Buffalo Creek Vacations was started after our father, Harold, retired from NY as a UPS driver. He wanted to go somewhere & experience all 4 season! Him & our mom settled in Haywood County, NC & built their own log cabin & started raising bison. Then, myself, 3 siblings & our spouses purchases the 40 acres behind my folks 18 acres when it came up for sale. We decided to build a cabin & then we started rented it out in 2007. Now, we currently have 6 cabins & 2 train cabooses for rent. We love living in God's country & raising the bison along w/ a bunch other farm animals. We love hosting guest on our property & decided after many calls asking if we allow camping, to include a few lucky folks to camp at Buffalo Creek. If you are looking for something other then "car camping" & being "on top of each other" at traditional camp grounds, then give us a call & come check us out. You will be glad you did!

Site 1 is located on a working bison ranch in the mountains of Western, NC. You will have access to our BC Depot Gameroom where we have a restroom with a toilet and a sink. You can enjoy all the ranch has to offer such as, daily bison feedings, chatting with the ranchers. Seeing all the other animals, alpacas, llamas, mini horses, mini donkeys, goats, rabbits and a turkey. Be sure to ask our seeing the huge model train layout as well.

The main bedroom is a queen, the "cupola" is a full size futon mattress & the living room has a twin pull out couch. Enjoy the large back deck while you sip your coffee in the morning listening to the animals wake up.

Stay in a 50's themed couples caboose. Just renovated & ready for you and your special someone. The caboose is fully equipped with a full kitchen and a full bathroom with heated tile floors. The bison really do roam here, we have morning bison feedings where you can talk to the ranchers. Also, take a walk around the property and see all our other animals: alpacas, llamas, goats, mini donkeys, mini horses, rabbits & a turkey! Once you are done visiting the animals - stop at the BC Depot in the mornings - lots of cool souvenirs, fresh coffee & buy your tickets to see the large "O" scale model train layout in the upstairs. Tickets are only $10 per person if you are staying on the proeprty.

The caboose was adorable with excellent use of space! There was even an option to sleep in a little loft area up top. Do wish the top had curtains or blinds, but otherwise enjoyable. Watching the bison eat was amazing! Very calm and peaceful.

We had THE BEST time staying at Buffalo Creek. There is nothing better than being able to sit at camp and watch buffalo roam in a beautiful field. Not to mention how much the kids loved seeing all of the other animals on the farm as well. The trains were a big hit and the fact they have a playground and toys and games for kids were a big bonus. Everyone was very welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

What a unique wonderful stay! If you have a train enthusiast in your life, this place will delight them. It was wonderful to be able to relax and watch the buffalo just outside our window. Warm welcomes and great views.
