Tarantula Ranch is inside a fenced compound two miles off the nearest paved road. We are in the Chihuhuan desert wilderness. Experience life at the end of the road!! Neighbors are far away so we have some of the darkest skies in the world not to mention peace and quiet with no traffic. We have spectacular mountain views with great sunrise and sunsets. Our terrain is the Chihuhuan desert which has cactus covered rocky mountains with all the desert plants. Although we have privacy we are only about 35 to 40 minutes from the Big Bend National Park and The Big Bend Ranch State Park. Although we are remote we have a very nice swimming pool and restaurant only about ten to fifteen minutes away. We have two cabins we rent out. The big cabin has four rooms and sleeps six. The other cabin is called the small cabin it is one room and sleeps two.

Tarantula Ranch Vacation Rentals (Smaller)

Cabin · Sleeps 2
This small cabin is perfect for solo travelers or couples. Visitors from around the world stay here when they come to explore Big Bend, Texas. The cabin features a queen-size bed, a bright yellow metal dining table with blue metal chairs, a small refrigerator, a cooking area, satellite TV with movie channels, Wi-Fi, an indoor hot shower, and a toilet. All the essentials are provided indoors, so you don’t need to drive five miles for a shower or go outside to use the bathroom or cook. It’s spacious enough that you won’t have to eat or sleep standing up. If you’re planning to wake up, make breakfast, get ready to head into the national park for the day, and then return to a hot shower, a homemade dinner, some TV, and a comfortable bed, this cabin will be perfect for you. However, if you’re coming to Big Bend National Park to sit around all day doing needlepoint or reading a book, that might drive me crazy, but then again, I’m an ex-coach who doesn’t even know how to read. Several people have asked for a photo of the cabin. While I don’t have one yet, you can check out my other website, which has photos of the donkeys—perhaps that will give you a better idea. But remember, you’re here to experience a national treasure, Big Bend National Park, not to study architecture or interior design. Since I’m not great with computers, posting a photo of the cabin is a very low priority for me. All I can say is, the cabins keep out the rain and the coyotes (so far). You’re welcome to explore anywhere inside our compound and some of the roads outside. Just check with me, and I’ll be happy to help. We also have two friendly burros (donkeys) that hang out in the area, and they’re always fun to interact with.
