Austin Memorial Park is a fantastic, highly private place to camp. The property spans over a mile in length yet features only eight campsites total, making for an exceptionally peaceful experience.
We stayed at Site 1, located on a private drive at the north end alongside Site 2. Site 1 is incredibly spacious—easily large enough to accommodate multiple cars, a large family, or a good-sized group. It comes well-equipped with a picnic table, a barbecue grill, two fire pits, and sits right alongside a scenic creek.
A few highlights from our trip:
Stargazing: Visiting in October was perfect—the fallen leaves opened up the tree canopy for incredible night skies.
The Dam Walk: While we didn't explore the park's hiking trails, the walk from our site down to the actual dam was fascinating and a must-see.
Convenience & Privacy: It feels wonderfully secluded, but firewood is still easy to come by—a vendor sells wood about five minutes north of the park.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely plan on returning. Highly recommended!
