Learn more about this land: Hipcampers can expect to see one of the darkest skies in Central Texas, located far enough away from Austin and Dallas light pollution to clearly see the Milky Way on a cloudless night. Drive carefully on the dirt roads leading to the ranch; as deer are plentiful all around the property. Wildlife viewing is exceptional, with a wide range of animals typical of the rolling hills of Central Texas Hillcountry. The property has patches of open meadows speckled with hundreds of large, beautiful heritage trees including Live Oaks, Red Oaks, Cedar Elms, and Pecans. There are two small ponds on the property, with plenty of frogs and typical aquatic species providing a natural soundscape at night. Feel free to explore the site on foot or vehicles, but please keep vehicles only on existing dirt roads (no off-roading allowed). Feel free to use the RV hookup at the green metal building, and enjoy the stunning sunset views of the Texas Hillcountry from the elevated wooden deck connected to the building. The large propane grill (propane provided) on the wooden deck is also available for camper use. Campers can make a campfire in the designated fire pit only, and you must bring your own firewood. Campers may use the outdoor shower station, but you must bring your own water and mobile shower bag to hang from the hook at the top of the shower station.

I really enjoyed staying at the Pond Site. If you enjoy the peace and quiet of being at a remote site like I do then you'll love this place. There are several beautiful views of the pond. The drive to the Pond site takes you through an amazing meadow that has a wonderful diversity of blooming native plants. In the morning driving out we saw several cute baby bunnies hopping across the road. Andy and Christopher were very helpful and answered any questions I had promptly. I've stayed there twice.

Words can't even describe how much we enjoyed our stay at Andy, Chris, and Erik's spot at Comanche Oaks Ranch. It was extremely private, which is exactly what we were looking for to start our spring break trip. They also handled our last-minute booking wonderfully, as the previous spot we were looking at canceled on us at the last minute. We are so happy it did because we wouldn't have had the chance to stay at Chris, Andy, and Erik's land. Everything was as described, and the directions and map provided were perfect and easy to follow. Our kids enjoyed exploring, and our dogs absolutely loved running around and being free. We truly had a wonderful experience at the very remote and private camping spot. You'll need a full camp setup and the ability to pack out everything. There was an option for the use of the propane grill, but we didn't need it as we were able to bring all our own things. The land was truly wonderful, and we had such a relaxing time. We look forward to coming back and maybe bringing some friends next time.

Communication was very good and the property was very nice. I would recommend for anyone wanting to go off grid for a bit. Very quiet and isolated!

If you want a peaceful getaway in the middle of nowhere this is the place! Wildflowers, birds and butterflies provided an endless source of entertainment against a backdrop of ancient oaks and prairie grasses during our stay. This is a beautiful slice of heaven and I can’t wait to return!
