Elkhorn Campground is one of the free rugged campsites in the Maury Mountains. If you’re into rockhounding, sleeping near the legendary Maury Mountain Agate Beds could be a dream come true. There are five campsites which can be overgrown if you arrive early in the season, but hey, you didn’t have to pay to stay here… Elkhorn is popular with trailer RVers because of its easier road access and ample space for turning around or pullin’ through. There’s a vault toilet but nothing else. Then again, you can show up at Elkhorn any time and it doesn’t cost a dime.
