Wow! We stayed in the Vineyard cabin and it was beautiful! The cabin had everything we needed. The bathrooms, kitchen, linens, everything was spotless. The hot tub overlooking the creek was such an amazing touch. We were even able to go see the ponies! I would highly recommend and will definitely be back!!

My wife and I came in for just one night and absolutely loved our cabin. It was so quiet with very thoughtful touches. The hot tub + front gated fence (we brought our dogs) made the place 10 out of 10. We also loved the ponies!

We loved the beautiful cabin that we stayed in for New Years weekend. There is a ravine with flowing water just beyond the back porch which was gorgeous. We loved sitting on the back porch and hearing the water. The interior was so homey and comfortable and we enjoyed the fenced in front yard for our 2 fur babies. We loved relaxing in the hot tub, and star gazing at night. We also enjoyed driving into Fredericksburg - it’s an easy 10min drive. Jean was so thoughtful and attentive to detail. We would highly recommend!

Truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with any rental property. This was better than some I’ve had in far more luxurious or exotic destinations. The owners were super accommodating and essentially saved my butt during my fiancé birthday but that was just the bonus.
Property was exactly if not better than the photos. View was great. Amenities were incredible including hot tub. But for us the amenities were funny little chickens, sweet little barn cats, and feisty little mini horses bounding all around. And the country music already playing as I walked in the door… just incredible. We plan on returning this month!

Vineyard Cliff-Side Cabin
City On A Hill exceeded our expectations. The cabin was cute, very clean, and in a perfect location. The surrounding area was beautiful and secluded, yet we were only 15 minutes from town so we were able to do everything on our itinerary. We'll definitely stay at City On A Hill again when we're in Fredericksburg.

We had a fantastic and private stay. Jean was exceptionally helpful with setting up a surprise plan with me for my fiancé and the cabin was perfect. Private hot tub, quiet/ removed area, lots of wildlife and even a sweet neighborhood cat named Meadow. Couldn’t have asked for more from this sweet hideaway.

Everything about this place was amazing! It literally had everything we needed for the perfect long weekend away. The location was great as we were close to Fredericksburg for our friend's wedding and Enchanted Rock for hiking, but far enough out that it truly felt like "getting away". The cabin was the perfect size for us and our two dogs, with a small fenced yard and two huge porches. The kitchen had everything we wanted to make our little pre-made meals from heb. Jean's hospitality was unmatched, and she even offered some extra amenities before our trip - I was able to add on some absolutely incredible surprises that were waiting for us when we arrived. We really enjoyed exploring the property, meeting the horses, and playing in the creek. This could not have been a better vacation!

Grace’s place was the perfect weekend getaway for my husband and I. After a day of visiting nearby wineries and other attractions it was nice to come home to a private hot tub and relax. It was a perfect touch to the cute rustic cabin. We enjoyed coffee on the back porch with an amazing view of Spring Creek, which we caught a few fish in. The host was super helpful with answering questions and very responsive. We hope to come back soon and stay longer!

Amazing location! Near Fredericksburg, but out on a ranch. Hot tub was perfect and the grill great for cooking out. Accommodation had all needed amenities and was really clean and comfortable.

I checked into the Vineyard cabin at City on a Hill on a Tuesday afternoon and checked out that Friday morning. I had such a great time, but I wish I had arrived a day early. I wasn't ready to leave.
The location is very roughly 20 minutes outside of downtown Fredericksburg. The cabin is adorable. The attention to detail in the decor is so fun. Although I did not indulge, next time I will definitely spend time in the hot tub on the back porch. The water was a very nice temperature, and it is obviously kept very clean. There is a white picket fence out front, which is perfect if you bring a furry companion. I saw lots of deer, a pony named Sugar, and a very sweet affectionate donkey. If you bring fruit or vegetables, you can feed Sugar. The donkey needs to be on a diet. Lol.
My friends rented a different cabin that is a two bedroom. There were pro's and con's to each. I prefer the decor in this cabin, but the front porch on the other had a better view. The wifi in the other cabin was better too. The wifi is sufficient to do a little bit of internet surfing in this one, but it did not work well for a happy hour video zoom.
I highly recommend Fredericksburg for a dog friendly vacation. If you bring your pal along, make sure you check out Dogology in downtown Fredericksburg. In addition to being a fun place to shop for all things dog, they also rent strollers to wheel your dog around. Dog nanny services are also offered where you can leave your dog in one of their kennels for a couple of hours if you decide to dine indoors. No need to leave your dog if you just want to shop. Most stores on Main Street are dog friendly. (Although I did see two stores that required you to carry your dog around the store, probably because there were breakables). Many of the outdoor patios permit dogs and there are a good number of vineyards that welcome them too.
Although not dog friendly, Heath was by far my favorite vineyard that we visited. It has a very swanky feel, and I love that they included a small food pairing. I also recommend Creek Street (limo) wine tours. It was not nearly as expensive as I thought it would be, and the price includes lunch and tastings.

I stayed at the Vineyard cabin in 2020. It was a very relaxing cabin experience with all of the comforts from home. Stars are very visible at night, the creek out back is nice to swim in, and there are donkeys/ponys onsite! There are plenty of wildlife from deer to armadillos. There are lots of wineries nearby and Fredericksburg is only 15 minutes away.

We really enjoyed our stay at City on a Hill at Spring Creek. We loved being able to dip into the hot tub at night and first thing in the morning. The location is far away enough from town to feel remote and close enough to get to the amazing wineries and restaurants around.
Jean's instructions leading up to our visit were clear and thorough.

Our stay at Vineyard did not disappoint! As soon as we pulled up to our rustic cliffside cottage, we cozied up on the porch to read and take in the views. From the porch you can hear the creek trickling and can see the hill country roll on and on. We took some time to walk across the dam and explore different parts of the property and got to meet some of the animals running around - donkeys and a mini horse! We also saw cows, TONS of deer, different kinds of birds, and armadillos.
We loved having the hot tub on the porch to relax in after we spent some time walking around and exploring. From the hot tub, you can see the creek and at night you can see tons of stars!
The inside of the cabin is immaculate and full of windows so that you can take in the outdoors from the comfort of an air conditioned bed. There was a big bed, a comfy couch, a kitchen area and a spacious bathroom. We used the electric grill found on the porch to grill up some meat and enjoyed dinner on the porch. We got back in the hottub, and then came inside to play games and watch movies on the TV.
The Vineyard is only about 20 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg which is full of shops, wineries, fruit stands, and peach orchards. And about 40 minutes from the vineyard you can find Enchanted Rock, which is one of my all time favorite places to hike, rock climb, and crawl through caves - if the weather is nice be sure to show up early!
Definitely recommend spending an evening relaxing at the Vineyard.
