For the last 26 years we have lived here on our 6 acres of property where our Maple Sugar Bush allows us to produce our very own maple syrup every spring. [Side note: The sugar shack itself has been on the property for over 40 years.] We also raise a small but varied collection of farm animals, grow vegetables, and operate a small Market Booth that sells handmade "Canadian Themed" Home Decor goods and Maple Products at the Frontenac Farmer's Market. ( Visit us on Instagram or Facebook @Blackmaplefarm) Our Farm is located on the very edge of the Canadian Shield, so most of the landscape is a rocky, rugged, and naturally wooded. Throughout the property are numerous short, looping, walking trails that meander throughout the Sugar bush, pasture area, 3 season pond, and our farm animal "homes". These trails are perfect for short nature walks, where you'll experience natural wildflowers and plants, see and hear song birds, small animal wildlife and of course, farm life too. We are also located on the edge of the Eastern Ontario "Dark Sky" Area, which means we have a very nice view from the edge of our pasture of the North Sky stars on a clear night, with very minimal light pollution. Our varied collection of farm animals includes; lots of chickens, (including roosters who DO crow in the early morning hours), miniature goats, horses, a couple of barn cats, and a dog. During your stay with us you are welcome to come learn about and interact with our animals and daily farm life, if you so desire, and farm fresh eggs, maple syrup, local honey, and homemade baked goods, are also available to purchase too. Come camp with us, under the BEAUTIFUL grove of Pines, Maples and Oaks here at our Farm.  This is the second of 3 Hipcamp sites available on our property and is a TRADITIONAL WALK-IN ONLY CAMPSITE. (ie: Bring your own tent and camping supplies).   Unfortunately we WILL NO LONGER accommodate Rooftop Tent Vehicles OR Tents attached to Vehicles, nor trailers for sleeping purposes to be parked on the campsite . You must park your vehicle at the parking areas ONLY and WALK-IN to this TENTS ONLY campsite. It is an easy 2 minute walk from parking area to this site and small wagons are provided to help haul your gear. However, you can rent a traditional "6 person" nylon camping tent (which sleeps 4 adults comfortably on air mattresses) If you choose the tent, it will be set up and ready for your arrival. Please check out this option on the "extras" page. The campfire on site also has a metal cooking grate over an open fire, for those so inclined to cook this way. This campsite is nestled under a forest grove of Pine and Maple trees, and sits near the edge of our horse pasture in our small Maple Sugarbush which is part of our 6-acre family hobby farm. The site is nicely shaded and moderately secluded from farm life and our neighbors.  Please note, we are NOT wilderness secluded, we are a RURAL/COUNTRYSIDE property with rural neighbors, whose homes are located in the distance, along the edge of our property.  It is the PERFECT spot for a "family friendly get away" to "The Farm" or a leisurely country "couples getaway" to experience a "hobby farm/small homestead" life. Our property is located on the very edge of the Canadian Shield, therefore most of the landscape is slightly rocky, rugged, and naturally wooded.  But because we are an active sugarbush where we produces maple syrup every spring,  it is NOT densely forested with thick undergrowth, and thus has open visibility throughout the forest, including distant visibility of the other campsite(s) on our property. And you can also see our neighbor's homes in the distance along the edge of our property.  However, the property has a conservation area/park-like " feel"  to it, with numerous short, looping, walking trails that meander throughout the Sugarbush, pasture area,  around our "3 season pond" (ie; it dries up during June, July and August), and of course our farm animal "homes".  These trails are perfect for short nature walks, where you'll experience natural wildflowers, see and hear songbirds, small animal wildlife, and of course, farm life too, also *NEW* this season we will be adding as the season progresses,  natural art displays, activity centres (games and books) and benches throughout the property so you can meander, then sit, relax and take in the natural world around you. We are also located on the edge of the Eastern Ontario "Dark Sky" Area, which means we have a very nice view from the edge of our pasture of the North Sky stars on a clear night, with very minimal light pollution. We are a small working "hobby farm", therefore we have a small, but varied collection of farm animals, and gardens. We have LOTS of chickens, (including roosters who crow in the early morning hours) 5 miniature goats, 2 horses, a couple of barn cats, and a dog. During your stay with us, if you so desire, you are welcome to come learn about and interact with our animals and daily farm life. (farm fresh eggs, maple syrup, pancake mixes and homemade bread are also available to purchase).  Campers should also be aware that we live in a rural area, and NOT a wilderness area. So it is NOT "wilderness quiet" here, but it IS countryside quiet. We are in close proximity (hearing distance) to a local 2 lane highway that does produce minimal background traffic noise during the day, and morning hours, but is almost non-existent of noise at night (after 7pm).   We continue to strive to create a "unique" camping/glamping experience on our farm. We construct natural privacy "screens" throughout the property to create a more "private/secluded feeling while on your site. PLEASE REMEMBER, we have FARM ANIMALS that make noise (roosters crowing anytime day OR night, goats bleeting) Farm "smells", (manure). BUT.... that IS the "Charm of the Farm" :-) There are also SO many local options available for recreational activities and visiting historic sites off the property.  We have 2 local lakes, with swimming and boating options, (7 min drive).   Biking and hiking areas, including the Cataraqui Trail, the K and P Trail, and the Rideau Trail, Gould Lake Conservation Area. All of which are within a 10- 15 minute drive of our home. Frontenac Provincial Park is a 25-minute drive away, with more rugged interior day hiking trails.  Local Canoe & kayak rentals are  25 mins away. Local restaurants, unique local shops, a brewery, Wilton Cheese Factory, gas, grocery and drug stores are all a  5 minute drive away. A little farther away is:  ~The Nationally Historic City of Kingston, aka "The Limestone City" which located at the head of the St Lawrence River & Seaway on the east end of Lake Ontario, is home to many historic sites and museums such as; Fort Henry, RMC, Queen's University, CFB Kingston, Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, and the "INFAMOUS" Kingston Penitentiary and Kingston Haunted Walk,  is only a 20-minute drive away.  ~The FAMOUS Thousand Islands National Park - 51 mins away, and Gananoque, Ontario -Gateway to the 1000 Islands- is 35 minutes away. ~ Sandbanks Provincial Park with its famous fresh water beaches and sand dunes is 75mins away, and is located within Prince Edward County, which is also famously home to MANY unique & local wineries, breweries, orchards and artisan shops and boutiques.- 54 mins away. You certainly will not be bored or lacking things to do and see both on and off the property.

This site is situated in the heart of our Maple Sugar Bush, and nestled amongst the 200+ year old maple trees. It is fairly flat and spacious with lots of room to set up a large camping tent. This is the second of 3 Hipcamp sites available on our property and is a TRADITIONAL WALK-IN ONLY CAMPSITE. (ie: Bring your own tent and camping supplies).   Unfortunately we WILL NOT accommodate Rooftop Tent Vehicles OR Tents attached to Vehicles, nor trailers for sleeping purposes to be parked on the campsite . You must park your vehicle at the parking areas ONLY and WALK-IN to this TENTS ONLY campsite. It is an easy 1 minute walk from parking area to this site and small wagons are provided to help haul your gear. There is a picnic table and a campfire pit on site, that also has a metal cooking grate over an open fire, for those so inclined to cook this way. First night stay comes with 1 complimentary bag of firewood. More firewood can be purchased for a nominal fee, we do not allow outside firewood to be brought onto property to protect our forest trees from potential insect infestation. We provide a large 5 gallon jug of drinking water, which is easily refillable by us, free of charge. The site is nicely shaded and moderately secluded from farm life and our neighbors.  There is a compostable dry toilet outhouse, with a handwashing station that is shared by other campers staying on property. And a hot water on demand outdoor shower house that is also shared by other campers on site. This is a Pet Friendly site, BUT WE ARE A WORKING FARM WITH LOTS OF LIVESTOCK, THEREFORE WE HAVE A STRICT ON LEASH ALWAYS, PET POLICY, THAT IS STRICTLY ENFORCED, NO EXCEPTIONS. This is both for your pets protection and our farm animals protection. *NEW* THIS SPRING!!! THE GRAND OPENING OF OUR NEWEST GLAMPSITE, JUST IN TIME FOR THE 2024 SPRING AND SUMMER CAMPING SEASON. This tiny rustic OFF GRID cabin also known as a "Bunkie", is the PERFECT spot for a leisurely "Couples Get Away to The Farm" or to experience a "hobby farm/small homestead" life. This glampsite sits on the edge of our horse pasture next to our small Maple Sugarbush which is part of our 6-acre family hobby farm. The site is nicely secluded from farm life and our neighbors.  This is the most secluded of our "glamp" sites on the property, and is located overlooking our horse pasture with a perfect view of the North Sky on the southern edge of the Eastern Ontario Dark Skies area. It's a perfect place for star gazing, thus the name "Stargazer Bunkie". Please note, we are NOT wilderness secluded, we are a RURAL/COUNTRYSIDE property with rural neighbors, whose homes are located in the distance, along the edge of our property. We are also within hearing distance of a local highway, which is normally not too noisy, but it is busiest with traffic noise in the morning and evening rush hour times.  This is a "WALK-IN only site, but it is an easy, less than a 2 minute walk from the parking area to the Bunkie, and we provide small wagons so that guests can easily move their gear to their site. This tiny cabin bunkie sleeps 2 people in a comfy DOUBLE bed, and comes with all the amenities to have a great "glamping" experience. We provide all the bed linens, cooking and eating utensils (pots, pans, dishes, cutlery), drinking water, plus a propane BBQ and campstove, and a camp food cooler. All you need to bring is food and ice, and your all set, OR if you prefer you can dine out/takeout from one of our many great local restaurants that are all located within a 20 min drive or less. This Glampsite also has its own private deck area, and firepit, and its own private dry compost toilet outhouse. The Bunkie has solar lighting, and battery powered lights/lanterns and a small portable power pack so that guests can recharge their cell phones. During the cooler seasons we provide a small propane heater to take "the chill" of the Bunkie for your comfort. Due to the tiny nature of this bunkie, and the very close proximity to our horse pasture, unfortunately NO PETS are allowed when you stay on this site. There is also an outdoor shower house (with a hot water on demand propane hot water tank) located on property and is shared by all campers on property. Maple Grove Campsite
This is the second time we stayed at Black Maple Farm, and it was just as wonderful as the first. The site is clean, well-organized, and very pleasant, and our toddler absolutely loved helping feed and care for the animals. The hosts are warm, helpful, and lovely to chat with. I highly recommend this campsite- we will certainly be back next summer!

The Stargazer Bunkie
We stayed at Lisa and family’s stargazer bunkie for two nights in early September and it was a wonderful experience. We arrived after dark and Lisa was so helpful in making sure we found the bunkie, and always replied to messages promptly. The bunkie was well stocked, cleaned, and decorated, and we had no trouble making all the meals we had planned. It really felt like glamping, and having some time alone with Tango the horse in the night and morning felt super special. All the animals looked happy and well taken care of, were friendly and a pleasure to interact with :) Location is also great if you are planning of taking advantage of the wonderful trails at Frontenac Provincial Park.

Great location close to Kingston. We had our camping gear but having the bed was a step up from the tent! Lovely conversation with Lisa’s Mom as she fed the horse by our bunkie.

The stargazer site was lovely. Everything you could need was provided at the site including cookware, personal outhouse, etc. Seeing the horse run around the pasture while stargazing really elevated the experience as well!

The Stargazer Bunkie
The Stargazer Bunkie is great! It is very rustic but with a very comfortable bed. Lisa has made sure that there are basic camping amenities like drinking water, BBQs and basic cookware available. It has its own outhouse and overlooks the horse pasture. I got there after dark and Lisa kindly directed me to the bunkie. Great hosts, wonderful spot. Would absolutely recommend and visit again!

Nicely designed camping spot. Washroom & shower were very clean. We did clean up some small garbage bits from our campsite. Also, there were cigarette butts in the fire pit & under the picnic table, I felt uncomfortable with that as I'm a non-smoker. Lisa made us feel welcome & we were provided with drinking water & a camp stove. Overall we had a positive experience.

The Stargazer Bunkie
My friend Megan and I loved our night away in the Stargazer bunkie! The location was very easy to find and get to, the whole site is so interesting and fun and well managed and put together! Lisa was so welcoming, flexible and communicative, answered all our questions promptly and kindly! The animals are so darling and fun to get to know and observe, the horse Tango ran right by our site in the evening, it was lovely and peaceful. The bunkie is so sweet and comfy, a perfect alternative to actual tent camping for someone like me who isn’t a fan! It was clean and organized and the bed was so comfortable. So many handy amenities too, a little power station to charge your phone, solar powered lights, bbq, fresh drinking water, fire pit, personal outhouse with a great sink set up! And more in the site by your neighbours there’s an awesome private shower set up and some safe axe throwing which was so fun! And of course your get to go chat with the precious goats as well. All to say, I really truly do recommend staying here! It’s a really special place and makes for such a nice and comfortable getaway. Thank you so much Lisa and family! I’ll be back

Black Maple Farm: Pine Grove Site
I recently solo camped at The Pine Grove at Black Maple Farm and it was everything I hoped for peaceful, safe, and beautifully connected to nature. Nestled under tall pines, the site offers just the right amount of seclusion while still being easy to access. The outdoor shower was a highlight: warm, open-air, and surrounded by forest. It felt like a luxury spa in the woods! The outhouse was also super clean and well-lit, with a charming rustic vibe. One unforgettable moment happened while I was relaxing by the campfire out of the quiet came a young deer that wandered right up near the edge of the site. It stood just a few feet away before slowly disappearing back into the trees. It was surreal and calming, a reminder of how close you are to nature here. As the sky darkened, fireflies began to sparkle all around the site. Watching them dance among the trees while the stars peeked through the branches was truly magical. The soft pine-needle-covered ground made for a comfy tent setup, and I fell asleep to the sounds of the forest. I couldn’t leave without grabbing a bottle of their delicious, farm-made maple syrup. sweet, rich, and the perfect taste of the trip to bring home. The Pine Grove was the perfect solo getaway safe, serene, and soul-soothing. I’ll definitely return.

Black Maple Farm: Pine Grove Site
This is the second visit and it was fun as usual. The campground was nice, especially with the campfire and the bathroom and care station is extremely clean. We were grateful for the mosquito spray and mosquito net that we used as a kitchen tent. We really loved seeing the animals and enjoyed going to the neighboring towns to explore.

The Stargazer Bunkie
We loved our stay at the Stargazer Bunkie. It was well equipped and situated on the edge of a forested farm and a verdant pasture, frequented by Tango, their horse. We were blessed with good weather and enjoyed our coffee on the deck each morning. Arriving back late from the music festival we soaked up the beauty of the dark sky star show. Lisa was great to communicate with and Marg and Frank were wonderful helpers when we arrived. We highly recommend this glamping adventure!

The Stargazer Bunkie
I loved staying in the Bunkie! It was very cold (-1 overnight) and I was provided with lots of blankets that kept me warm throughout the night, and a small propane heater. There were lots of thoughtful items (books, playing cards, lots of lighting options, cookware and more). She met me when I arrived and she made sure I knew the ins and outs of staying there. I enjoyed meeting all the animals in the morning.

We loved our stay at the stargazer bunkie! It was so peaceful and the kitchen utenstils, kettle, pan, propane tanks and heater was all super helpful. The stars were really beautiful and the star finder tool was so cool, I could actually find constellations. Thanks again for letting us pet the goats they were so cute! Margret and Lisa are wonderful hosts definitely recommend

Had a magical stay at Lisa's bunkie. The stars were amazing and the little cabin was fully equipped. Really comfy bed! The property was fun to roam and we loved hanging out with Tango the horse and petting the goats. Great experience! Thank you, Lisa :)

I loved our stay at Lisa’s. The site was private and the amenities were unbelievably clean, and convenient. We loved the farm animals! They were super fun. We purchased extra firewood along with their bread and eggs and they were farm fresh and delicious. She made the stay memorable. We will definitely return.

Black Maple Farm: Pine Grove Site
I recently had the most incredible camping experience at this site! The location was perfect, with super clean bathrooms and a heated shower that made our stay so comfortable. We were surrounded by the cutest goats, a beautiful horse, and plenty of chickens, including a rooster that gave us a charming early morning wake-up call. It added to the whole rustic, farm-life atmosphere, and honestly, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. The star gazing at night was absolutely breathtaking — you can see the sky like never before! To top it all off, the hosts were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway in nature with great amenities and adorable animals, this is the place to go!

We were very happy with our little cabin. Lisa was great. We had eggs and fresh bread that was delicious. We were alone with the big north sky and it was stunning . We will go back again.

Maple Grove Campsite
We stayed at the Maple Grove site for three nights, and loved it! The hosts are incredibly kind and helpful, the goats, chickens and horse are lovely, and the location is perfect. The space is really well maintained and clean, and it's obvious that Lisa and her family put a lot of effort into it. I highly recommend this campsite!

The Goats were fun to wake up to. Loved the visit As a therapist doing private sessions at www.mentalhealthsupport.ca I would recommend the peace that was there!

Lisa was very quick to respond to my enquiries. the maple butter and home made bread are delicious! recommend the farm fresh eggs, too.

UT was our 3rd year staying at black maple farm. We stayed in the bunkie this year and it was great! It had everything we could have needed! It's always a pleasure!
