One of Arkansas' greatest treasures. Less than a minute from the Kings River Falls Trail-head, and nestled alongside the headwaters of the Kings River in Venus Arkansas. This is a remote and rugged campground with caves, bluffs, swimming holes and river a plenty. This campground has a grand exhibition of the same sandstone formation that is responsible for the Whitaker Point (Hawksbill Crag) formation. Clovis like points have been found here, and so one might assume the bluffs and crags here have been inhabited for millennia. This 7 acre property is completely surrounded by Arkansas Natural Heritage-Natural Area. There are miles of trails and cooling waters at every turn. If you like Kings River Falls, get ready to fall in love with this Red Fern Campground. So pack your curiosity, lace up your hiking boots, and let the whispering leaves guide you. Kings River Falls awaits, ready to share its secrets with those who listen. Where time slows down and the modern world fades away. Every turn reveals a new wonder; a hidden waterfall an unnoticed cave or bluff or a moss-covered boulder. It’s not just a place; it’s an experience an invitation to step beyond the ordinary and into a world where magic still thrives and fairy tales come alive. Here, the forest whispers secrets, and the river sings a timeless song. Most of our campsites are just yards away from a public swimming area, which is shared between our property and the Arkansas Natural Area. You should expect local traffic at the main swimming area during your stay. We have a private swimming area on our property which is just a short hike from the developed campsites (Please ask the camphost for directions). There are miles of county maintained bumpy dirt roads leading to the site. Expect your vehicle to get dusty. There is a creek crossing that is required to reach the campsites. We recommend high clearance and/or 4WD or AWD vehicles. If you are unable to cross the creek, you will need to park in the parking area and walk across the creek to reach your site.

Site 3 is a large campsite with plenty of tree cover. Lots of shade. Easy access to Mink Creek. Perfect for large and small tents. This site is NOT suitable for roof-top, van, truck, or car camping. No trailers or pull-behinds are allowed at this site. Site 3 may or may not be able to accommodate more than one vehicle depending on size. Additional vehicles can park in the parking area.

Site 1 is a large spacious site that can accommodate large groups and is located right on the public swimming hole. It has a picnic table and fire ring. There is also an overflow site up the hill on the bluff with an additional tent pad and picnic table. Perfect for large and small tents, roof-top tents, trucks, cars, and vans. If we have talked with you about bringing a small pop-up or small pull behind trailer, this site and site 2 are the only sites that can accommodate them.

Site 2 is a small, more open site with little tree cover. Perfect for van camping, roof-top camping, and small to medium sized tents. If we have talked with you about bringing a small pop-up or small pull behind trailer, this site and site 1 are the only sites that can accommodate them. Site 2 cannot accommodate large groups. 5 or less guests are recommended for this site. Site 2 can only accommodate 1 vehicle at the site. Any other vehicles will need to park in the parking area.

We loved the remote feel, it was very peaceful. However the port-a-potties were filled to the top and absolutely disgusting. Our trip was at the end of September and they were in a drought so the creek was very low. The access into the campsite could be better maintained, limbs and thorn bushes will scratch up the sides of your vehicle so use caution.

It was okay
The sites were pretty good. Next to a good little swimming hole. Only problem was that were was a lot of 4 wheeling, side by side activity in the area. There were two times we got rolled up in the middle of the night. A side by side came right through our camp at midnight and we also heard gun shots around 11pm. It may have just been a weird night for the people out in the area, but the sites were pretty good. If you’re not the kind to get spooked easily, this is a pretty good little spot.
