Absolutely loved staying here! Will definitely return one day. The site was right on the river and we were able to jump on in with our floats and fish off the bank. John was super helpful during our entire stay. Highly recommend the tent that John provides— it had a full sized memory foam mattress, couch and a ton of space to store all of our camping gear. It was my 9 year old daughter’s first time camping and she didn’t want to leave!

Such a cool little spot along the River! John opened up his spot for us to last minute camp, which we really appreciate. We’ll definitely come back in the summer for tubing!

Our host John met us at the entrance of the campsite and came down with us and showed us around. John was a very humble and Informative host. He then left us alone to enjoy our site. It was very serene sitting by the river for the time that we were down there fishing was great. The bugs were minimal and the space was plenty. I would recommend this site to anybody wanting to have some alone time with a loved one or family . Fishing was great. My son and my wife caught fish while we were there. Of course I didn’t have any luck because my wife took it all. Lol I very very, very, very highly recommend this site and I will be back again .

This was my 2nd stay at this wonderful site. The fishing was good and the stay was relaxing despite crazy storms. John has done a bit of work to the road coming down into the site since last year. My 4x4 crawled right on out despite the mud.

John is a great host and was more than accommodating. The site was beautiful and our family had a blast, will def be back. Our tent was too big for the platform which I think was 12x12 but we were able to drive right up to the site with our 2 4x4 suvs. If you have a car you will have to walk to site but it isn’t bad. Yes there is a port a potty up the hill and a hot shower in a barn bay but there is a platform you can stand on. I was very pleased and recommend to everyone and even kayakers going by complimented the site and setup. Also loved the fact that he has hats and tumblers to remember the visit but unfortunately we didn’t bring extra money or I would have bought 2 hats!!!!

Had a great time at site 1! The river is beautiful and the kids loved swimming in the water. The views are incredible and had some luck catching small mouth right from the shore. Would definitely recommend.

Pros: Great location right by the river. John was extremely helpful and kind! We took advantage of renting fishing poles, kayaks and tubes during from John during our trip, and John took us to drop us off at the landing! We were able to float down in about 2.5 hours and got out right at the campsite. We were also able to purchase firewood from John directly and he kept us stocked all weekend.
The site has 3 existing fire pits and John has some chairs and tables already set out to use as well.
John was very informative about the local area, and all around just a great guy to talk to. He’s been renting out this spot for about a year now and you can tell he really cares about your experience. At the end of the trip he asked what he could improve and was open to all suggestions we had.
The shower and portapotty was up a small hill by the house. The shower had instantaneous hot water and was very nice after a long day of camping.

Our group had a great time tent camping alongside the New River. John was extremely helpful hauling our stuff down the hill to our site (4 wheel drive needed due to muddy weather) brought us firewood, gave us great recommendations and even picked us up at the end of our float down the river. The view is beautiful and the site is right on the water. Would definitely return and recommend to anyone. The kayak rental and firewood available for purchase was also so nice! the shower and port a potty were also a great addition while still feeling like you are truly camping. Thank you so much for sharing your land John!

It was not what we expected. The access to get to the New River is awkward and mucky. You can not pull up to the further site with your vehicle so it is walk-in only. The toilet is a port-a-potty that is accessed by walking back up the steep driveway access and crossing the road to owner's residence. The potable water and shower is in owner's barn next to the port-a-potty. The shower is not a private stall but in a dark barn with a hand held shower head where there is a rug on the ground you stand on to shower. We chose not to stay and looked for another place to camp.

It was a great site to be at. No one rented the other spot so we had the whole area to ourselves. When we arrived John helped us bring our stuff down which was a great help. We had two tents set up and had plenty of space to fish and have a fire going. We even caught a catfish and a carp! My dog loved being out there and running around, she even jumped in the water just to test it! John had a hot tap shower that felt great to use after a day of sweating. I would improve it by making a platform to stand on as the floor is dirt and does get muddy. Overall a good place to be!

This a a great spot right on the New River! The site is easy access right below the road by the river side. We were a little nervous about hearing cars pass by all night, but it is not a busy road so the site stays quiet and private.
John was an excellent host. He communicated with us ahead of time so we knew exactly where to go and what to expect. He met us right as we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the site and made sure we knew he was there if we needed anything during our stay.
It was a very pleasant experience overall and we would not hesitate to stay at this site again.

This is a very pleasant stretch of the New River.
We had two dogs, two kids and two adults for a few days camping on the river.
John is a friendly host who was very helpful to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

John's campground is located on one of the prettiest parts of the New River. Each site has river front perfect for fishing, kayaking, swimming or just enjoying a quiet, peaceful camping experience. The campsite had everything you needed. John and Sherri were great hosts that greeted us upon check in and check out. We will definitely go back and this could be possibly one of our favorite places.

John and his wife were absolutely great. If you needed something they were very responsive and helpful and if not they didn't bother us at all. His shower set up is rustic but wonderful. Hot water as long as you want. Now for the site, we were right on the river under some trees and it is perfect. Quiet and peaceful and will absolutely stay again. We had our dogs and they had a wonderful time and they were welcomed just like they were our kids. He kept plenty of wood, kayaks were so much fun and he doesn't charge an ungodly price. We can't say enough good things about this place, well maintained, next to river, dogs vertical welcome, GREAT shower and absolutely perfect host. Will be staying again in a few weeks so guys if you want a quiet place by the river then this is it. Water was 2-6' deep depending on were we were at
Kids wouldn't have any issue here. This is tent camping at its best. If you don't try this spot you're missing something special with some great campground owners/hosts. 5 stars all the way

Beautiful spot right on the bank on the New River. I will definitely be back again when I can hang out during the day and enjoy the river more. John was a great host and very accommodating allowing me to camp even though I checked in later than I had hoped. Beautiful area with another side about 50 yards away so so something to consider is your family makes a lot of noise.

This spot is great. There are a couple camp spots to rent that are some what close together. We were lucky to not have to share the space while we were there. I suppose you could rent both camp spots if you want the place to yourself. However, there is ample room along the banks of the New River. We rented our spot last minute after our normal spot was occupied in Ivanhoe. John was very accommodating and very helpful. He is a great host. The communication with him was excellent. We met him in person once we got to the site. He made absolutely sure we had everything we needed.
The pro: I mentioned this spot is absolutely awesome right? If you love fishing like I do you will most definitely appreciate this spot as much as I did. There are 2 or 3 cleared off spots where you can fish right from the bank. The grounds are clean and well maintained. I fished the whole time I was there...and finally decided I needed a nap about 5 am Tuesday morning. The bite was slow due to the full moon but I absolutely enjoyed my self immensely. It was rather romantic watching the beautiful full moon coming up over the magestic New River.

The drive way was a bit tough due to it being wet. John said someone messed it up getting out due to previous rain. The drive way might be challenging to someone who has a regular rear wheel drive if it is wet. It's steep. John added gravel and sand to the bad spots while we were there and my SUV came out with no issue.
