Description

Civilian Conservation Corps, we commend you. Millersylvania State Park, just a few miles north of Olympia, is a 842-acre campground built almost entirely by hand in 1935 by the Corps. Boaters, swimmers and fishermen live the good life at Millersylvania with its boat ramp, dock and boat rentals, but land animals don’t miss out on the fun—the park also has over seven miles of biking and hiking trails as well as an amphitheater and great bird watching. A word to the wise: leave your mobile crib at home if you’re headed to Millersylvania. Standard campsites have a restricted total vehicle length of 35 feet.

We camped during times of COVID, so it was a little crowded for our taste due to wanting to stay safe. We accidentally booked an rv site with hookups for our little party of tent + van campers - fortunately it was one of the best with some trees and shade. It also provided us more space than the typical sites. Most of the other rv sites are in the blazing sun in the heat of summer so bring a shade structure. The non-RV sites looked really nice, but a little tight for COVID times. The lake was fun to swim and paddle in but a little small for an avid paddler. Overall, fun campground with lovely trails, but select your site carefully and be ok with a crowded camping experience.
