Located along the quiet banks of Mud Creek on our 60+ acre family-owned resort, Basecamp offers a peaceful, primitive camping experience surrounded by nature. Enjoy the soothing sounds of Mud Creek right from your campsite. Wildlife sightings are common wild turkey, deer, rabbits, and the rare white squirrel all call this area home. Tent Camping Only - No Drive-In Access This is walk-in camping. Vehicles are not allowed at campsites, you’ll park in our entrance lot and take a short walk to your site. Campsites are primitive, bring your own gear and tent. I booked the campsite and about an hour later there was a message saying to contact the host. The host told me all 25 of their campsites all of a sudden we’re not available but he had another option for me. His option was putting me on a disc golf trail, 3/4 of a mile out onto their property. He said nothing in regards to use of showers as listed, no campfires were allowed, and there was no designated area for camping. I had to find my own place to be able to set up my tent. I don’t recommend this property for said reasons and suggest that if booking here, to take caution.

The site where we stayed (not near the river) was a beautiful site. Plenty of room, near a sweet little pond. I should have read the description more clearly but it is a short hike from parking to camping. It’s short but when you have a lot of camping gear then it’s a little inconvenient. Be ready to carry your gear. Also, it is near the Asheville airport and the planes flew overhead at least every 30 minutes. It was very loud! Not the peace and quite we were looking for. There were random people walking through our site one morning so it is not private. We were given the choice to stay at the camp near the river but we walked down to the site on the last day and I’m very glad we did not stay there! The path to the site was not well marked and the grass was very tall! It was sort of laying flat but there is no way it was fit for anyone to camp there. Also the coordinates we were given for the address did not take us to the site. You have to call to get directions.

I booked the site last minute and the place was okay. First, we were a handful user's first there in the season. Second, I would make some recommendations and they are as follows; Have Porter potty for waste disposal. It's going to create a user impact if people are digging cat holes everywhere. Third , build fire ring and let campers use some of the wood, your company just logged. Make the camp site more inviting with a lighted path. And finally, just make people feel at home. Your company operates a high end resort and you can totally make some glamping camp sites back there. There is so much potential. I wouldn't stay here again until things improve.

Excellent Location Many tent & hammock options Plentiful firewood River & Creek side, great for a paddle up site Parking for a large number of cars near the hotel is a challenge. Campground dedicated parking is in the works. Walk 1/2 mile up to the Elevation Chophouse for dinner, drinks, & cigars around the fire pit. Our group of 8-12 Camp at different location the first Friday of every month. This location will be a regular in our yearly rotation.

Camp SKYLARANNA
Great spot, isolated by woods and wetlands and not a house in sight despite the relatively short hike in. The hike was easy and mostly flat, definitely kid friendly (my 5 y/o did it with no complaints including a pack). The site itself was a nice, open clearing, well manicured with plenty of options for tent sites. Note that there is no dedicated fire pit (at least not yet), but we were able to find a nice sandy spot and had no issues. There was plenty of firewood available from both driftwood and some brush clearing on the site, but beware as we found several snake skins when gathering. The only two cons we had were: -some really aggressive mosquitoes. Bring heavy duty bug spray (this is probably seasonal). -the site is in the flyover for Asheville airport, so if you want total quiet, note that you’ll still have a fair number of planes flying over. Wasn’t a big deal for us, though.

Such a great property! It's on a hotel resort lot so there is a proper parking lot, a main building with a pool and restaurant. The camping site is a 3/4 mile walk in to The Point camping property. It's an easy hike and it's far enough to where it's still private from the rest of the hotel resort areas. Gorgeous river access at the location, surrounded on two sides!
