I just spend a few days at Site 31 at the Leelanau State Park Campground, and it was incredible. A small part of that was luck - we went in mid-October and the weather was very mild. We had a bit of rain during setup, but that was nothing.

It's directly on Lake Michigan and you get everything that comes with that. Sites across the road and in the trees obviously offer more protection from the elements, but there are lakeside sites available as well!

The unique shoreline is an amazing place to birdwatch, as it is marshlike with the waves of Lake Michigan rolling right into the brush and grass of the shore. A word of warning; poison ivy is truly everywhere. Watch the kids and pets, it borders all trails and campsites.
