We only have 4 powered areas that are located in Campground 1. Centrally located between Nimbin and Murwillumbah in the small town of Kunghur NSW, is the Misty Mountain Campground where you’ll see the morning mist roll in, then clear to reveal spectacular days. The peace and tranquillity and spectacular scenery make this the ideal place to relax and unwind or the perfect spot to base yourself while you explore everything the Tweed Shire and the Northern Rivers Region has to offer. On arrival you get to choose your own unpowered spot. You then set up camp. The caretaker will check you in at the spot you have chosen towards the end of the day. Misty Mountain Campgrounds is suitable for tent campers, caravans, camper trailers and motorhomes.. PLEASE NOTE - Children aged between 3 and 15 are booked under Child Rates, Children 2 and under are Free and do not have to be booked in. Camp Area 1 with access to power and 1 minute walk to Central Amenities and Games Room can be RESERVED for groups of 25-50. It also has its own 10m x 5m permanent shelter. Misty Private Campground Only available for General Camping during Long Weekends and the Xmas period from 22nd December to the 8th of January Please note- bookings need to be made through HipCamp

We had a great time at Misty mountain camping ground. It was low season, so we had the camp 1 just for our group. The amenities were clean, with flush toilets and good hot water pressure in the showers. We went for walks and kayaking. It was great. I will definitely come back!

There was a wide area and lovely people there. We didn't find the lakes for swimming and kayaking but we did not have enough time to look for them

Camp 3 was a beautiful spot for my family of 6. The compost toilet and gas hot shower were so handy we didn’t need to visit the central amenities. Nice property to explore and the Misty cafe was great. Amazing coffee and yummy hot chips! Jules was very welcoming and full of great knowledge!

Gorgeous views and well spread out. Peter was lovely and stopped by in the morning for a chat and to make sure we had everything we needed. We camped only with morocycles and Peter loved this and encourage us to invite more. Toilets and showers were lovely and clean. We will definitely be back

Beautiful camp spot with the family! Julie in the coffee van was lovely and made great coffee! The grounds were well kept. Shower in the amenities block was warm and good pressure. Basic facilities, but working and clean! We will be back for sure!

We stayed at Misty Mountain Camp 2 and overall had a really beautiful experience, especially because of the atmosphere. The weather was amazing, and the views were absolutely stunning truly exceptional. We were lucky to have a full moon that night, which made everything even more magical. However, there were a few things that didn’t match the description. It was mentioned that the campsite has flushing toilets, but at Camp 2 there were no flushing toilets. The amenities (kitchen area, etc.) were also quite far from our campsite. The bathroom and shower facilities at Camp 2 were very basic and felt more like bushy toilet and shower. Unfortunately, the toilets had a strong unpleasant smell, and even in the close surrounding area, there was a noticeable odour when using the sinks or washing hands. Overall, the location and views are incredible, but the facilities could be improved or more accurately described.

This was a great campsite with beautiful surroundings. Definitely will return here. The toilets and showers were clean and the games room was really good. The grass was pretty muddy where we were because there had been a lot of rain but that's to be expected.

Misty Mountain Camping-Kunghur NSW
Open green spaces with a variety of backdrops to suit all camping setups, but the real standout is the ever changing misty mountain views. Camp 2 and 4 offer the best vantage points of the mountains, while Camp 3 feels more private, tucked in behind the trees. Camp 1 has a small number of powered sites and, while more compact, is closest to the amenities within easy walking distance. Amenities are rustic but available in a central block plus compost toilets and gas showers located throughout each camp area for those who aren’t fully self-sufficient. There’s plenty to explore, with space to walk and cycle, and a large dam complete with free kayaks for guests to enjoy. The staff are warm and welcoming, Jules in particular brings an infectious energy and makes sensational toasties at the cafe in the games shed. The property is well signed, firewood is available to purchase on site (cash only), and communication from the owner and team is excellent. Arrival is relaxed, drive in, choose your spot, and staff will check you in later that afternoon or early evening. A quiet, open, and safe space, highly recommend. I camped in Area 4 at top of hill for maximum mountain views and even though I had 4 days of rain every day, I still hiked the property, roads accessible and my stay was comfortable and enjoyed. I did not use facilities as I am self sufficient for off grid.

We had an amazing weekend at Misty Mountains at camp site 4. The view was spectacular and even the rain couldn't spoil the experienece. Our border collie had a great time as well! We highly recommend.

Directions to location very clear, peaceful camp sites available, great views particularily Camp4. The availability of hot showers and toilets to all camp areas a great bonus and the availability of the games room area even better. Very personal interaction with camp staff who ensured that everything was OK during our stay.

Misty Mountain is a beautiful campground! The views are spectacular and the complementary kayaks by the dam were a really special touch. The staff were very friendly, grounds are well maintained and hot showers were a bonus.

Our group of 8 adults and 2 dogs really loved this camp! There was plenty of space, we weren't close to any other campers. The views were stunning, the sound of the birds in the morning was beautiful, it felt so peaceful here. Swimming in the Misty Dam was the highlight of the weekend for me! My friends loved the kayaks. The games room was awesome fun, with stunning views from there too! Great amenities throughout the camp. Fire pits even provided around the sites. Really amazing experience, highly recommend!
