Wow if you love the desert and complete privacy this is the quintessential Hipcamp. We had a sweet little campfire under a 96% full moon. We put our Sportsmobile into 4 wheel action and Ben provided excellent guidance into his site. Mountains all around and the site is surrounded by trails in every direction.

We really enjoyed the solitude and beauty of this camp.
It was a fun drive (in the 4W).
We were there in Oct and at dusk a lot of flies appeared, but after 40 min they kind of all died of somehow.

Beautiful site, very private. There are two camp sites side by side but the area is wide enough to not be crowded. Camp site was nicely shaded and flat so it was easy to set up our tent. There were areas we could drive up and unpack the cars directly in to camp. The ad says no potable water but there is a hose with water which was convenient for other uses. Tubing was fun but we did find used fishing line wrapped around a branch near the bank. That was a little gross and dangerous. Definitely recommend river shoes. Our pups were happy running around and also enjoyed the water but there is a resident peacock that although gorgeous, does make a lot of noise. Our pups were curious so we had to keep an eye on them and make sure they stayed close to camp. At night, Mr. Peacock likes to perch on a tree near the restrooms so be prepared for the giant bird silhouette looming over you! It's beautiful! There were a lot of sounds at night, machines, vehicles, and wildlife. If you're a light sleeper, may not be easy to ignore but otherwise it was very relaxing. Julian was quick to respond to any questions. This is definitely our new favorite camp spot.

A perfect desert escape under the stars
We had an incredible stay at this private campsite just outside Joshua Tree. The location was exactly what we were looking for—quiet, secluded, and surrounded by stunning desert scenery. At night, the starry sky was absolutely breathtaking—some of the best stargazing we’ve experienced in a long time.
The site felt very safe and private, giving us a true sense of peace and solitude. Benjamin was a fantastic host and provided clear, detailed directions that made finding the site easy. We appreciated the care and thoughtfulness that went into the experience from start to finish.
Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of the desert.

River Sands is a newer RV resort that offers long and short stay. We were only there a few days while traveling through. The Clubhouse is very nice with game tables, TVs, sitting areas, exercise room (lots of equipment) and bathrooms. The pool is beautiful and there is a hot tub available. Sites are gravel but lots of space between. The park is huge with over 300 spaces. Laundry room & showers are clean. If you want a picnic table you have to rent one. Because the park is so large, depending on where your site is, you will probably need to drive or rent a golf cart to get to the clubhouse, laundry, beach, dog park, or fishing lake. It would be nice to have more shaded areas (i.e., cabana/ramada areas). It gets pretty hot and very little shaded areas. We brought our dogs and I was concerned about their feet b burning as there are very few grassy areas, if any. The beach has some cabanas. Everyone was very nice and friendly. I'm certain in a few more years, when the vegetation has a chance to grow, it'll be absolutely beautiful.

River Sands Resort was clean and well organized. we arrived late but the managers provided us with all of the information we needed to set up a late camp site. The site was everything it promised to be. I would recommend it to everyone.

The site's description is precisely what it is! It is peaceful and isolated. Plus, there were trees that provided shade for us. The weather was perfect when we went. Please check the weather and prepare for a windy stay. Overall, it was an amazing experience!

It was an excellent place for group camping! The camp had great amenities such as a portal toilet (spotless!), tables and stools, water (not for drinking), and trash bins. Since the weather was projected to be very windy, it wasn’t! Which I was very grateful for! I would say the two campsites are not far apart. For reference, the space between the two campsites is four trucks parked next to each other. Since I came with a big group, I got both campsites for more privacy. It was only 35-40 minutes from Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Overall, the campsite was perfect!

I stayed here twice in one month. The first thing I noticed was the courteous and helpful staff. There are long & wide pull-thru spots. The showers and laundry facilities are excellent. Groceries and the Colorado River are within walking distance—overall, it was most enjoyable!

My friends and I had a wonderful time camping at this site. It has an intimate, secluded feel that makes it seem like it’s just you and the stunning natural surroundings. Although we weren’t able to have a campfire the first night due to strong winds, we enjoyed a fantastic one the following evening. Firewood is available for a very reasonable price and lasted much longer than we expected. The site is also conveniently located within a short drive to Anza-Borrego, making it easy to access for our day hikes. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

The views were absolutely stunning! Absolutely no complaints. Super easy directions and perfect place to set up! I suggest bringing an inner tube or something to float on in the pond as this was easily my favorite part of the trip. Very clean and the property was awesome to explore. Plus there’s a gorgeous peacock that we loved to go search for as it is a bit shy but definitely lets you know it’s there! 100% recommend this sweet spot. Will be coming back!

This tent camp option, only 2hrs from San Diego, was exceptional! It was peaceful & serene with the pond! Best part was that there was a bathroom (port-a-potty), but serviced and clean for its purpose of use. Also, the fire pit was massive and awesome with numerous seating options at the West campsite. We even had a neighbor at the East campsite and they created privacy for themselves with the way they parked their vehicles, but I still feel as though the campsite was a decent enough distance away from us that we weren’t bothered at all. It’s located on a bunch of farm land so if you are looking for a lot to do right nearby your campsite…this may not be it. But, if you want to just chill and enjoy the outdoors, this was perfect! Also, Julian was very helpful in providing the proper details needed to arrive and was helpful and responsive if I had any questions. Thank you!

We had just a towed camper and a quick night, and we're very glad with the stay. All the facilities were clean and seemed very new. We enjoyed the sparkling pool and the proximity to the river to go play, plus the playground was a nice touch. I guess for being there less than 24h we really used it well!

100% check the weather beforehand especially for wind.
Pond was cool, there are definitely fish in it caught 3 bass and a catfish. The freeway was a bit loud at night but other than that was really cool experience.
Fire pit was large, plenty of space for many chairs to sit around.
Porta potty was clean.
Overall was a fun experience.

This is a really straightforward place with some fun amenities. We stayed in our 40-foot Fifth wheel in a Sunrise pull-through space 1235 and really enjoyed it! The laundry facilities were remarkably clean and the staff was SUPER helpful. They have daily events and mixers going on. It was quiet and peaceful.
There were no large trees as of March 2025, so you are just side-by-side with your neighbors and the elements. Most of the ground is gravel or caliche, so there is some dust during windy times. We got some wind, but the dust did not prove to create a problem for us. Will definitely be coming back!
