Weekend Trip to Bunyip's Camp

Lovely land, easy to get to by 2WD and convenient fire pits scattered around. There was one group playing obnoxiously loud music for a short time but they stopped pretty quickly (someone must have asked them to turn it down). Plentiful sounds of wildlife and farm animals (most notably a rooster crowing, cows mooing and some curious strangling squawking sounds by the dam at night) brought the ambience right back. Beautiful mist in the morning and campsites are really well spaced apart to provide a real sense of privacy most campsites lack. Definitely recommend, lovely getaway from the concrete and traffic sounds of the city 🙂 will visit again soon!

Our group booked the Ranch River Retreat, for a quiet location on the river away from other campers to relax. Our host Debora was friendly & very accommodating in what our group was looking for. Only better weather & a few more fish bites would of made it better.

The property is a tranquil bush setting , with the majority of the camp sites set into individual private bush areas , with larger areas for groups of friends that wish to camp together. i have been there many times , and continue to go back as Bunyip is just so nice , and the hosts Lisa and Robert are friendly and welcoming. cannot wait till my next time at Bunyip

It was a very quiet spot camped under a huge pine tree, very cosy. Good quality firewood for purchase. The camp spot backed onto a very dark and moody creek, definitely home to Bunyips. The hosts were very welcoming. A nice spot.

Great location, Deb was a super friendly host and overall smooth experience. Beautiful riverfront countryside spot to enjoy nature and slow down. Definitely recommended. GPS made us detour a few times due to incorrext (old) roadworks so worth ignoring the supposed closure of branch river lane/road.

My friend & I decided to brave the cold and Camp at Arcadia Farm. We were more than comfortable thanks to all the amenities provided by Maggie. Clean & well appointed hot shower & toilets, camp kitchen shelter serviced with bbqs, kettle, table, chairs and dish washing facilities. We had plenty of wood provided for our fire. The property is beautiful, plenty of native wildlife like wallabies & kookaburras. Maggie was very friendly, greeted us on arrival & then we had plenty of privacy to enjoy our quiet surroundings. Will definitely be back, would love to check out the walk to the waterfall on their property.

Great spot for a group family catch up. Easily accommodated our 5 vehicles and caravans . Cherie has thought of all the things you might need and stocked the camp kitchen with them. The bathroom was brilliant and very well received by our mob. Thank you for great time. We would love to return.

We had such a nice stay. We were the only campers there for our two nights which made it feel more private. The location is just stunning right on the river! Deborah was an amazing host and was so accomodating and friendly for our whole stay. She even dropped off a bag of homegrown mandarins and avocados to us from her friends property! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a little relaxing getaway.

I have a small private property with grass campsites by a tidal outlet to Port Stephens harbour. We do not offer secluded camp sites away from other people on large acreage. You can spend your days fishing, kayaking or enjoying Nelson Bay and surrounding areas and beaches which are only 15 minutes away. Guests have the use of a retreat shelter/fire place/BBQ area and wifi. Campers must try to be self contained bringing their own water, toilet and shower. Sorry, no caravans over 20ft. Suite solo travellers, couples wanting a quiet weekend and LGBT friendly. We do have available tank, rain water for drinking, a toilet and hot shower, microwave and free wifi available for those who cannot be totally self contained. Yes there are mozzies because you are near water, so bring repellent. Pets are welcome but must stay on a leash throughout your stay. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. Please BYO firewood. Fires are only permitted when there are no fire restrictions and in the designated fire pit and designated fire pit area for your own fire pit. Children 16 & under stay for free. Please notify host if you are bringing children. Please be careful and supervise young children near the water.

There are 4x 15 amp powered sites. Suitable for small quiet groups/ families. NOT suitable for loud partying. The state forest is a short 10min drive away for bush walking, mountain biking and 4 wheel driving. Beach is 40 min drive away. We are located close to the Central Coast and Newcastle. (In Cooranbong ) Some of our camp sites have access to three eco toilets and only one shared shower, rubbish facilities and drinking water. (Campfires) we have 5 fire pits on some of our sites , fires are permitted during the winter months. We also have 2 x 4 star cabins which sleep 15 between them, they are listed separately on Hipcamp. However the guests from both the camp sites and the cabins have shared access to the pool and facilities. Which includes a large under cover patio area. FRIENDLY PETS welcome. On certain camp sites ourSmall kitchen with microwave dishwasher and cook top and fridge may be used . Please just clean up any mess you make. For the next guest All cleaning products under sink. WE HAVE 2 DOGS that are people friendly., who love to meet new fury friends , they do have the run of our property . Our property is private so we ask you to contact us first to ensure we can provide the facilities most suited to you. We are located on a wide river estuary, offering sites in open paddocks, secluded among trees and beside dams. It suits off-road independent hybrid caravaners and tent dwellers. The river is home to mangroves (so mosquitoes feed the leaping fish), all manner of sea creatures and dolphins are frequent in drier periods. Birdlife includes an array of land and waterbirds, such as Eagles, Magpies, Kookaburras, colourful parrots and smaller shyer birds. The wildlife includes kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, reptiles. You may espy a Koala along the foreshore. For this reason, while we accept dogs, they must be on a leash (if not just for their own safety). The boat ramp has good access for kayaks/canoes. Or just sit on a camper chair and dangle your feet in the water while watching the mud crabs go about their social business. Riverside sites are not powered and do not have water or sewerage. They are situated within 10m to 25m of each other and if this is too close, we recommend booking two sites. Generally, we prefer campers to be 100% self-contained, with their own toilet. A toilet is however accessible, but some 300m to 400m distance from the dams and rivers. There is cold potable running water here for topping up. Sealed roads to the front gate to access the property from north and south. All-weather gravel road access is available, although paddock sites can only be accessed by vehicle during dry periods. Weather willing, we can provide more secluded sites by some lovely dams, (please check conditions if you have concerns). Local groceries can be sourced from Karuah and Stroud. Activities include: - Bird/nature watching - Paddling/canoeing - Fishing - Bike riding (small motor vessels only by arrangement) - Surface type: grass or paddock leveled areas and others with slight slopes and accessed with 4WD (of course subject to weather). - Generally fair to good Mobile phone access. - BYO or Preorder firewood for applicable sites out of fire season. - No electrical connections unless by arrangement (for longer term Hipcampers) - We treat our own sewerage. - No generators please.
