Boondocks Campground — True Off-Grid Camping Near Lake Barkley Some campgrounds are parking lots with picnic tables. This isn't one of them. Boondocks Campground is a quiet, wooded retreat on a well-maintained gravel road in the rolling hardwood hills of Stewart County, Tennessee. We offer multiple RV sites with real distance between them — no hookups, no utilities, no crowds. Just you, your rig, and the woods. If you're self-contained and looking to unplug, this is your spot. Site 1 runs 15 x 60 ft, Site 2 is 18 x 40 ft, and Site 3 is 20 x 50 ft... each with its own fire ring and plenty of privacy. There's extra room for boats, trailers, and whatever toys you're hauling to the lake. When you feel like company, a communal fire pit in the roundabout makes a natural gathering spot — that's where the evening stories tend to happen. We keep firewood on hand for sale, so the campfire never has to go out early. Fair warning: this is genuine boondocking. You bring your water, power, and waste setup, and in exchange you get shade, birdsong, and a night sky the way it looked before streetlights. Quieter inverter generators are welcome; quiet hours start at 10 pm. Cell signal reaches out here, but just barely — most guests decide that's the point. The lake is the other half of the story. A public boat ramp on Lake Barkley sits just a half mile away, with more ramps scattered nearby, and Kentucky Lake and Land Between the Lakes are a short drive down the road. Fish in the morning, ride the LBL trails in the afternoon, come back to the woods at night. Leashed pets are welcome. If your idea of camping involves a self-contained rig, a good fire, and nobody parked ten feet from your door, come see us.

RV / Camp Site 1

RV/tent site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 60 ft
Site 1 — The Big Slot (15 x 60) Site 1 is our longest spot at 15 x 60 ft, with room for larger rigs and tow setups. It's tucked into mature hardwoods with genuine separation from Site 2 and Site 3 so you won't be sharing your morning coffee view with the neighbors unless you want to. The site has its own fire ring, and firewood is available on site so you can keep it burning as long as the stories last. This is a true boondocking site: no water, power, or sewer, so arrive self-contained. Quieter inverter generators are welcome, with quiet hours starting at 10 pm. There's additional parking nearby for a boat or extra vehicle, and the Lake Barkley boat ramp is just a half mile away. Shade, quiet, dark skies, and space to spread out. That's the whole pitch.

RV / Camp Site 2

RV/tent site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 60 ft
Site 2 — The Wide Spot (18 x 40) Site 2 trades a little length for extra elbow room — at 18 x 40 ft, it's one of our wider sites, with plenty of space to put out the slides, roll out the awning, and set up camp chairs without feeling boxed in. It comfortably handles travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes up to around 40 ft, with nearby parking for your truck, boat, or extra vehicle. It's tucked into mature hardwoods with real separation from the neighbors — this is a three site campground, and it feels like it. You get your own fire ring, with firewood available on site, and dark skies overhead once the fire burns down.
