pretty property and great for our group! we rented both areas of the camping land, but we all camped at kitchen camp. be aware that cars cannot travel to the other camping area (with the gazebo), which makes loading and unloading more difficult. nice to have basic composting toilet available as well.

Pros: Large private space with a handy gazebo for storage and hanging out. Incredible night sky. Power was super useful. Potty was helpful if a little buggy. Proximity to Apple House and Front Royal was great! Bear sighting! (Could be a con to some ha!)
Cons: There was construction or landscaping work very nearby so it kind of put a damper on the tranquility. Gazebo roof leaks quite a bit in the rain. The site had a lot of litter from the previous campers. We needed to request firewood which we didn’t know beforehand.

I had a great time camping at Walnut Grove for two nights, even though it was my first time. I really liked the easily accessible bathrooms, the outdoor shower, the patio for storing belongings, and the permanent fire pit.
However, there were a few things that could have made the stay even better. The directions to the property weren’t very clear, which made it a bit difficult to find. There was also trash left over from the previous party, which I felt obligated to pick up. It seemed like there was some maintenance work that needed to be done at Walnut Grove.
Overall, I had a pleasant experience, but I would recommend improving the directions and cleaning up after parties to make the stay even better.

This was a really nice space close both to DC and to Shenandoah. Tons of space to pitch a tent, a nice fire pit, and a lovely gazebo. Communication was clear and responsive. We hope to stay again!

The camp side is great, it has a big open space to do any activity. And it is far enough of othe camps sites. Kitchen and grill is great and big to cook for 14 people at once.
What I didn't like, it is toilet and shower settings. There were honeycombs wasps in each of them, it was little scary.

Holy moly this place rocked. We ended up having a friendly PEACOCK! Stay with us during our whole trip, still not sure if he lives somewhere else on the property but he was a welcome addition. The land is beautiful and the kitchen set up is really useful

We had an awesome tent camping trip at Walnut Grove. There was plenty of room for our tree small tents and five people. It was beautiful. We saw lots of fun local wildlife. Incredible weekend.

We came in late and left early, so didn’t get to spend any time exploring, but had a lovely peaceful night. The kitchen pavilion was great, lovely not to need to bring a tarp with rain threatening, and if we come back our children will love the little playground structure.

Susan’s land is a great place to get outside! There’s plenty of room on site as well as a clean composting toilet. We went into Shenandoah NP which was about 30 minutes from the site. Two very sweet dogs greeted us and said goodbye when we left! They provided a good amount of fire wood and there’s also a trashcan on site.

Road was good for a minivan but a low sports car I might be careful. Firewood supplied was very good addition. Pavilion has power and was handy although we had planned for not having power anyway. Just was friendly and saw him for firewood and questions shortly after we were there and didn’t need anything after. Booked primarily for location near skyline drive and was great for it. There is plenty of services in front royal and not far from there. Cute dogs visited. Would use again.

We had an absolute blast at Kitchen Camp at Piedmont farm. The grounds were well maintained and perfect for tent camping and cooking. We had 3 kids under 6 and they loved running around and going on the playset. Stargazing at night was phenomenal as well.
For our kids, we brought a portable toddler potty as the composting toilet might be a bit daunting for little ones. Also would recommend connecting with the hosts ahead of the trip so that there is firewood ready if you intend to cook or do a campfire. Definitely bring your own charcoal if you're using the kitchen grill. Also, likely due to a very dry fall, the sink had a pretty slow trickle of water. Definitely need to pack in your own potable water. We used about 3 gallons for our crew for one night stay.
Road Access to the site is a little rugged. My minivan did just fine, but could see it being more challenging if there is rain or mud.
Overall a fantastic time, will definitely be back again soon!!

Looking for backwoods, primitive camping this fits the bill. No one met us, no one responded to text messages or phone call. A tad pricey for no amenities. “Toilet available “ is a tricky way of wording it without saying pit toilet. Just be honest

Myself and my group really enjoyed our stay here! It was nice to have a outdoor kitchen area and a big open field which we shared with some bunnies :) the other site is close by but you cannot see each other unless you need to walk over to the bathroom. Pretty private and lots of space to roam and play without disturbing the other campsite.

A wonderful experience, very hands off and fun for those who just want to enjoy privacy and a nice location. They also have 3 dogs who roam the property, which was a nice added protection during the night. Overall would recommend highly and I do feel I will be returning in the near future!

We had a great time here. More than we expected. They had plenty of wood for us and a super enjoyable space to cook, rest, and relax. We were super close to Shenandoah and able to get over 10 miles of hiking done in the park each day. Fall colors were excellent!

This site is so lovely! Very spacious with perfectly spaced trees for a hammock :) It felt remote while still being close to other fun places (a few orchards and The Apple House!)

Overall, the experience was sub-par. The description was inaccurate, as there was no bathroom. The host was not responsive on the app when we were trying to find our site, and the directions to get there were not the greatest. Once on the property, it was tolerable, but definitely not worth the price.

Can't put into words the amazing time we had. We celebrated my son's 7th bday and he didn't want to leave. One word of advice, if you go walking through the trails pants, socks and hats are highly recommended and deet yourself up. We had so many ticks but no complaints because it comes with the territory(literally). We loved the farm/guard dogs. They came to say hello and off they went, they came at the end to say goodbye too. We found so many different moth caterpillars, bees that made a nest in the ground, stick insects and inch worms, sooo cool. We will be back. Loved this place!

Really cool place, very nice host. They've put a lot of work into garden and structures around the property. We stayed at site with outdoor kitchen, would like to stay longer next time.
