Lone Mound Ranch is an idyllic, high plains, year round, working cattle ranch with a varied terrain that provides amazing 30+ mile views from atop the 1/4 mile long mesa to hiking the 3/4 mile long draw that cuts through the rolling hills. We have RV sites with 110 outlets for $10, 30 amp for $30 and 50 amp for $50 up by the highway or campsites available from groves of elm and evergreens to higher, dramatic elevations with inspiring, expansive views. You may want to visit our on-site ranch store for all cuts of our grass-fed beef and more! Cabins and remote camping sites include campfire rings for grilling and outdoor pets are welcome. If traveling with your horses, pens are available along with miles of unpaved, remote, county roads to explore the varied landscapes. You can expect to encounter, both on the ranch and off, white tail, mule deer, turkey, hogs, coyotes, quail, dove, road runners and friendly locals always ready to stop and chat. We love meeting people and welcome new friends to join us doing all things ranch related, from feeding cattle and horses to improving infrastructure. Whether you're looking for souvenirs or wish to really experience the heart of Lone Mound Ranch we offer grass-fed beef by the lb, free range chicken eggs by the dozen, pastured goat milk, cheese, butter and ice cream & in season a variety of organic veggies to smother in butter for the grill! All organic and non-gmo. We also have a local soap maker that uses our goat milk to produce artisan soaps available for sale. We invite you to come as a guest and return as a friends.

Remote Bunkhouse - Lone Mound Ranch
94% (44)
Cabin · Sleeps 4
The Bunkhouse is a simple, rustic, comfortable cabin waiting to host your next adventure on the high plains of the Texas panhandle. It's a one room cabin where we have housed our family members and seasonal ranch hands over the years. Now open to the public, this cabin sleeps three with a queen bed and a twin bed inside. There is electricity and a kitchenette (hotplate and mini fridge) but no indoor plumbing. In the winter you'll have an electric and propane heater, or in the summer a small window unit A/C keeps the place cool. Outside you have a faucet and hose which supply the outdoor sink and shower with fresh cold water. Your toilet is an outhouse with a camp potty. There is also a grill and campfire ring with a wooden tabletop/bench and camp chairs available. From the bunkhouse you have access to 420 acres of varied terrain for hiking, biking, ATV's, or horseback riding. Bring your own horses or atvs or contact Chancie at 307-331-4327 to rent ours. (Pricing and more info can be found on our website lonemoundranch.com) We also have a small on-site ranch store where we sell our grass fed and finished beef, free ranch chicken eggs, and organic cotton tshirts. ***GPS AND ALL OTHER ONLINE MAPS ARE NOT ACCURATE*** MAP EMBED WILL LEAD YOU 12 MILES AWAY TO THE MIDDLE OF TOWN*** YOU MUST READ AND UNDERSTAND THESE DIRECTIONS TO FIND YOUR CABIN, ESPECIALLY AFTER DARK OR IN BAD WEATHER*** Address: 5800 FM 1547 Shamrock, TX Directions from I-40 (if you will be approaching from another highway or back road please reach out for an amended set of directions) You will take exit 157 (Lela) and turn south onto F.M. 1547. Continue another 5.5 miles to Lone Mound Ranch, entrances will be on the left (East). Landmarks: About a mile before the ranch, you will see two cellphone towers on each side of the road. You will then see a big white water tank just off the East side of the highway, which is actually located on the ranch. Entrances: There are three gates into the ranch, each about a 1/2 mile apart. Gate #1 is red, and has the Lone Mound Ranch sign on it. It leads to the main barn, cabins, and campsites. Gate #2 is also red, and has our large brown mailbox out front with white LMR initials on the side, this leads to the RV sites. Gate #3 is a double silver gate and has the Lone Mound Ranch Country Store sign to the right. The ranch store is visible from the road in a little black barn, and horse pens are located 1/8 mile behind the store. BUNKHOUSE DIRECTIONS To get to your cabin you will go in gate #1 and follow the driveway east 1/2 mile. The driveway will bring you to the barnyard gate but DO NOT go in the gate. Instead take a sharp left and go around the outside of the fence. This will lead you to the parking space in front of your Bunkhouse cabin Country rule is: if the gate is closed, close it behind you. If the gate is open, leave it open. Our gates are equipped with chains and snaps for secure closure. Please take a moment to look at the way the chain is secured before undoing it so you can redo it properly. This sounds silly but we have literally had guests try to tie log chains as if it were a rope, completely disregarding the snap.

#5 Old Creek Bottom (Private, 4wd)
100% (19)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 16 · Vehicles under 7 m
This campsite is located at the bottom of a small ravine or draw. It is very private and will feel like your own little world as you can't be seen from anywhere else on the ranch. There is a large, circular area with a few trees, large rocks, and tributaries to explore. There is also an elevated area to camp that is usually out of the flow of water in the event of rain. The road to get to this campsite is a bit bumpy up until the point that you reach the bottom of the draw where there is some areas with deep sand. In good conditions this can be traversed in 2wd high clearance vehicles, but in the event of inclement weather 4wd would be required to get in and out. From your campsite you have access to 420 acres of varied terrain for hiking, biking, ATV's, or horseback riding. 1547. The ranch store is visible from the road in a little black barn, and horse pens are located 1/8 mile behind the store. SITE #5 DIRECTIONS To get to your campsite you'll go in Gate #1 and follow the driveway 1/2 mile back to the East. This will bring you to a big grey barn. You'll need to go through two gates to get past the barnyard. After you leave the 2nd gate continue following the driveway to the east. From this point the road begins to get rougher and 4wd is recommend. Follow the driveway abkut 1/4 mile east and down into the bed of the old creek bottom draw. When you reach the floor of the draw turn left (north) you'll follow the draw about 1/8 mile until you reach a large, circular, open space with a few trees and large rocks. This is your campsite. Country rule is: if the gate is closed, close it behind you. If the gate is open, leave it open. Our gates are equipped with chains and snaps for secure closure. Lone Mound Ranch is a serene and spacious getaway, perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in nature. Visitors appreciate the quiet and privacy, with many noting the beautiful sunsets, open skies, and the peaceful sounds of coyotes at night. Hosts Chancie and Lana are praised for their helpfulness and responsiveness. However, a couple of reviews mention the rugged terrain and a lack of clear site markings, which could be challenging for some campers.

This was our 3rd time staying here! Secluded and peaceful with endless stargazing. We tried a new campsite and it was just as beautiful. Mama cow greeted us at breakfast. The best spot we've ever stayed with our dogs. Met Lana and she is doing a wonderful thing bringing slow grown, nutrient dense food back to market with love! Seriously, try some product!

I spent 2 nights camping up on the mesa site and it was great! It's very quiet and peaceful with the very occasional vehicle driving by on the road below. I would definitely come back and camp at Lone Mound Ranch next time I'm in the area.

I had such a great time out here! Very private and so calm to sit back and relax. The stars were amazing and so were the coyotes howling. I’d definitely visit again.

Wide open spaces!
Awesome experience! We were in a remote site in a little grove of trees. Amazing stars, wildflowers, coyotes singing at night and birdsong in the morning. If you like the idea of being well off the beaten track with loads of space around you, this is the place for you. Bonus: a cell tower very nearby means excellent service.
