Come for an adventure.
Welcome to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina!
Ashe County the coolest corner of NC.
We are offering a spot to pitch your tent on ridges with never ending views at an altitude of 3,400 ft.
Jefferson and Downtown West Jefferson are 10 minutes away, and Boone only 30 minutes south.
Shatley Springs Restaurant is 4 miles down the road, with a beautiful small town on West Jefferson to your disposal.
We offer a primitive site with the view as the main course. Each one has its unique charms and beauties. Please look at the photos and descriptions to help you select the site that suits your flavor of camping. Every site features a fire pit and beautiful mountain views. We are asking that you come prepared with a 4wdr or awdr vehicle to the mountains because the ride up is bumpy and can be difficult for low lying cars. Each site allows you to pull your vehicle to the site. The new river is visible from site 3 and 4.
Our Campsites are:
#1 Maple Skyline:
This is our second highest elevation campsite. Sunrise and sunset views. This site has a beautiful pair of sugar maple trees that you are able to seek a cool breeze in the hot summer afternoons and still open areas in an retired field for stargazing at night. Stone fire pit also for your outdoor cooking. This site is not near any of our farms animals, so good for your pups to roam and run without distractions if that is desired. Best for tent, rooftop, truck bed, small off road trailer. Can handle up to two small tents or one large tent
#4 Phoenix Vista:
This campsite sits at 3400 ft and have a wonderful in your face view of big phoenix mountain. This site will possibly have one or two of our farms animals exploring about, anything from a small group of our goats, to piglets, to a couple of our lovely majestic Scottish Highland cows. Everyone is calm and peaceful. Best for tent, rooftop, truck bed, small sized trailer, 4wdr sprinter. Can handle up to 5 tents and multiple small off road trailers or rooftops
#2 Sunrise Oak:
Aptly named, you’ll catch the first morning rays at this site. Gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge to the south east. Site has a nice large flat area for multiple tents and vehicles. If you want a sun filled space this site gets lots of it. You will have access to a hike up an old farm road to the top of the mountain where the view changes and could catch the sunset a second time. This site is not near any of our farm's animals, so good for your pups to roam and run without distractions if that is desired. Site good for ground tents, small campers and rooftop tents
#3 Tippidy Top:
The top flat of a peak with long reaching views out to the north. You can catch the sunset over big phoenix mountain also from this site. We find this site to be great for any rooftop tents, vans or small campers. You have a fire pit inside an open forested area with an amazing panoview 5 feet from there. This site has similar views to our phoenix vista site and possibly will have one or two of our farms animals exploring about, anything from a small group of our goats, to piglets, to a couple of our lovely majestic Scottish Highland cows. Everyone is calm and peaceful.
Special Days on the farm and reasons for special rates:
May 14-June 14th Fireflies should be out and about dancing in the evening sky
July 3-4th Our fourth of july show! We load up and fire off a good show, 2022 will be our third year

We will make sure you have as much privacy as possible as we enjoy our privacy also. The homestead on the property is off the grid and aiming for sustainability so we are happy to share produced products. Here on the farm we produce Grassfed and NeverGrain Scottish Highland Premium Beef (Ground, Steaks, and Tips),
If you are interested in meeting our majestic Scottish Highland calves and bovine please do ask, might be possible excursion.
*Please, it is required that you visit and climb the mountain using an all wheel drive or 4wheel drive vehicle since you will be climbing 300 ft to the top and our right of away up is a bit bumpy. If you visit us in a non 4wdr or awdr vehicle you could try the hike up and the walk back to your vehicle to your car is all downhill. If you want to check the weather use the zipcode 28617. We would be happy though if you ask what we think about the upcoming days and will fill you in with our local weather movements on the ground here and forecast (we know better than the weatherman generally!). When you put in your request, include the type of vehicle you will be driving up the mountain and also what type of sleeping arrangements you have, ie ground tents, rooftop or pull behind.
As a guest in our farm you MUST contact us the morning before your arrival with your intentions of arriving the day of our reservation and your estimated time of arrival. If you do not contact us ahead of time before 2pm we will not know if you will be coming or not and could complicate your arrival to camp. The pins locations on our listing's map are marking our meeting place to meet and greet at the front (stay in your vehicle if you’d like as i give you the breakdown of the climb) and then we can escort you to your campsite. The pins do not mark the campsite.

Best campsite i've been to in years
Four of us had a spectacular time on Jon's farm. He was an excellent host and set us up with clear instructions and great recommendations. Site was in great shape, insane views and perfect weather. Will definitely be staying here again.
Spectacular location/amazing views!
This was an absolutely amazing site and we will definitely be back. We spent 3 nights at Jon’s Tipiddy Top site and it was spectacular. The views were amazing! Quiet, peaceful and definitely relaxing. The top site is large with a large fire pit.
Jon was a great host. Very responsive to inquiries both before booking and once we booked. The day we were to arrive he asked if we could come early due to imminent rain, which we did. He met us and guided us to our site. He delivered wood (plenty for 3 nights) and even put his tarp over it so it wouldn’t get wet in the rain. So thoughtful!
We pulled an off-grid OGT trailer with a Ford F-150, lifted and off-road tires. No 4WD and was able to get to the top. We may not have made it if the road was wet but it hadn’t started raining yet. Jon guided the way. The road to the top was steep and challenging but we fortunately were fine. The top had plenty of room and several level spots for us to set up.

Great stay and Phoenix Vista campsite! Highly recommended. Attentive host. Worth the price, in our opinion. (We stayed in a 24' Sprinter van Camper Van)
Camping on top of the world….
Amazing camping experience. Definitely worth the travel to get the beautiful cool weather and amazing view. The road is pretty rough so 4wd or AWD is require. Jon “host” was awesome and always making sure we were having a great time. Thank u for giving us this opportunity to explore your beautiful land. Will definitely return soon

Excellent location with even better views. The host went out of his way to make sure we had a good stay!

Great site, coming back
Amazing site and great host. Definitely coming back. The only negative that wasn't a issue for us, but I could see it happening...is the location address isn't provided to you until day of when you are a couple hours away. Cell signal is spotty in areas and it was a little stress on the drive in. But everything worked out...5 star experience.
