    Hello, and welcome to Superior Times Resort and Campground! We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.” In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history. Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work! Thank you for choosing us and allowing us to be part of the memories that you create here. We know that you work hard for your own money, as we do. Knowing that you chose our resort to support, means a lot to our Superior Times and Resort family team. We truly appreciate your loyalty and give special thanks to our returning customers. Please note, store is not open in the winter. Bring your own pillows, blankets, linens and towels. There is also no kitchen, so you would need to bring all your own food preparation needs. There is a charcoal grill. On site is great fishing with pontoon boat rentals available. Kayak, canoe and stand up paddle boards also available for rent. 1/4 mile to snowmobile and ORV trails. Great lake for ice fishing.

    My wife and I stayed here in a tent for almost a whole week. We loved the area, the hosts were very nice, and the amenities made it very comfortable to stay there for a week. We highly recommend it! Also, their pizza is incredibly good and worth getting!

    Cool spot for kids, but showers barely work…they trickle and there are only 2 of them so there is always a line. Only 2 bathrooms, but the individual showers have a bathroom in them so that helps. The map on here is WAY off and there’s like twice the amount of spots so this place is jam packed. They don’t enforce the noise rule and I stayed there twice in the past month and each time I had people partying next to me at 2am and later in one case. Having the store there was convenient and done nicely, kids had things to do so that was helpful..they have a bar? A full patio bar on the grounds. Kayak and golf cart rentals…good location in between some great UP hot spots. Felt more like a state park or busy marina than a private campsite.

    I absolutely loved our tent site, it was around other campers but we didn’t mind that at all. We were able to make good friends with a few of the sites by us. The camp store was also super convenient and they had everything there you could need for camping and you can also order food from there which helped out on us not having to buy too many groceries! I definitely recommend Heathers camping sites

    We only ended up staying 2 of our 8 nights that we booked. We needed to find a safer campsite with more privacy. The tent sites were literally right on top of each other and site 39 is right next (no joke right next to-we were afraid of a car crash right into our site) to Au Train Forest Road which is pretty busy. We had other camping children from the resort enter our site twice without any adults with them. I understand that they were kids but we have a German shepherd mix and Rottweiler and the children were lucky I was aware of their presence and able to address my pups so they didn’t over react. I do see the benefits of this facility for family reunions or just families in general. It’s in an awesome location and there’s so much to do in the area.

    Wasn’t real thrilled about the very loud concert on Friday night that was in no way mentioned prior to arrival. I completely understand many want to party, and live music until 11 is a plus, but those of that don’t should be forewarned so we can stay elsewhere.

    It was right along a beautiful lake. It was super clean! They had everything you needed at the general store in case you forgot to pack anything plus some camp necessities which was really nice. The park was cool for my son and they had a bunch of stuff like a basketball hoop, bags and a giant chessboard. I would definitely go again! I do agree with another review that the campsites are pretty close together. There are a few trees in between but very little privacy which is okay since you’re pretty much spending majority of your time outdoors anyways. Some might not like it but it didn’t bother us much. Like I said, I would love to look into visiting again if I ever go back to that area!

    I loved camping here, there were mosquitoes but that’s to be expected in a wooded area. We were the only people camping in tents so we had the whole road to ourselves! Only con was the bulldozers and/or heavy machinery coming through early in the morning. Very family friendly location :)

    This is a beautiful spot with lots of amenities! Superior times makes a great home base to explore the Pictured Rocks area. We enjoyed the breakfast sandwiches from the camp store in the AM.

    We had so much fun in th UP and found Superior Times to be the perfect spot to camp. There's a store with all the amenities, hot showers, modern bathrooms, and even rental kayaks. Beautiful patio overlooking the lake. I will return.

    Overall this was a decent campsite and served our needs for our visit to the area. However, Hipcamp asked whether we'd stay here again, and we wouldn't. In a nutshell, the campground just looks messy. There is little to no gravel at any of the sites. The campground seems to be in transition, as it appeared many campsites are fairly new, with new scraped earth and piles of branches pushed into piles. The campground seems to be built around a family property, as the main house is right in the middle, with various outbuildings and equipment scattered about. Our site was up an incline, and without 4WD, I would not have been able to get my camper in place. The listing advertises WiFi, but at our campsite, there was not any. About 2 campsites closer to the campstore and we picked up a bar of connectivity. When I enquired at the office, I was told they had switched to a service who promised total campground coverage, but it didn't. If your service doesn't cover the campground, you shouldn't advertise it. At check-in, there was a teenager behind the desk. He basically took our name and said we were good to go. I had to pull information from him. (Where is my campsite? Where is the water? Where is the dump station?) Finally, I don't think the staff checks the campsites between campers. My neighbor left a camp-stove in their site. I notified the office, but no-one ever came get it. The next campers came and just left it there on the table.
