Paint River Hills Campground is a unique destination nestled on 24 acres of picturesque bluffs along the Paint River in downtown Crystal Falls. This serene location offers guests unparalleled access to both State and County ATV trail systems, making it an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts. The campground boasts a range of modern amenities, including a clean and contemporary shower building, five fully insulated sleeping cabins, and ten pull-through sites, four of which offer full hookups. Additionally, there are 18 RV and tent sites equipped with Wi-Fi access, ensuring a comfortable stay for all visitors. Nature lovers will appreciate the half-mile scenic hiking trail that meanders along the river, showcasing stunning bluffs, calcite outcroppings, and majestic 140-year-old cedar trees. Throughout the campground and along the trail, multilingual tree identification markers featuring the native Ojibwa language enhance the experience, providing an educational aspect to your visit. In 2003, the campground was enriched by the construction of an Ojibwa wigwam under a grand white pine, built by a local Ojibwa artist. Although the wigwam has since been removed, it remains the subject of a documentary available from the Hannahville Indian School in Wilson, Michigan, preserving its cultural significance.
