BEST HIPCAMP EXPERIENCE IN THE AREA! Everyone needs to experience Robyn's beautiful fairytale like campgrounds, OVERFLOWING with fresh flowers, cherry trees, pear trees, apple trees, and three campsites to choose from. She has manicured the perfect campgrounds for Hipcampers! She has even built a beautiful outhouse that's outfitted with the best accommodation outdoor bathrooms could have :). TIP: Robyn and her partner own the Chocolate and Wine shop only 5 minutes away from the campsite, at Marine on St. Croix Main Street, and it's the sweetest little place to add to the already magical weekend getaway. My husband and I enjoyed chocolates, iced coffee and deli lunch from the shops there! We couldn't rave about this site more. LOVED IT!
Sweet Spot it is!!!! The entire St Croix River area is gorgeous and Robyn & Diedre's place exceeded our expectations!! We were greeted with a welcoming bundle of firewood and given a quick tour of the HipCamps spots. Our campsite was situated perfectly amongst the trees for privacy, yet we still had a beautiful summer breeze. There was plenty of room for us to set up our tent, chairs, hammock, and to gather around the fire ring for hotdogs and marshmallows. It was also our first experience with a composting toilet, and now we are considering installing one in our place Up North.
A gem not to be missed is the little town of Marine on St Croix just down the road. You will feel like you have been transported back in time with the General Store and small-town feel. And to give yourself the treat of a lifetime, try the chocolate (and wine) place in town!!!!
We are already looking forward to coming back in the fall when the leaves are changing - their property is forested with maples, white pines, birch, oak, and fruit trees --- a bird watcher and tree-lovers dream!
I want start by saying that the property was in a perfect location if you are looking to spend sometime in St Croix Valley Area.
Having said that, I felt like I was camping in my parents backyard. The owners house was in full veiw of our campsite. I might have not felt that way if we were in the other 3 sites which seemed to be separated by trees and appeared as though it might offer more privacy. Also we were told not to go into the woods so there was really nothing to explore.
Overall I just get the feeling this place is meant more for people who only intend to use this place as a place to crash after a day in the St.Croix. Not a place for a family to camp. I'd be all over an Air BnB of the house and property. The place was cool. For camping though, not what we were hoping for.
