There is an abundance of native animals here including kangaroos, lyre birds, lace monitors, platypus and more! Access is via a short dirt driveway to the riverfront camping area. The access is 2wd unless there has been significant rain it becomes 4wd access.We can accommodate both small and large groups with sites just steps away from the river. We have 2 water entrances, one is a large grassed area with shallow water which is great for kids & families. The other entrance is a natural sandy entry with a deeper swimming area suitable for adults. We also have a beautiful lagoon area where I can arrange additional campers. We have built some new flushing toilets (3) with a hot water shower.We are very accommodating of your pets. We welcome dogs and can host horses in one of the paddocks. Please ensure you contact the host prior to your stay if you are bringing any animals. We have canoes & floats which you can hire to paddle up the river. Additional activities here include fishing, swimming, bushwalking, canoeing & birdwatching. Down by the Hawkesbury is a rare find and recommended. Lots of positives - lovely hosts, easy access for all vehicle types, private and spacious area to use right above the river (complete with amazing sunsets), massive undercover area with lots of lighting options (general and party string lights) plus power points, a “mini amenity block” with washing up area, flushing toilet and shower (super hot water). We spent four nights there, me in my bell tent with my dog and my parents in Mabel (the vintage caravan). Mabel is super cute, super comfortable and even has air-con. Please note, depending on where you pitch your tent, if you are a light sleeper, you may hear sounds carrying across the water at night. If you are sensitive to this (like me) bring your usual ear plugs, ear phones etc. just in case. I used mine only two nights, but thought it best to mention for anyone similar. Not an issue if staying in Mabel, or your own camper-van / caravan. The main ground area is really well kept - bindi free, actual lawn! It is soft under foot and nice to sit down on. Access to the river is via constructed steps, so bring your fishing gear if that’s your thing (no luck for Dad, just two eels, that were thrown back) Nature is right there to enjoy - the river, trees, birdlife, a couple of Water-Dragons and Blue-Tongues that passed by somedays… vivid sunsets and bright stars at night. Not far from townships of Pitt Town and Windsor if you need camp supplies or some take-away food.

You will not find a better spot within two hours on Sydney. I’m reluctant to share how good it is in fear of it being booked out next time we go. We went for a family catch up before Christmas. Even though it was a 40 degree weekend it didn’t feel like it under the beautiful shady trees. The river, though busy with boats on the hottest weekend of the year offered a quick refresh in a floating tube. Megan the host was fantastic, responsive and warm. The property itself is immaculate. Beautiful sunsets, My Brother hired Mabel the vintage caravan for the two nights and loved lt. It was the perfect weekend. Thank you so much Megan.

3 nights at Melon Green at Oakdale
This was the first camp in our new pod camper so spent a bit of time experimenting with the set up. Lyndall was very friendly and welcoming on our arrival and left us to settle in. We spent three nights at Melon Green and enjoyed it very much. Private and peaceful with beautiful views. Thanks Lyndall, we’ll definitely be back.

Lyndall greeted us on arrival which was so nice and made us feel safe and welcomed. We found a cosy private spot down by the dam to relax for the night. So peaceful and surrounded by the beautiful sound of birds. We loved our one- night getaway. 🥰

Melon Oak is a peaceful campsite with the loveliest host. Only an hour from Sydney airport and you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere with barely a soul insight. Close by, Picton is a charming little town with cute cafe’s and an ice creamery. As always, pack the mozzie repellent!

Absolutely loved our weekend there. There was another group at the same time but the setup meant we couldn’t hear anything whatsoever. Right by the river which was nice. Got a decent shower, thunder and lightening on the first night and the ground still held up absolutely fine. Lisa had some big tables and even a bbq available to use which was a lovely bonus.

Fern Valley Ranch is a great camp and wonderful experience for the kids. We were in our camper with swags and there was only 1 other family camping in the area. The sites are large and well maintained. The walk to the waterfall and the rock is about a half hour round trip. Perfect for the little ones. Ballyn (the caretaker) was extremely friendly making sure we were all happy and settled in. He even took our youngest to feed the chickens (which he loved). This place is great for family’s being close to Sydney with large open areas to run around and the shops etc are only 10mins away if required.

What a beautiful place! We stayed 3 nights with our 3yo and 7mo in a camper trailer. Loved our stay here and would definitely come back. The caretaker (Ballyn) was super friendly, available if we needed anything and happy to just have a chat. The grounds were really well maintained, with so much to see and do… horses to pat, chickens to feed, stunning waterfall on site. Even a small playground for kids (swings, seesaw, bounce bike). We saw frogs, a turtle, a python (on the waterfall walk - beware), bunnies, cows, sheep, kookaburras and more! Fire pits were perfect size and camp sites spread out well. Flushing toilets and showers were clean and modern, everything was just a short walk away. We had a sink and portaloo toilets next to our site too if needed. We even ventured outside the property to nearby waterfalls, all really accessible too! Thanks for a great few days Fern Valley Ranch! Wish we stayed longer!

Amazing sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing are provided free of charge along with bird watching, local wildlife, and horses in surrounding paddocks. We offer limited sites to comply with NSW Camping legislation and Hipcamp guidelines and to enable campers to experience the Colo as it should be, listening to the beautiful wildlife and really appreciating the outdoors. Sites are large with varying distance between each to enable you to enjoy the camping experience in your own space. Both paddock sites and limited river spots are available. If planning to stay with friends and you wish to share a site only 1 booking is required, the sites are large, some up to 30m x 30m. IMPORTANT: Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis, with conditions, and a $20 fee applies. Please check with Hosts before booking. Once approved, please add the Pets Extra when booking. (Saturday night 2-night minimum) There is no mobile reception or internet access, therefore, providing a true off-grid retreat. Self-sufficient campers are preferred. There are fire drums available on each site, most with grill plates - subject to RFS bush fire danger ratings on the day. There are three communal flushing toilets and two awesome hot water showers! ALL waste is to leave with you! There are local bush walks through National Parks and great places for mountain bike riding although be mindful of holiday traffic in peak times on our local dirt roads. Located just one hour from Sydney, our property features 19 acres of pure serenity with two dams and one large enough to kayak on (kayaks supplied). The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small to medium caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. If you wish to try and catch some yabbies from the dams the only allowable and fun way is by a long stick and sausage. Hooks, fishing lines and traps are not allowed as we have people, dogs and horses swimming in the dams. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their shower/toilet set up. We do have two drop pit toilets available and each campsite has a pit fire provided. We are getting low on firewood so you will need to bring some along with you. There is access to drinking water. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Mittagong and Bowral have great wineries with restaurant/bistro. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.

Originally settled in 1889 "Bobs Grant" this lovely property and the surrounding land was originally used for farming but is now mostly turf farms. Enjoy our little getaway down by the Hawkesbury River only 10 minutes from historic Windsor. A beautiful river shack for your use exclusively, including fire pit with direct access to the Hawkesbury river. Destroyed in the March and July 2022 floods, we have now re-built and are loving welcoming back our guests. Bring your caravans, tent or swag - all are welcome! Unfortunately, boats are not. Relax and enjoy the serenity whilst being only 1 hour from Sydney. We offer the site to one group only, a maximum of 20 guests. However note, we are not a place for rowdy groups and parties. Groups are welcome here to enjoy the time with their family and friends, play a little music and relax by the river. The river can get busy (which is great after the floods as it has been dead for so long) and so can the road across the river but if you are enjoying your family and friends you won't even notice!
