It is located eight miles north of the small town of Heflin, Alabama, which is about an hour and a half from the metro areas of Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia. For example, an easy, straightforward drive down I-20 West makes Turkey Track Retreat a perfect quick weekend getaway for Atlanta residents looking to escape the city noise.
The cabin is surrounded by hundreds of square miles of forest. To the west, directly behind the cabin, there are over nine miles of continuous forest before reaching a hard-top road, and beyond that, over six miles to the next road. To the north, there are over sixty miles of continuous forest to the next road. Pinhoti Trailheads are nearby.
The ten acres is mostly forested, and all surrounding properties are similarly wooded. The back side of the property is bordered by a year-round creek. There are two open meadows, one of which is a pawpaw orchard.
Trails and a covered pavilion are located down by the creek. In season, you can enjoy blueberries, blackberries, and muscadines. Because the property is so remote—and because the surrounding areas adhere to International Dark Sky standards—you can enjoy spectacular stargazing on clear nights.
If you are looking for an off-grid experience in a forest and a quiet place to get away, this is the place for you.

We loved tent camping on Jimmy’s land! The property was easy to access using Jimmy’s directions, many spots to choose from, and felt VERY safe. We were on a road trip out west and stayed here, and well, we loved it so much we stayed again on our way back east! His communication was prompt, friendly, and set the tone for a relaxing place to stay. The land is SO well maintained and home to many sing-songing birds to wake up to. So lovely.
Bonus: Santos Coffee is 10 min away and is one of the best coffee/breakfast spots I’ve been to! (We also went there twice!) There is an in-house baker making fresh pastries that are hands down the best I’ve ever tasted!

I had the best time camping at The Land! Daniel was an incredible host, made sure I had everything I needed, and even had the campfire built and ready for me. It was great to get away from the city and sleep out in Nature. My mind, body, and spirit needed this so bad. I recommend this place to anyone who needs to disconnect from the grind and reconnect to the Earth. I will be back here again in the next several weeks!

This was our third trip to Parksland and it never fails to be the exact experience we needed. Dustin goes above and beyond in caring for this space. He’s a wonderful and welcoming every time we’ve come. Hopefully again soon

Gorgeous camp, with excellent hot showers, sustainable rustic camping with all the amenities and hook ups for large rv’s. Beautiful hiking trails and friendly family run campground with hosts that go above and beyond!

Dustin is an incredible human and he has built an amazing retreat. There's a wonderful community atmosphere and the sauna was probably the best thing ever on the first cool weekend of fall.

40 ft travel trailer
This is a small and very quiet campground, which is exactly what my son and I were looking for. Site two was flat, well maintained, and we had no issues. Wifi was great and all instructions were clear. Thanks!

Weekend Trip to Parksland Retreat
Great stay! Everyone is quite laid back, the property is well tended and neat. Be aware that walking to most campsites/bell tents or the cabin requires a good deal of downhill travel and uphill travel to get back to the center of camp and parking area. I would estimate the equivalent of 3 to 5 flights of stairs is common to most of the individual camp sites with the exception of Hill Top. There is an accessible cabin under construction.
If you like a laid back atmosphere where you can take time away from your devices, this is a great place to do it.

20 ft pop-up camper
Caleb has created a wonderful space for camping that feels off grid yet includes some special amenities like a camp shower house, a hiking trail, camp kitchen and WiFi. The campsites are well spaced and also have an extra large picnic table. Absolutely wonderful place to stay!
