Bob and Charlene really made us feel welcome — escorting us to the remote camping from the main road (past an impressive array of old boats and vehicles, providing cooked dinners, loads of water (it was hot!), selling us fresh eggs, and sharing history of the area. The camping area is on a tree-covered knoll with a cleared view looking into the Missouri River Valley, and features an eclectic mix of lawn furniture, several large picnic tables, and a stage. The marine toilet, set up in the middle of an old trailer, is unconventional, but so is everything about this place, including Bob and Charlene, which is a big part of Happy Hollow’s funky charm.
