Otford is a historic village in a valley between Sydney and Wollongong, and bounded by the Pacific ocean. Our private acreage backs onto the southern tip of the Royal National Park, so the outlook from the campsite is all leafy trees. Walk to lookouts over the ocean, hike down to the beach or a few minutes drive to dog friendly beaches. Our bathroom and kitchen facilities make it an easy experience for first time campers. We are well-behaved-dog-friendly BUT you must let us know in advance.
Our access track to the camping sites has been repaired with a deep layer of asphalt but still best suited to 4WD. The majority of standard 2WD cars manage the track fine There is also the option of parking roadside, and walking in approx 300m to the sites. Please message us if unsure about your vehicle.
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
1. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog/dogs - we have horses, house dogs, chickens and; wildlife plus likely other campers close by, so need to be forewarned. Dogs must be on lead or contained at all times.
2. If you need to camp out of your 4WD RV (such as a roof top tent), please contact me before booking to ensure those two particular vehicle sites are still available :) and that your vehicle is suitable for our track. Maximum length is approx 5m. Please scroll through the photos to see our amenities and camping sites.
3. We limit the number of people staying at any one time, so weekends book up quickly. That said, due to Covid and weather, people often cancel at the last minute too, so if we are currently booked out, it's always worthile checking again closer to the date for any availability.
We are on acreage (approx 7 acres) in Otford, surrounded by forest, backing onto the very southern end of the Royal National Park Sydney/Wollongong. Sleep under the stars, and to the hoot of our local owls, and yips of the gorgeous feather-tail gliders. Lovely, peaceful and private in a bushland backdrop but so close and just a hike to famous sites, beaches, cafes and bushwalking - so the perfect spot to stop, unpack and then go exploring.

Brightwater sits beside Olney State Forest and Kuluwan Flora Reserve. It is a 50-acre farm with a lovely spring-fed dam, with our nearby campsite. The site contains van parking, an open pavilion, an open deck by the stream, a fire pit, and a dunny. It is private and secluded, and with just one group staying at a time, you are guaranteed the space to yourselves.
Please go straight ahead on Collins Ave and enter through the car entrance, NOT the truck entrance which is off to the right. If you come in the truck entrance I can't see you.
There are many beautiful walking and bike trails in the area. Lots of wildlife to meet, including water dragons, wild ducks, and pythons, to name a few. There is also nearby evidence of the original occupants, the Darkinjung people.
You are also welcome to bring a couple of horses! There's a safe paddock with a trough and nice trails in the area to explore.
The Kulnura General Store and bottleshop is just 9km down the road for basic supplies.

We had such a beautiful camping experience at this ranch. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was calm, open, and incredibly refreshing. The orchard views, fresh air, and wide green spaces created the perfect environment to unwind and reconnect with nature.
The grounds were well maintained, spacious, and ideal for both relaxation and family time. Waking up to the sound of birds and enjoying quiet evenings under the sky made it feel like a true escape from the busyness of everyday life. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, breathe deeply, and just be present.
It felt safe, peaceful, and thoughtfully cared for. Whether you’re looking for a quiet retreat, a family camping trip, or simply time to reset, this ranch offers the perfect setting.
Last but not the least,the kids had the best tym,they enjoyed the tractor ride,feeding the animal and walk to the water fall. It was wonderful.
We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already planning our next visit.

This is such a beautiful and precious hip camp. The people that run the farm are so lovely and very accomodating. They do tours on weekends and take you to their animals. /teach you about the farm and its history.
There is a really lovely waterfall and walk and the orchards are beautiful to walk around with tasteful oranges!
The funds raised from the hip camp goes to the Rotary charity in many countries it is a very cool concept.
We would highly recommend checking this out!

Pearla little spot! Easy enough to get to, and the creek crossing was very cute start to a serene getaway, only stayed one night and was awesome, be aware that there are little leeches by the creek but are not toxic/poisonous!

Mike’s place is stunning. Well kept grounds with fire pits and buckets to extinguish. Soooo much space. There were two other families there at the same time as me but still had plenty of distance between us. Plenty of trees and shade but also big open spaces. I also had internet most of the stay. For part of the trip it’s a narrow dirt road to the property with a short, steep, rocky creek crossing to the gate, but it was all pretty easy for my Subaru Forester AWD. Before the dirt road you pass through the beautiful Megalong Valley rain forest.
The gem of the place for me was the gorgeous fern lined, crystal clear creek. I spent a big part of my time there (39 degree day!). If you walk it be careful because the rocks can be a bit wobbly and uneven. It was ankle to knee deep for most of it (that would change depending on rainfall). There is also a very boisterous lyrebird who mimics every bird in the forest and reminds me of the Roadrunner because it moves so fast. The fauna and flora are wonderful. Plenty of wrens, robins, roos and a big wombat hole/home. If you look closely there’s many different tiny little flowers and orchids around 5mm wide scattered throughout the grass. Loved this place!

A lovely spot to camp in! A blood pumping walk down into the valley (and back up again!) at the start of the six foot track. Lovely place to camp, a flowing river with water, we saw ducks, kangaroos and wallabies, and many signs of a wombat! Would definitely stay again

Absolutely gorgeous campsite, nothing better than a dip in the creek at the end of a long day exploring and then listening to it as you fall asleep. Site was clean and level with a fire circle, hot plate, fire bucket and bag of kindling, toilet was functional and stocked with paper. Definitely keen to return with the family, thanks Mike!

Lovely place. Very scenic and peaceful. Would benefit from toilet upgrade. We almost cooked inside the tin shed with the warm weather. No escape from warm weather with not being allowed in the water and not much shade. Caretaker was lovely. Kids loved the animals being around to say hello to. Would go back but maybe not in summer.

Wow by far the most amazing hip camp I have ever been to 🙂 so peaceful with a crystal clear creek. I didn’t see any wombats but saw a lyrebird which was very cool. Can’t wait to visit again. Can’t recommend this beautiful piece of paradise more!

Cath was welcoming and the property was great. I felt very tucked away on the site and was really comfortable sitting on the deck and by the fire. It was a nice drive out and the property was well signposted. It's a new favourite that I would definitely go back to.
