Tony, one of your hosts at Country Camping at It’s Best, is one of the nicest people we’ve met in our travels for Hipcamp. He and his wife, Cheryll, have a 46 acre horse ranch that also includes sheep and a sweet, sweet cat.
Located in Virginia and just a few miles from the North Carolina line, this property has several different places for you to pitch your tent. You can hug the fence line if you want a clear view of the farm and the horses or you can go back into the woods on some of the trails they’ve made and find a spot of your own. They have a few clearings back there that are level and private. Tony said he’s in the process of making two fire pits and will have them available for campers to use.
If you’re in an RV or a van, no worries, there are several places to choose from. We found a spot not too far from the tent sites that had good shade, a view of the beautiful pasture and was easy to turn around. It was also level.
No matter what kind of camping you’ll be doing, be sure to take a walk back on some of the trails and check out the swamp. There’s a lot to love about this spot! We hope you’ll give it a shot if you’re looking for a quiet getaway, are interested in staying on a farm or are just passing through!
