Pets are welcome please pick up after them. Unfortunately, due to a recent incident. All dogs from now on must be on a leash at all times. The dangerous dog in question bit 4 people in less than 24 hours. Including my husband twice. You know your dog, But you cannot predict what another campers's dog is going to be like. Any dog on the NSW dangerous dogs list is absolutely not welcome here. Free use of fire pits and free firewoods. You will need to be split the logs yourself. axes and wheelbarrows are supplied. Hot showers and decent toilets, Good mobile phone signal. Two Communal Fridges .There is lots of space for campers. We have two sites with shade, four without. We suggest you bring a decent quality gazebo or equivalent. If you choose a non-shady site and then it's sunny, it is beyond our control. The river is a fresh mountain river running from the foothills of Barrington Tops. We only offer 5 sites across our 300 acre property giving you absolute privacy and a sense of serenity We were very pleased to have been recognised by Hipcamp as being one of the top 20 Hipcamp locations in NSW for 2022. Most of the year the river is lovely and clear and ideal for swimming canoeing floating on airbeds fishing photography or just enjoying. There is also some really nice bike riding and walking opportunities around the valley although you will be on gravel roads and we are only 25 min drive from the popular Dungog mountain bike park. You are likely to see a variety of birdlife other wildlife including black and white cockatoos ducks some lizards, occasionally wallabies, echidnas and if you are lucky a Platypus or two. We are fortunate to see platypus in the river frequently which is a sign of just how pristine the water running down from the mountains really is. You will have your campsite completely to yourself with no other camper near you. Privacy, tranquillity, relaxation and just enjoying nature is waiting for you. Be sure to bring your telescope as you’ll be amazed at the stargazing at night with no light pollution. With some lovely Spring rain the river is running beautifully and is great for a swim, fish or canoe. Swimming, canoeing and running the rapids on surf mats is always popular at our property and as long as the river is it normal levels and a lot of fun. However, we always highly recommend people wear some form of footwear in the river such as rafting sandals or old joggers or similar as the rocks are very hard on your feet and there’s a particular nasty little fish called a “Bullrout” that whilst rare can infect a nasty sting if you tread on one. No need to be overly concerned but be mindful. Our property is ideal for self-contained vans, camper trailers, medium motor homes, tents or swags, it’s up to you. There are no toilets so only suitable if you have your own toilet facilities and take away all waste when you leave. All toilet waste, leaving our property is very important and an absolutely essential requirement for all visitors. Public waste dump points are at Stroud, Dungog and Gloucester. Gloucester Dungog and historic Stroud village are nearby as well as Barrington Tops World Heritage wilderness area and national park. This is an operating farm and therefore farming activities such as cattle droving, fencing, grass cutting or hay making may occasionally be occurring somewhere near your site but we would always let you know. We are sure you will enjoy our farm far more than a crowded traditional caravan park or campgrounds. We do have some limited bags of firewood for sale at $20 a bag most of the year. These are heavy bags of very dry local Hardwood. You can also collect firewood along the riverbanks yourself or bring your own firewood for a campfire (subject to any fire restrictions) if that is easier and more convenient for you. When you make a reservation at the property we will always endeavour to put you in your preferred location as best we can. However if we are impacted by adverse weather or need to run cattle on certain parts of the farm then we may need to make a change to the actual site you are in and trust you understand. Please read the full description before you book. Ta. The land is about 650 metres. It is in a residential street (houses each side). It is a gentle slope down to where the level camp site BUT I do not recommend driving down to the level camping area. even in a 4 wheel drive cars have been stuck and if it's been wet, you will be stuck and I have no way of helping you. It's about 20 steps from the street to the camping area. If you have a car/truck with the camping arrangement on your roof, this site is not for you. Sorry. Level area for camping is about 220m with water and power plus a 8m x 2.5m cabin for hanging out in the day, storage in wet weather. The cabin is about 25 steps further down from the camping. It is a gentle slope to get to. The cabin is not licenced to be slept in overnight but definitely hang out there. The outlook is lovely. The land is just 500 steps from Smiths Lake. The photo of the lake is the spot. It doesn't look that good every afternoon. That was one of those super magic sunsets; but it's often amazing. Town water is on and power is also on. Toilets are a short 3 minutes drive to the Frothy Coffee lake side with BBQ and toilet amenities

This beautiful 98 acre property has 300m of river frontage on the Wallamba River. This is a lovely, shady, quiet and private space right on the river. You can watch the fish jump and the bird songs are so beautiful. There are no other camping sites near this space. We are just over an hour from Newcastle and Port Macquarie. Grab a kayak and enjoy being right on the river. Great fishing!! You will catch Bream, Flathead and Mud Crabs! You may also see the dolphins go past. We are 30 mins from Forster and Taree. The Nabiac Hotel is 10kms down the road and the village of Nabiac has all the essentials. We love our animals and along with our horses, we breed Therapy dogs. Your dogs are most welcome! Our property is at the end of a 2km gravel driveway. You can camp right on the river's edge in privacy. The kids are welcome to help feed the animals. The area is quite shady, and there is a decent down to the site on the river. You will need to swing wide to get into the entrance of the driveway and Van's over 18ft and with low clearance aren't recommended, due to the slope down to the river and the turn around area.

Quiet and peaceful property. 18 mins to Seal Rocks. On road from Sydney. Backing onto the Wallingat National Park. It's a great basecamp to explore this fantastic region, including Myall Lakes National Park, beauty white sandy beaches - some 4WD beaches - and popular Seal Rocks (18 minutes drive away). From your campsite, you'll enjoy 360-degree views of greenery and forested areas, and have access to the properties main dam and the billabong for walking and exploring. You will need to be self contained at the moment. Pick up supplies in Forster, Raymond Terrace etc. The site has good access, no problem for 2WDs to large caravans. Preferably you are self contained as we are on limited septic. The site is powered. Please note, if you wish to run air-con or heating, please discuss this with us first as there may be an additional charge for that. Please read the full description before you book. Ta. The land is about 650 metres. It is in a residential street (houses each side). It is a gentle slope down to where the level camp site BUT I do not recommend driving down to the level camping area. even in a 4 wheel drive cars have been stuck and if it's been wet, you will be stuck and I have no way of helping you. It's about 20 steps from the street to the camping area. If you have a car/truck with the camping arrangement on your roof, this site is not for you. Sorry. Level area for camping is about 220m with water and power plus a 8m x 2.5m cabin for hanging out in the day, storage in wet weather. The cabin is about 25 steps further down from the camping. It is a gentle slope to get to. The cabin is not licenced to be slept in overnight but definitely hang out there. The outlook is lovely. The land is just 500 steps from Smiths Lake. The photo of the lake is the spot. It doesn't look that good every afternoon. That was one of those super magic sunsets; but it's often amazing. Town water is on and power is also on. Toilets are a short 3 minutes drive to the Frothy Coffee lake side with BBQ and toilet amenities

This beautiful 98 acre property has 300m of river frontage on the Wallamba River. This is a lovely, shady, quiet and private space right on the river. You can watch the fish jump and the bird songs are so beautiful. There are no other camping sites near this space. We are just over an hour from Newcastle and Port Macquarie. Grab a kayak and enjoy being right on the river. Great fishing!! You will catch Bream, Flathead and Mud Crabs! You may also see the dolphins go past. We are 30 mins from Forster and Taree. The Nabiac Hotel is 10kms down the road and the village of Nabiac has all the essentials. We love our animals and along with our horses, we breed Therapy dogs. Your dogs are most welcome! Our property is at the end of a 2km gravel driveway. You can camp right on the river's edge in privacy. The kids are welcome to help feed the animals. The area is quite shady, and there is a decent down to the site on the river. You will need to swing wide to get into the entrance of the driveway and Van's over 18ft and with low clearance aren't recommended, due to the slope down to the river and the turn around area.

We enjoyed our stay at Fame Mountain! The directions to the camp was crystal clear, and we had no problrem driving around the camp with a 2WD. The camp ameneties was great like communal fridges and plenty of toilets and hot/cold showers! They were clean too! The view of the mountains was beautiful during sunset.

The beaches and lake are stunning and quiet within a quick drive through amazing rainforests. Micheal was an amazing host, providing recommendations for experiences and local food. Linda’s land and horses and animals are absolutely truly phenomenal. Linda is such a beautiful soul who was so welcoming and accomodating towards us (and gifted us eggs on our arrival) and showed us the best spot to camp on her beautiful property. The drop toilet is well maintained and clean. The property is absolutely beautiful to wander in, swim in the damn, say hello to the horses who approached our campsite multiple times each day (Freddy the Shetland did try to steal a sponge, nothing is safe!). Bo, my beautiful dog was able to say hi to the horses, Linda’s dogs, the pig and explore the property, both him and my mum had a wonderful, beautiful stay 100/10, it was magnificent! I cannot wait to come back! 😊

This site is a beautiful bush block set well away from the houses at North Arm Cove. It’s very private and you really feel like you’re in the middle of the bush. Plenty of room. We found access to be a little tricky – we recommend that both car and van have good clearance. Communication with the owner was always very prompt and helpful. it was wonderful that we were able to bring our dog with us. Thanks!

We had an amazing time staying at Mei’s! The area is quiet and remote and the views are amazing! We arrived a day late due to flight cancellations and Mei offered us an extra night for free which was very kind. She was very accommodating and made everything very clear for us. Shower and toilet facilities are great and showers were nice and warm. Fridges are very useful for storing food and freezers had ice lollies for guests which was a nice touch! Would 100% recommend staying here. Thanks Mei!

We had a wonderful time camping out there! We’re a pretty experienced and self reliant daddy/daughter camping team…. Lisa was a lovely, friendly host- her sites offer some really nice, shady and sheltered positions and a few little bush walks that we enjoyed exploring. It’s also close enough to civilisation (without it being obvious) that we were able to duck out for a bit and see what else was in the area. Thanks for having us, Lisa! We’ll be back again soon!

Where to go

Port Stephens Great Lake Marine Park

Stretching from the northern end of Stockton Beach north to Cape Hawke Surf Life Saving Club near Forster, the Port Stephens Great Lake Marine Park boasts many species of dolphin, turtles, and fish. Book a cruise to go swimming with dolphins, or whale-watching during their annual migration from June to October.

Fingal Bay

Hike to the top of Barry Park Lookout to admire the view over Fingal Spit, which connects the mainland to Fingal Island. You can also go boating to the island and embark on a guided nature walk to visit an Aboriginal fish trap lagoon, Point Stephens Lighthouse, and the ruins of the caretaker’s cottage, learning about Fingal Bay's fascinating history.

Stockton Bight Sand Dunes

The largest moving sand dunes in the southern hemisphere at nearby Anna Bay, the Stockton Beach Sand Dunes stretch for more than 30 km and reach over 30 metres high. The Worimi National Park dunes offer fun opportunities for sandboarding, quad biking, horse riding, and 4WDing. You can also embark on a camel ride or go fishing on Stockton Beach, one of many area beaches.

Broughton Island

Walk among a breeding colony of wedge tailed shearwaters on Broughton Island in Myall Lakes National Park, only accessible by boat. During your day boating, you can also go swimming or snorkelling in secluded coves with a picnic lunch. It's definitely one of the highlights of the Port Stephens region.

The temperatures in Nelson Bay and Port Stephens are highest on average in January, at around 23°C. July is the coldest month, with temperatures averaging 13°C. The best time to see whales is from June to October, when they pass by on their annual migration, while dolphin swim tours usually run from the beginning of October until the end of April. September is the driest month, while June is the wettest.
