What is not to love about this hipcamp. We absolutely loved the seclusion of this site. It was honestly everything we wanted from the trip. We loved the location for adventures and hiking and we're extremely happy with the lean to when it was a bit more rainy than we had hoped. We checked out Lake Ontario and Watkins Glen. If you are looking for a great secluded spot for the night I absolutely recommend this hipcamp.

We just spent 1 night camping here for a quick getaway. Finding the driveway was a little tough as it wasn't marked but when we pulled in, it was a short drive through the woods to the woodsy, secluded site! The lean-to was huge! It was able to fit a 4-person tent inside plus had extra room on the sides for belongings. The firepit was right outside of the lean-to which was convenient. The outhouse was clean and a short walk away from the hangout area. I would suggest bringing extra lights! It got so dark at night being surrounded by all the trees. As it is early spring, the trails around the site were pretty muddy and we couldn't figure out where they lead to but we also were not trying hard to walk too far out. We ended up discovering a pond but we were not sure who owned it since there was a house pretty close by. We loved the sound of owls at night and gazing at the bright stars! Our 2 golden retrievers came with us and absolutely loved frolicking through the woods, although they did get several ticks. Overall a great stay! Very glad we went.

LOVED this site! Very private and secluded place to camp and relax after a day full of hiking. Absolutely great for dogs! My two dogs were off leash and had the time of their lives! We enjoyed a lovely morning walking around the pond. Will definitely be back.

I really enjoyed camping on John’s land! It was secluded and peaceful. A shory beautiful drive to local wineries and amazing views of the Finger Lakes. Will definitely be back!

The lean-to was much larger than I expected and its spaciousness was a pleasant surprise over a rainy weekend. Plenty of safe space amongst the trees for my pup and I to wander. Everything is so beautiful on the property. I already want to visit again because it was the perfect setting close enough to home. Despite their being endless amounts of firewood, I’d recommend bringing a dry bundle or two if you are expecting rain on your trip, I know that’s what I’ll do next time :)

Nice quiet, private site. Lean-to by the fire provided a nice area for supplies! Set up in the woods on the way to the pond and stayed pretty dry despite occasional rain showers. Awesome place, want to go back!

Nice little camping area, quiet and peaceful, outhouse well maintained, fire pit is great right next to the leanto which is great for occasional unexpected showers. Pond is beautiful.

Nice campsite with sturdy, dry lean-to. We slept in hammock tents in strong trees. Very serene. Big fire pit with grill. Would stay again.

This spot was perfect for private and primitive type camping. It was a short walk down a well maintained trail to a beautiful pond where my dogs loved being. It was quiet, serene, and peaceful; I loved the sounds of nature all around me. The lean-to is right next to the fire pit, making for a cozy little spot to relax around the fire bug free. I will be back for sure.

We had a great time staying here! Storms rolled in earlier than expected and we were glad to have a roof over our heads. The kids kept raving about how this was "the BEST campsite EVER" and how we should camp here every night. There are some very nice paths through the pine forest to the pond, which we did not utilize but looked very swimmable. The site is nextdoor to the host's home but has its own private driveway and is nestled far back in the woods- you can't see or hear anything back there. The kids found toads and spotted salamanders in the woods and slept SO well to the sound of the rain on the metal roof. You can park right next to the shelter if you want to, and the outhouse is clean and comfortable. I absolutely recomment this spot!

I loved camping here! As much as I dont want this place to get popular (for selfish reasons) I have to leave a fantastic review. I've camped all over the country and this is by far my favorite place for casual and private camping. Reading on the hill by the lake or even sitting by the fire listening to the birds it was an amazing time and truly felt private. My dog loved it as well.

We had a wonderful stay! This was our second trip and has become our favorite spot to camp. The position of the fireplace keeps the lean-to nice and warm during cooler weather. The set up is fantastic and it is pretty quiet. Will stay again next year.

Excellent location with a great set-up! The lean-to was perfect to set up an air matress and sleeping bags. The fire area made the lean-to really cozy on chilly nights. The table was great and the outhouse was very nice and clean. The entrance was challenging to find if you arrive in the dark. There didn't seem to be a great spot to set up a tent, but we enjoyed the lean-to. Super quiet and a nice trail to the pond. Plan to stay again!
