TAMESIS is an off-Grid Glamping and Private Camping retreat, near Seal Rocks and Smiths Lake. Tamesis is a secluded 27 acre wilderness retreat nestled in the pristine surrounds of Wallingat State Forest, just minutes from Seal Rocks, Smiths Lake, and Blueys Beach (with easy 2WD access directly from The Lakes Way). Perfect for couples, solo travellers, and adventure seekers. Tamesis offers a peaceful, affordable off-grid escape with stunning natural surroundings, abundant wildlife, and partial lake views from every site. We have been lovers of the Great Lakes region for almost 30 years and are excited to share the magic of the area with you. Tamesis offers a fully self-contained caravan with everything you need, including cooking facilities, a fridge/freezer, and an outdoor setting, and access to toilet and shower. This is the ultimate off-grid glamping experience. We also offer our own onsite glampervan (SHELLY), your RV, Campervan, tent, and Wilderness tent sites. Some sites are 20-60 meters from the road, with some traffic noise at times. Ear plugs included. Within minutes’ drive, you have easy access (including boat ramps) to Myall, Smiths, and Wallis Lakes for activities such as fishing, surfing, diving, kayaking, snorkelling, hiking, mountain biking, and so much more. Tamesis is just; • 3 minutes from Bungwahl Store, fuel, and Chaos café • 12 minutes to the beautiful Seal Rocks beaches and lighthouse • 8 minutes from Neranie Campground and boat ramp • 10 minutes to Blueys Beach 25 minutes to Stockland, Supermarkets, and major shops. • 30 minutes to Forster, supermarket and shops. There’s a hiking track on the property leading to spectacular views, including a sunset spot on one of the highest points in the area. The track does have some steep slopes (not for the faint-hearted). Our sanctuary is an off-grid work in progress and is being developed to offer a full-service, eco-friendly off-grid lodge (with lots of magical spaces and thoughtful additions, and tweaks). Come stay with us and enjoy the property as it evolves. We accommodate many travellers passing through, as well as holidaymakers wishing to enjoy this magical area. We have 27 acres of forest, 1 acre is cleared with easy access and a few flat spots. For the more adventurous… you choose… The cleared acre is fairly flat, and then a 4wd track to the top of the property. There’s quite a steep incline (with many flat areas too). We can help you find your spot.

This fantastic, modern VW Transporter T5 LWB, is kitted out for the perfect weekend getaway or longer road trip around Australia (Discounts for longer trips, and one way rentals available, please see notes and feel free to contact us anytime). It’s also available on site at TAMESIS, our off grid retreat located in the Great Lakes, NSW (near Seal Rocks). Shelly is set up with (almost) all you'll need, including CarPlay / Android Auto (USB), Bluetooth speaker, cruise control, fridge or freezer, house battery and solar (So you can always charge things and keep things cold), charging stations for phones, laptops, etc., a new comfy mattress, quality linen, shower and Beach Towels, curtains, gas, stove and well stocked kitchen, including; utensils, cutlery, plates, cups and bowls for 4, and all the extras needed for your perfect Glamping Trip away. Shelly drives as new, is regularly serviced, very economical (900km+ range) and safe. Includes cruise control, safety gear, fire extinguisher, 1st aid kit, snake-bite kit, jump leads Beach toys, tarps, hose pipe (including attachments) and much, much more. We use the van regularly ourselves and make sure everything’s just right, to make every trip as fun, easy and seamless as possible. Our ‘SECLUDED SWAG’ is a Kings Big Daddy Deluxe (Double), kitted out with quality linen, pillows and 12v lighting. The site comes with own gas cooker and kitchen basics (almost anything available on request). This site is very cosy and secluded, the closest car park is about 20m away, though we can relocate to a spot with car space if preferred.
