Nice, spacious and open minded. We’ve only found out out they’re closing next month when we got there. I hope the new Cosmico will be equally good.

Love El Cósmico and wanted to camp one last time at the original location. I was sad to see how poorly maintained it is now. I got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, and sliced my leg open on a rusty path light that was burned out. Next day was told they don’t keep a first aid kit anywhere on property, which is insanely irresponsible. The trash from Friday night’s party was still untouched on the picnic tables by the time I checked out on Sunday. I think I’ve just outgrown this experience between the place being dirty and not having basic supplies.

I enjoyed camping in my tent at El Cosmico; it has to be the cheapest way to stay in Marfa and felt safe. Some train, road and nearby trailer park noise throughout the night, some loud birds in the morning but I still slept fine. Not much, if any, shade for campsites but it's West Texas after all.
For a campground, good showers/bathrooms. However, for a hotel/airbnb pretty "rustic" showers/bathrooms with limited privacy.

Great location right in the city. Good Vibes and privacy.
If you are self camping, the camp sites are not directly accessible with your car so you need to park it and take all your stuff with you to your campsite which is bit inconvenient.

We loved staying at El Cosmico. We adored the funky vibe. The outdoor bathrooms and showers were fun. I wish we would have had time to use the hot tub.

Self Camping at El Cosmico
This was our second great stay at El Cosmico. We love coming here and exploring Marfa. Even though we just sleep in the parking lot in our van, we use the common spaces and the showers - which are lovely outdoor showers.

We did self camping. Good amount of flat land available for tents. Indoor and outdoor bathrooms were nice. Only problem was the outdoor toilets and showers have gaping holes which left me feeling exposed to any passerby. Would still stay here again. Was a bit close to a busy road, but i slept fine.

Overall the space at El Cosmico is really enjoyable. There are paths you can walk through and the outdoor showers are really enjoyable on a hot day. However, there were a few things we were misled about when it comes to the space. The pictures make it look like there's a pool on the property which isn't the case. It's down the road at a hotel which isn't the most convenient since we were car camping. The car camping was just the main parking lot that everyone was driving in and out of. No designated spot. No outlets. Nothing that made it worth the $40 we paid per night to park in parking lot. Apart from the people coming in and out - the road noise was constant. I think if you're staying in one of their units it might be worth staying there otherwise we would have rather supported a state park and set up our rig there instead.

Lovely people and good coffee, and I suspect it’s well worth it in season, but as it was, it’s hard to justify $50 per weekend night for dry camping in a muddy parking lot next to a highway and a train.

Saddened by our experience this time since we’ve previously enjoyed the stop so much. This trip was an important one so we knew we’d make El Cosmico a priority after having such a great experience before. Unfortunately this was probably our last. We didn’t have access to reliable hot water with outside temps being 30 and below. The outside sinks were also not operable when we tried using them so hand washing wasn’t available in the morning. We paid to self camp so paid $90+ to sleep in our own van for 2 nights with no showers etc. I purchased things from the gift shop and always try to patronize outside of a paid visit but unfortunately I can’t say I’ll be back. Having to take an outdoor cold shower in that weather was absolutely miserable. We tried getting help with the issues but they were never resolved. I’d think with it being a slow season things would be operable for the folks stopping in. Be warned even if you ask if these things are available and are told yes you could make the drive only to end up in a similar situation.

My first of two days there the shower was cold and the bath house heater broken. I had been looking forward to a shower, so I gritted my teeth and dealt with it. But a hot shower is why I booked, so I was disappointed in this not being up to standard. It would have been fair to be offered at least a partial refund, but when I inquired about the availability of hot water, support simply thanked me for alerting them. The next day's shower was hot, so I got one out of two hot showers I'd been looking forward to.
The lights at night were really cool and gave a festive vibe even though almost nobody was there when I stayed. There was no wayfinding relative to the gift shop being open or not, nor anything as far as where to ask for assistance. A simple open sign or something about where the management would be available would have been appreciated.
Otherwise a peaceful spot!

I had to pay $50 to stay in a parking lot next to other cars. The campsite itself was really great, super nice people but I feel $50 for a parking spot is super greedy, I don’t understand why there are no smaller spots within the campground for Vans. The venue is super cool, they sell cool stuff.

Campsite was beautiful, had all the amenities we needed (hot shower, sink, clean bathrooms, firepit) You can hear the coyotes howling in the distance at night and there's a nice bench on top of the ridge nearby to see the sunrise. Host provided firewood and was very welcoming.

We stayed here three nights, went down to Terlingua/Big Bend for three nights then didn’t hesitate to stay at El Cosmico again on our way back. We slept in our van in the lot one night and tent camped the other nights. The lounge with wifi was wonderful for getting some work done or just enjoying the complimentary coffee in the morning. The outdoor kitchen came in handy to do some dishes and make tea in the evening. Both the indoor and outdoor bathrooms were clean and much appreciated. Yes, there’s some road noise, but it didn’t hurt our enjoyment of El Cosmico.

El Cosmico is a great option for anyone wanting to stay in Marfa. Self-camping is easy with access to good restrooms and a lovely space to hang out in. They also have great coffee served in the morning!
Our only complaint was the noise. It’s near a busy road, very close to a train, lots of barking from dogs, and the people around us were a bit loud. These noises could be minimized if you camp in a spot away from the path and further from the bathrooms though!

Great location and overall a pretty cool spot. Has free coffee in the morning too. If you're bringing an RV/camper just know RV spots are in the parking lot excluded from the general camping area.

Know before you go- RV camping is in the parking lot with no hookups. So if you're bringing an RV you won't be in the actual campground. Otherwise it's a pretty cool spot and I enjoyed my stay. Great location and free coffee in the morning. I recommend

Tent camping at el cosmico with 2 kids was easy and fun. We were there in early March and it was very quiet only a few other tents. The location is great for checking out Marfa and surrounding region including Fort Davis. Outdoor shower was perfect and common spaces were fun to hang out in. You are right off a main road so there is some road noise but overnight was pretty quiet.

We were aware that we would be parked in a parking lot but no one mentioned it was right by a noisy highway. Felt very removed from the rest of the facility. We did not stay the two nights we had planned, only one. Staff were not exactly helpful and provided misinformation frequently.
