Port Macquarie is known for its beautiful beaches, coastal scenery and walks, koala hospital, local strawberry and tomato picking, and 4WDing at nearby beaches and through Cairncross State Forest.
Bernard and Susan are custodians of the farm, primarily using the land for poultry (egg), pig, and goat farming. They are transitioning to an off-grid and eco-friendly lifestyle for their retirement.
The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. Please note that all animal interactions are self-led (including our animal nursery), and children must be supervised by their parents/carers. During NSW School Holidays, host led animal interactions will be available at designated times.

Our property is located 20 minutes north of Forster–Tuncurry in an area called Hallidays Point. Hallidays Point has a population of around 4,000, consisting of a mix of retirees and a fair proportion of tradespeople—everything retirees need most!
We’re about a 15-minute walk to Diamond Beach and a 10-minute drive to the local shopping centre, which includes a bakery, IGA, chemist, two hairdressers, pharmacy, real estate office, library, and post office. The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. Please note that all animal interactions are self-led (including our animal nursery), and children must be supervised by their parents/carers. Forster–Tuncurry, about a 20-minute drive away, is the main shopping hub. With a population of around 22,000, it is a premier coastal destination renowned for pristine Wallis Lake, stunning surf beaches, and marine life encounters. Top attractions include diving with grey nurse sharks, dolphin-watching cruises, swimming in the Tuncurry Rock Pool, walking to Bennetts Head Lookout, and exploring Booti Booti National Park.

Water activities include boating, kayaking, and fishing on Wallis Lake; exploring the Forster Fairy Pool; scuba diving at Shark Gutters or Big Seal Rock; and whale watching from Cape Hawke Lookout.
Hiking options include the 4 km Bicentennial Walk, which connects Forster Main Beach to One Mile Beach.
Beaches for swimming include Diamond Beach (a terrific walking beach) and Black Head Beach, which has surf lifesaving facilities. In Forster, you’ll also find Main Beach, the Tuncurry Rock Pool, One Mile Beach, and Burgess Beach.

This campsite is perfectly located directly on the Breakwall and close to a small beach. Easy access to the town with local shops and restaurants.

Only a one night stopper for us, but a welcome greeting and a lovely spot to set up on. Ensuite cabin was spot on and a nice change from our cramped shower inthe RV.
Recommend this stopover site to anyone.
Also, comms from booking to arriving were great.

We had an amazing stay at The Hatch and couldn’t recommend it more. Susan and Bernard were incredibly friendly and welcoming hosts, which made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
The campsites are spacious and well laid out, with large shelters and easy access to the river. Toilets and showers were spotless and clearly very well maintained. The setting is wonderfully relaxing and quiet—perfect for switching off and enjoying nature.
For families, the animal nursery and the abundance of playground equipment would be a real highlight. We also loved the free kayaks, which were fantastic for exploring the river, and there are plenty of great spots for fishing too.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we will definitely be coming back.

The Grove was a beautiful and well situated campsite for a trip with my partner and our dog. The trees were shady (essential for hot weekend) and there were many birds, so the feel was very natural although you camp close to the working farm facilities. The owners and caretakers are around, friendly and not intrusive.
The shower and toilet are a convenient short walk from camp & kept clean. A daily shower was blissful in the heat. We had plenty of firewood to cook with & my partner loved chopping the big logs provided.
The resident dog Simba loves to come and say hi. We enjoyed this mostly, and he played well with our dog. We had to put in a bigger boundary with him when he started eating my dog’s food, & was persistent in asking for games when we were relaxing. He did listen to commands when we became firmer & spent a bit less time with us.
There are only two campsites and this suited us as we were looking for privacy and connection while we were away from our busy lives. One night a group came to camp right next to us in a spot we hadn’t seen as designated for camping. This felt less peaceful and private. I would suggest if you are after privacy, to confirm what spaces will be used.
Overall a really wonderful experience & my dog was relaxed and often off leash. Rod gave information on local swimming holes, which are a short drive away & beautiful. The location is within 30/45mins to towns for experiences and supplies. We had an excellent stay & totally recommend.

It was a grand camp-site with beautiful water views. Very quiet and calm. We had a party of 12 with a caravan, tents and swags, a boat and 2 jetskis with plenty of room to spare. We had our cars beside us. We found out to be a very secure site. Susan and Bernard were very accommodating and approachable. All of the animals were great. The babies were so cute and being able to pat and hold them was. a highlight. We caught some fish from the bank and jagged a big crab that we cooked up for a snack for 12. Firewood and bait was available to purchase and the amenities were well looked after. The young at heart enjoyed the trampoline and the climbing equipment.

We loved camping here, we had the Grove camp-site and it was just perfect. Nice area for a camp fire and some trees for a bit of shelter. Beautiful and quiet, with just the sounds of birds and the occasional visit from Simba the resident dog. Desley and Rod were very friendly and welcoming and we look forward to staying here again.

Definitely worth a visit for a couple days. Lots of friendly animals around the farm, stayed with my partner and we loved playing with the baby rabbits and chooks in the rain. Kayaks and jackets ready to be grabbed on the quiet river which was lovely morning activity. Hosts were friendly and accommodating. If you’re planning to stay around port Macquarie would pop in for a couple nights. Great fun for kids.

It is one the most beautiful places, just the sound of the animals. Such good fun as well, my kids loved it and want to come back as soon as they can. Cutes nursery of little chicks and rabbits, a foal too. All animals love being fed and the dogs that roam are so good with kids. Mine played on the tiny beach with them for ages. Just a wonderful wholesome camping experience.

Hatch Farm is incredible!! The large and well kept camping sites right on the river make for a beautiful stay with some sites including a shelter for your tent, car or camp chair set up. The friendly hosts Susan and Bernard give you a nice welcome and keep you comfortable during your stay. All the facilities are clean and easily accessible including built-in portaloos, hot showers, outdoor sink, kids playground, trampoline, and kayaks! On there river there is great opportunity for fishing too! Now for the highlight of our stay… the farm! During your stay you can go over to the animal nursery and play with/feed all the adorable farm animals including rabbits, chickens, guinea pigs, ducks, geese, goats, chickens, goats, pigs, and miniature horses! Plus the farm has many friendly dogs roaming around to play with, our favourite being Jack who made himself at home at our camp and loves to play tug-of-war. The hatch farm is only 15 minutes out of Port Macquarie making it an amazing location for a nice getaway in the wilderness but close enough to town in case you forgot your toothbrush! We absolutely loved our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone, especially those with kids! We will definitely be back soon!
