The ancestral seat of the Clan MacLeod, Dunvegan Castle sits on a rocky outcrop in the little village of Dunvegan, which rests in the sea loch between the Waternish and Durinish peninsulas. The castle and its gardens draw many visitors to Dunvegan, and its location is also handy for visiting the nearby Fairy Bridge and Colbost Folk Museum, as well as the much-photographed Neist Point and its lighthouse 10 miles west in Dunvegan.
