We spent three days at Tyalgum Camping Grounds, and we couldn’t have asked for a better stay!
The facilities were a real highlight: the toilets and camp kitchen were always clean, tidy and well maintained. We brought our own camping stove, so we didn’t cook in the kitchen, but it was well stocked with neatly organised pots, pans and utensils — very handy if you accidentally leave something at home.
The people there were so kind and helpful, too. When we arrived, we asked about changing sites because our power lead wasn’t long enough. They lent us an extension lead free of charge for our entire stay!
We enjoyed beautiful clear skies at night, and I even managed to photograph the Milky Way on my phone! We also saw plenty of cows with their calves, little turtles in the Oxley River behind the campground, and idyllic rolling hills all around.
One of the best things about staying here is being within easy walking distance of Tyalgum village. We browsed the General Store, treated ourselves to some superb gelato and explored the little markets behind Flutterbies Café. We loved simply slowing down, soaking up the village atmosphere and watching the day go by.
I’m already planning another trip to the area, this time to Murwillumbah, but I’ll probably pop back to Tyalgum just for the gelato and those lovely village vibes.
Loved every minute of our stay and couldn’t recommend it more!
