Cedar hills is a lovely hidden gem. It was so freeing to just be sunbathing naked in nature. There weren't too many people so there was enough room to space out. Felt very comfortable as 2 women campers. Dennis was great! Will definitely be frequenting next season.

Had an awesome time out there. Got to meet the owner, Dennis, which was great. The views are unreal, and there’s plenty of site options—whether you want to be up on the ridge looking out or down in the valley. Already looking forward to heading back next year.

This is our second time to cedar hills and again it was amazing. We were lucky enough to get site 20 with the swing and the beautiful view! The rains have for sure made it buggy but manageable! We had wonderful weather and we will be back again for sure it was quiet and everyone was polite and friendly

Really liked this campground. It was very easy to get to and close to a town if you need anything but you wouldn’t know it as it was so quiet. There are a variety of sites to choose from very private to more open sites. The shower building was fantastic, nicest one I’ve ever been in on a campground. The water pressure is outstanding! Dennis was quite lovely and came around offering ice if you needed it. Lots of available firewood as well. I’m a solo woman camper and felt perfectly safe here. Would definitely come back here again.

The grounds were great! We were there on a Monday. So, we had the whole camp to ourselves. We had a wonderful time. We are discussing coming back out in the fall.

Regulars crowd with lots of nudity (and some cruising) very friendly, we were camped in the lower area which lacked privacy and was way overrun with bugs. (felt that the campground would be 1000 times better if they sprayed for bugs) the upper area was very nice, but wouldn’t camp in the lower portion again. Dennis, the campground host was great… a character straight out of a David Lynch movie, in a great way 😀

Cedar hills campground was amazing to my fiance and I. We stayed in site nine and it was nice and private. We were able to live freely all weekend long.
We do recommend bringing foggers along for the bugs other than that everyone was friendly for the most part or stuck to themselves.
We were able to get up and go during the day and adventure out.

My partner and I camped in a tent over Memorial Day weekend and had such a chill time. Dennis was very accommodating and we had a lot of space to ourselves, granted it was a cooler weekend. There’s a solid setup there and we felt our needs were taken care of with firewood, onsite toilets and options to shower if we’d like. Another camper was kind enough to help me jump my car when it died, so shout out to Rodney! I’m down with an adult only campsite as I’ve had some ~experiences~ camping around kids that were too loud for my personal speed.

The best campground I’ve ever used and I’ve camped in plenty of them. Sites for everyone. Some are kind of close together, great for a group of people. Others are very private. Clean, large,
great views up overlooking a valley. All have nice
flat areas perfect for the tent. Nice fire pits with large piles or cribs of wood just waiting to be burned, with more available. Also, Dennis stopped by asking if I needed any ice. Portable outhouses are nearby, all very clean and well equipped with TP. If can’t do an outhouse you can just walk down the hill to find a bathroom with a flush toilet. Next door you’ll also find a coin-operated shower, very clean with very hot water. I’ve read horror stories about the mosquitos, but in mid-September not a mosquito is to be seen. And, of course, there is the clothing-optional aspect. The key word here is optional. If you don’t like it, keep the clothes on. Me, this just adds to the feeling of being natural in nature. Just a great place to relax and chill. And I haven’t even talked about the group of wild turkeys walking around the campground one morning!

We had a great time. The campsites were very well kept. Dennis is definitely a stand up guy. We only talked to hime for 10 minutes but that's all we needed. We hope to be back soon!

The area was very pretty and the owner was very friendly. My wife and I were definitely the youngest people there and some of the only women. No one was creepy but just something to keep in mind.

The camp was amazing with stunning views and a large variety of sites to choose from open to secluded. The long time resident campers were friendly and very helpful. I certainly would rent there again. Keep in mind the camp site is adults only and clothing optional that serves a diverse customer crossection which made my stay even more special. Thank you Dennis for creating a special camp site.

I loved the view from our tent site. It was nice being able to sit by the fire, day or night, with the trees or the stars. The firewood fee was reasonable considering the many hours of wood provided. I went over a holiday weekend and it was fairly busy, though everyone was friendly and acknowledged each other.

I gave a mixed review a few months ago due to mosquito infestation. But that was after several weeks of constant rain. But this time, the mosquitos weren't all that bad at all. There's also been a great improvement with the walking trails since my last review. The best part about the camp is that you're free to be yourself. Fully clothed, naked, fetish wear, or crossdress, it's all good. But the best thing about this camp is the peace and serenity for those of us who aren't into screaming children.

overall we had ta bad experience in the detail no where it said it was nudist campground i had driving 3 hr come to find out everyone was walking around naked how horrible.
when i book it did say anything about adult only.
we had to drive back home.
my kids didn't get to enjoy camping.
you need to be more clear on what kind of campground this is for because is not for everyone that's for sure......
my time and money wasted...

Great time tent camping and being naked in nature! Sites range from very private to open. Dennis was a great host and helped us get situated with our site, firewood, and ice. People were very nice and friendly but not intrusive. Night time was quiet and peaceful- sky was clear enough to see the Milky Way. Would definitely camp here again.

I originally chose this site because it said it had 30+ available sites and I saw it was dog friendly. My logic was I could take my dog out and likely have some space for us.
I missed it when reading that clothing was optional, so it was quite a surprise to see most were going without that option when I arrived. Most of the camp sites were taken but I did find one. The actual camp site was a decent spot. Folks were friendly but it was a party atmosphere with people driving golf carts around signing and such into the night. Could be a really fun place if that’s what you’re looking for. Unfortunately I was looking for a quiet night of nature with my dog so all the noises had him on edge most of the night.

We loved Cedar Hills! We got there mid day Friday and got to pick out our spot. #20 on the end is amazing! Great views, large site and a bench swing too. Dennis was very nice. He checked up on us and offered to bring ice if we needed it. $20 for all the wood you can burn was a great deal. This is an adult only clothing optional camp ground. Don't be surprised if you see nude people walking around. Yes, there are lots of men, but we were one of three hetero couples there enjoying our clothing-free freedom. Noone was weird or creepy. Everyone mostly kept to themselves. We spoke with a few people as we were walking around the camp. It's a comfortable welcoming place for us naturists.
Note, mid august the mosquitos weren't that bad. Just spray on some deet and there are no issues. There is a bit of a walk to the shower houses from the tent sites. They are clean and you get a pretty long shower for a dollar.

The campground photos were accurate and we were able to find a spot secluded from other campers at the owners suggestion (tent 20). However, the fire pit was unkept, porta potties were unclean and all were out of hand sanitizer, the showers did not have a lock on the door, and the listing did not mention how the showers also needed quarters to operate. I would not suggest mainly due to the clothing optional policy. My partner and I did not realize that we were one of two couples in in the whole campground, all other campers were male and using the policy at all hours of the day. There was also a "Leather and Lace" party that went on during our stay; not our cup of tea to say the least. We will not be staying again.

Absolutely gorgeous property! I just needed a spot to camp near Taliesin because I had a tour booked for the next day. Only 25 minutes or so from there. Check in process was easy. Camp spot was clean, toilets were clean, was blissfully quiet. I'd go again!

Dennis was wonderful. Gave us an ATV ride throughout the valley and grounds, took some awesome pictures, and the campsite we had for our popup was on top of a hill overlooking the entire valley. What a magical weekend. Wish I could post pictures.

Unfortunately I was unable to stay for my most recent same day reservation. I arrived and when driving to my campsite immediately noted mosquitos and flies swarming outside. I’ve never seen anything like it and knew there was no way I could stay there. I also noted the campground was completely empty, except for permanent residents. I did not see anyone outside while driving through the campground. I called the host to let him know I would not be staying and he acknowledged the mosquitos were very bad and offered to refund my stay. It’s been over a week and thus far I have not received a refund.

We discovered Cedar Hills several years ago, and have been coming back 1-3 times a year since then. It’s a fun place with a sense of community that you don’t see everywhere. Dennis, the host, is a friendly guy that checks on his guests, and even delivers ice when he sees you at your site. The amenities are more basic, but Sauk City is just a few minutes away, so it’s easy to pop into town if you forget to bring anything, or want to eat at a restaurant. Cedar Hills is a great home base for exploring the area. There are many great hiking options to explore nearby. Pewits Nest, Ferry Bluff, Gibraltar Rock, Parfery’s Glen, are easy afternoon trips to take from the campground. You can rent tubes on the river in town, or bike along the river on a paved bike trail. Devil’s Lake and Mirror Lake State Parks are also convenient to get to for hiking or kayaking. You might also like to check out Dr Evermor’s sculpture park while in the area.
As mentioned in many other reviews, the bugs can be bad at times. It’s just hit or miss depending on how wet it’s been I think. We bring yard type spray for the site perimeter and regular spray for our bodies. The trails at the campground have always been too buggy for me, and watch out for poison ivy.

Mosquito level was pretty on par for this time of year.. Dennis was very warm and inviting as all the other reviews say. What we were not expecting was to be the ONLY campers in clothing. Yes, the site says 18+, and it also says clothing optional. It does not tell you that 99.9% of the people there will be male and nude the entire time. From 6am on a bike ride to midnight doing things in front of their fire that will go unmentioned. My point... it would be wise to make it very clear that the majority of campers will be men and naked. We watched several other people who paid to stay there leave as they were also not aware of the amount of nudity that would be at every site, in golf carts, and walking/biking around the entire time.
