We are a peaceful, private, forested 6 acers that is 6 minutes to a secluded neighborhood beach with big mountain views and only 8 minutes to Alder Lake State Park. Our OFF-GRID location offers treetop views, a hillside cabin, wood fired sauna, and soon to include select areas for tent camping. We are just 15 minutes to Elbe's Whiskey Train. 30 minutes to Mt. Rainier National Park. 20 minutes to the grocery store in town that has cool restaurants and a great crystal shop. Local hikes are close, include gravel, paths, and waterfalls. Our property IS off-grid and collects rain for water and solar for electricity. We do not have WiFi but do have cell service. Potable water is provided in small quantities at each site. Fires are subject to local burn bans and property provided materials. All areas are walk-in and include wagons to transport any gear.Eagle View Off-grid Cabin is a private 12'x12' studio room for two perched on a hillside with a private deck and huge views to the NW. Please be aware the cabin is walk in and about 300 feet down a reasonably level trail from the single parking spot provided next to the owners cabin. A wagon or wheel barrow are provided for moving gear. It takes about a minute to walk to from the parking area. Eagle View Off-grid Cabin is furnished with a queen bed, loveseat, coffee table with raising top, a small propane heater, and a gear/coat rack. It also features a private exterior bathroom with composting toilet and gas heated shower. Outside is a private deck with a bistro table, seating for two, a propane BBQ, and NEW THIS SEASON an included propane fire pit. The Hillside Off-grid Cabin uses non-potable filtered rain water for washing and bathing but includes a gallon of filtered drinking water per day of rental. The cabin also features a 100% solar electrical system that powers lights, a small fridge, induction cook top, kettle, and toaster. Instant coffees, hot chocolate, and some teas are provided along with some sweetener and creamer options. The Hillside Off-grid Cabin does not have WiFi or a TV but there is good cell service generally allowing visitors to create their own hotspot and get online if needed. While staying here you are allowed to explore and access the entire hillside property. Up the hill from the parking area are a few large communal level shady areas to enjoy the views of the lake, cool mountain breezes and general serenity of being in the treetops. In the warmer months we generally have hammocks hanging up there too.

Great location with good kayaking on Alder lake extremely close by and great hiking in Mt.Rainier National Park not too far away. The cabin was very cozy and private with a great mix of creature comforts(hot shower, electricity) while keeping nature front and center without distractions like TVs. I'll definitely keep it in mind for future trips to this area.

The tiny cabin was super cozy and well equipped with everything I needed. It was easy to navigate to and is conveniently located by the SW entrance to Mt Rainier National Park. I was disappointed though that despite being in a totally serene location in the beautiful alder woods, I could hear dog(s) barking in the close-ish distance for several hours of each day. It made it unpleasant to sit out on the patio or even to have the windows open. I know this probably isn't the hosts fault, but I would not recommend to other visitors looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway. If you are just looking for a private and affordable place to crash after a day of hiking though, then I'd recommend!

We loved this cabin! The views were incredible and we were so cozy and comfy. Dawson and Gabrielle were very welcoming and kind. They have such a great set up in the cabin and I will definitely be looking to book this cabin again on my next trip to Washington :)

Alder Grove Glamping

The sunset from the property was so beautiful. Dawson had set up the fire in the stove to be so easy to start for the sauna. We loved being able to bask in the warmth of the sauna then cold plunge into the rain water shower just outside of the sauna. It was great to have the compostable toilet attached to the cabin. We loved the setup.

Such a beautiful getaway, complete with all of the basic necessities. A beautiful view to grill out dinner after a day of adventure and sip coffee after a cozy night. Very close driving to Mount Rainier and lots of beautiful adventures. Highly recommend!

Drive to Alder Grove Retreat

Absolutely beautiful, and only a short drive from Rainier! The only two things I would caution people about are 1) The place's address is the Alder Grove Retreat, so if you're using the addresses, don't go too far down the road and look for the entrance of the place and 2) if you go early in the season, the water for the shower may not be necessarily as hot as most people would like, but we were okay with it because that's what we're used to. All in all, an excellent space and a welcome reprieve from camping in the cold

Beautiful remote cabin close to Mount Rainier. Short but beautiful walk to get to the cabin from parking. The views from the porch are incredible. Less than 30 min drive to the park. Highly recommend!

We loved the view and the cozy room. It was a beautiful time of year to be there. Dawson provided some hot cocoa mix and we were able to make some hot cocoa to warm up and play some card games.

I loved the cabin & being able to be out in nature, the sauna was amazing & I would definitely recommend to stay here if you’re looking for a getaway, Dawson was great at communicating and helping with everything we needed during our stay! The shower was amazing as well!!

I didn't want to leave....

What a lovely space! I seriously can't remember the last time I slept so peacefully! I was really sad I only had one night here, but already planning the next trip to the area so I can stay here again. Peace, quiet, all the nature, and oh my gosh, that shower!! Highly recommend this getaway for anyone needing some quiet downtime. The hosts are very thoughtful in the items provided in the cabin as well as the lighting provided outside, and especially in the instructions provided about the cabin and to get you to the cabin. I can't thank them enough for the incredible space they are sharing with others-- truly a one of a kind stay! Thank you!! Can't wait to go back for another (longer) stay.

The hillside cabin was a perfect mix of convenient amenities with an off grid feeling! I spent the weekend here with my partner and our dog. Everything you could need was included in the cabin, including cookware, towels, and even instant coffee and hot chocolate. The property was beautiful and easy to get to, and there are a lot of hikes within an hour radius. We ended up driving the hour to high rock lookout which was incredible, and appreciated being able to get back and have a bed and warm shower waiting for us. Would definitely stay here again!

We loved Dawsons treehouse! Super cool how environmentally friendly it is as well as the natural light, sauna is outstanding, and enjoyed the deck space. Bed is super cozy and we made the most out of the space!

Perfect Spot!

Dawson’s Hillside Cabin was exactly as advertised! Everything we needed - drinking water, a shower, even a toilet right there in the cabin! Perfect, peaceful, super clean place. I’d definitely stay here again! Comfy bed and super dark and quiet. Lovely!

This off-grid cabin was the perfect mix of quietude and comfort. You can feel deeply immersed in nature from the calm comfort of a cabin. Best of all it's all powered by the sun! Great views all around and a huge deck. My personal favorite amenity was the large shower with the rain shower head.

Another awesome hipcamp experience. The cabin was exactly as described and Dawson was a gracious host. I didn’t need anything from him during the stay, but he seemed to be on top of everything and made sure I knew to reach out to him for anything. Highly recommend and I’ll look this spot up again if/when I’m back in the area!

Beautiful views but cluttered camp

Overall we had a great experience! The site was remote and offered amazing views of the mountains. The cabin was well appointed and had all the creature comforts we needed including the beautiful outdoor shower and cozy outdoor deck space. The mattress was comfortable and the site was serene and peaceful. The only reason we might not recommend this site for everyone is because the overall property was pretty cluttered with debris and piles of broken equipment etc. that seemed to take away from the beauty of the natural surrounding. Unfortunately, due to the remote location of the site, it is necessary to first walk through the cluttered mess to get back to the beauty of the remote cabin. It’s not the best first impression and might put off some guests.

I chose this place for the peace and quiet, and I was not disappointed! Despite the feeling of being alone in the woods and off-grid with a gorgeous mountain view, the cabin itself has all the creature comforts you need. It’s cozy and spacious, and the connected shower was really fun to try! The water in both the sink and shower got hot fast. Dawson and Gabriellè were great with communication and anticipating energy needs due to weather. Last but not least, the small hike attached to the property is definitely worth it with a gorgeous view of the lake at the end. There were hammocks at the landing were a cherry on top! 10/10 would come back.

Ideal Spot!

Dawsons’s place was exactly what we were looking for. A great little cabin with everything we needed in peaceful surroundings and a great jumping off point for many adventures. Loved the partial outdoor shower! They were wonderful and helpful hosts too!

Perfect Nature Getaway!

This was my first Hipcamp experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better one! Dawson was easy to communicate with from the start and the stay itself - amazing! I loved that the cabin was off grid enough that there was no tv or WiFi, but there was cell service in case I needed to get ahold of someone. The outdoor shower was such a nice touch to connect further with nature. We spent both our mornings and our evenings sitting out on the deck, just taking in all the sights and sounds and it was the peaceful getaway that was much needed. The cherry on top were the hammocks that we laid in during sunset. Would love to stay again if I ever get the chance, but if not, I would recommend to anyone looking!

Very cute cabin in a forest

The cabin was very cute, quite tiny but functional. The best part was the bathroom. I’m not sure how convenient it is during colder months, but in the summer I loved taking a shower in the forest. We had a very good sleep on the comfortable bed and woke up to singing birds and a rooster. The only thing I would add is a big mirror on a wall. I wish we had time to use the sauna. It’s well built and looks very new. Unfortunately, our stay was too short to take advantage of this perk.

stunning private cabin

This was an incredibly beautiful and well stocked cabin, it was a luxurious getaway with absolutely breathtaking views, I loved sitting on the porch and listening to the birds while taking in the landscape. I would absolutely come here again and recommend it to friends. The surrounding town was also nice and accommodating.

We absolutely loved this sweet little off the grid cabin! Everything was perfect from the territorial views from the deck and the hill top, to a well thought out space and everything being easy to figure out and use. We'll be back next time for a longer stay so we can fully settle in and utilize all that this hip-camp offers.

Our stay at the Hillside Cabin was absolutely delightful. The cozy and peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by mountains and trees, provided the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. One of the highlights was the close proximity to Alder Lake, which offered serene views and a refreshing escape. We particularly enjoyed spending the evening on the deck playing cards with the gas stove flame creating a warm and inviting ambiance.
