Located at the corner of 16 and 46, Al’s Hideaway is at the center of 3 cool, small Texas towns: Bandera, Boerne, and Helotes.
After spending the day swimming and fishing at Bandera City Park, we headed to Al’s.
We pulled right up to our TeePee and were impressed with how clean it was, and were grateful for the fan inside since summer is in full swing. We were totally comfortable in it and even got cool at night! We were told that in winter months, the propane fire pit is brought inside for warmth.
We got a tour of the land from Gordon and Jennifer. They told us all of the plans they had to develop their little piece of paradise (including a swimming pool), and showed us their 20 acres full of places to primitive camp away from the RVs and Cabins.
At the center of Al’s is a communal bathroom, kitchen and pavilion space with a sound system, tables and chairs, kitchen supplies, a giant custom built grill, and a griddle for cooking on. People definitely used this space and we got to know some of neighbors there!
We were so pleased with our stay at Al’s Hideaway, we felt rejuvenated after getting to spend some time in nature, and we are already planning our next trip out here!

Gordon is such a great hostess! Very helpful! Campsite is beautiful and very clean cabins ! Love that it I s pet friendly place !!

Amenities are great: Large communal shower, pool, outdoor fire pit, community area with grill/tables/fridge
Teepee: Equipped with power (1 outlet plug), provides portable ac and heater unit
We stayed during March. Weather was GREAT, 70s day/60s at night. Had some rain, but stayed completely dry in the teepee. Wonderful hospitality, always a text away if we ever needed anything.
Great place to camp . The owners are really nice and the teepees are clean an comfortable ( for up to 4 people) . Great for kids. Nearby creek for the kids to cool down and have fun.
Als Hideaway was a delight! This is our first time using hip camp and we were slightly nervous but can’t wait to go back.
The amenities are truly unexpected. You really don’t have to bring anything from home. From plates to towels all is provided. There was even shampoo in the shower.
The teepee itself was very clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the heater kept it warmer all night.
We had amazing time!

WOW! What a place! Our expectations were met and beyond. The hosts love their land and it shows. We had a great time in the teepee and there were no issues that came up. It was clean, cozy, and had a cool vibe to it. You could also reach all the small towns around it very easily. BOOK ALREADY!
We had a great time. The hosts are extremely nice. My son got to play with the tractor and ATV on site. The tepee was much bigger than expected. There are plenty of amenities, so you don’t really need to bring much.

We enjoyed this hidden piece of hill country paradise for our family camping trip. We stayed in the tipi- which was clean and spacious. Gordon and Jennifer have done a spectacular job of making their land feel like home to all of their guests. We loved the convenience of the hibachi cooker and grill in the outdoor kitchen! The property is closeby to several towns- so there's plenty to do (museums, aquariums, river floats, natural bridges caverns and safari, etc) and then you get to come back to relax at your campsite!
