road Van. Please keep on leash around the property to protect local wildlife.
The space inside the van is NOT suitable for two or more dogs (unless they are a tiny breed).
If guests leave the property for any period, we ask they do not leave their pet alone inside the van.

We had a relaxing 2 nights in the cabin. Cabin was clean and comfy bed.
There is also an outdoor kitchen area with BBQ, pizza oven ,fridge etc.
A couch to lie down also.
Firepit and outdoor shower (cold).
The towns of Stroud and Dungog are a short drive away. Which we visited.
The hosts are great, Keiran took us up to cabin and gave all info.
Highly recommended.

Absolutely incredible location. Everything about the tree house was made with comfort and pure relaxation. The kangaroos that visit you are so sweet and was the possum. Lizards and birds, just beautiful. Heather, you have made that Treehouse a home for any to come, right down to the cutlery and beautiful bedding. What a beautiful property, beautifully maintained, clean, tidy, very friendly hosts, the donga was very nice and the big verandah was very handy as we had other family members with small children camping with us, this made meal time outside very nice. I would recommend this property to anyone. The fishing was good too.

Weekend Trip to The Back Road Van
We had such a relaxing time! A hidden oasis amongst the trees & wildlife. We had everything we needed. So many little touches that wouldn’t even be expected, but were greatly appreciated- Pete & Margot clearly care about the experience of their guests which is so refreshing & we were very grateful.
We will look to stay again, and would recommend to couples or an individual who want to relax and use it as a base to explore some of the fantastic beaches nearby (Seals Rock was a great recommendation from Pete).

I had the most amazing stay at The Back Road Van. Pete and Margot are generous and thoughtful, but distant hosts. This is one of those finds that you want to keep your own secret, yet tell everyone about. Highlights for me were stargazing at night by the firepit and my morning cuppas looking out at the wildlife. Already looking at the calendar for when I can return.

Loved it! The treehouse was so cosy and peaceful, it was beautiful to be surrounded by bushland and wildlife. The cabin was well equipped with what need and the bed was super comfy!
Make sure to take a long soak in the outdoor bath, this was my favourite part of the stay and so relaxing!

Wow what a treasure this caravan was! The bed was warm and cozy, everything about it was thought out, which made my stay amazing. Highly recommend if you want a quiet stay with open spaces. Pete & Margot were absolutely amazing hosts! It was honestly the best get away my husband and I have had in a very long time.
The caravan was decorated in the cutest 70's retro style and provided great comforts during a very wet weekend. Their property is absolutely stunning! The sounds and views of the birds and the native wildlife was an absolute treat to experience. The rain slowed down with enough time for us enjoy beautiful relaxation by the campfire.
There was milk, bread, tea, coffee and many other great little comforts around the place that made us feel so welcomed and looked after.
Very kind and generous hosts, we will definitely be returning for more Bulahdelah adventures at The Back Road Van :)

3 nights at Carawirry Forest Escape
The cottage was a stunning place to spend the weekend even though it rained so we didn’t get to explore as much of the bush as we would have liked. Loved the maps which greeted us with so many surprising options to explore. We walked lyrebird and yowie tracks which were challenging but very rewarding. No lyrebird sightings this time round but definitely worth the climb up the side of the mountain. Had a lovely time chilling with the walleroos in the outdoor tub after that one!

What a brilliant set up! Pete and Margot were so welcoming, we loved our stay, everything was perfect, the attention to detail was incredible. The little touches of fresh eggs, milk and chocolates were greatly appreciated, as was the fire pit, the supply of firewood and the stars! I recently stayed at The Back Road Van for two nights, and it was an unforgettable experience. Pete and Marg went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed to feel comfortable during our stay. The caravan was super cute and cozy, with a well-stocked kitchen and a fully equipped bathroom - no detail was missed. The real highlight, though, was the campfire under the stars and the abundance of wildlife nearby.
