Welcome travelers! We are inviting you to join us this summer for a stay like no other, right outside downtown South Haven. We are expecting our official season with events and all sorts of fun to kick off around Memorial Day but you are still welcome to camp out for a quieter stay in the meantime. Hostel SoHa is two 5,000 square foot buildings on 7 acres of private land in the process of being renovated into the first traveler's hostel in West Michigan. This summer, we are proud to announce we will be opening our first building with indoor pod-bed accommodations on May 15th. Not to worry, campers. There is still plenty of space for pitching tents, car camping, and even more amenities included with your stay. [Apirl 18th Update] Because we are still in the process of opening up a communal kitchen, a larger common area, an improved outdoor fire pit area, showers, and more there may be construction going on during your stay. This likely won’t be a disruption to your stay but we thought we’d give you the heads up. Also note, pictures on Hipcamp may not accurately reflect the space as we make these changes. We are located directly off M-43 and only a 5 minute drive to the beach; downtown South Haven; and Walmart, Aldi, and Meijer. We are also a 5 minute drive from the Kal-Haven trailhead and can help hikers and bike-packers arrange a pick up or drop off from there. The Bangor Train Station is a 12 minute drive and we can also help arrange pick up and drop off from there. This fun and central location is best suited for adults ages 18-35, but we welcome any adult looking for a more social and unique experience. This is a adult/traveler friendly environment and is not recommended for families or individuals looking for a private getaway. Unfortunately, we do not allow anyone under 18 to stay even when accompanied by an adult. Our Mini Safari Tents for Two are located behind our camper's commons building. If you're reading this we only have one tent currently available but here shortly we will have up to 6, each with approximately 20 feet to the next tent. Rest assured, your tent is still private, with one side facing the woods and both sides with privacy shades. Due to our close proximity to the highway we have a constant "white noise" throughout night which all but completely blocks out sound from nearby campers. Starting Memorial Day Weekend, all guests will have key card access to bathrooms, a shared kitchen, common areas, pantry storage, and paid showers in addition to business fiber-optic Wi-Fi, activities, communal firepit, and more.

If you have an oversized rig that does not fit in a standard parking space (18ft) then this is the site for you. Skoolies, campers, RVs, and rigs of all shapes and sizes are welcome. We will not have numbered sites until summer begins; this is a casual parking lot space. There are no electric or water hookups and this stay is recommended for those rustic camping or those with self-sustaining units or generators. You'll have access to indoor bathrooms (no showers yet), a common area, a hose, and a communal fire pit. We are in the process of adding larger common spaces, a full kitchen, laundry facilities, and more with an expected completion date on May 15th.

Pitch your tent where you want in our grass or straw/dirt camp area! You will have full access to indoor bathrooms, a spacious yard and wooded space, bonfire pit, picnic tables, yard games, kitchenette, a pool table, an indoor common space, and more. You cannot pull your car to your camp site but parking is a very short walk away (0-2 minutes). The ground could be muddy if raining. If bad weather is expected, we recommend setting up your tent in a high spot or in the grass area. We are in the process of growing grass and until it is established there will be mud spots when its raining.

If you've got a car-camper or van set up, are not pitching a tent, and your vehicle fits in a regular parking space, this is the site option for you. As summer approaches, we will be working on a system for guests to get a designated, numbered space but, until then, park wherever you'd like. You'll have access to indoor bathrooms (no showers yet), a common area, a hose, and a communal fire pit. We are in the process of adding larger common spaces, a full kitchen, laundry facilities, and more with an expected completion date on May 15th.

The good: super nice people. Nice fire pit and I am sure the hostel will be amazing when it’s finished. The bad: the property is more or less nestled in between two heavily trafficked roads (even if you just see one of them). It was extremely loud and did not get better at night. Even with earplugs inside our RV I didn’t sleep well. For that reason I wouldn’t stay again.

An unexpected decision led to the best decision I could've made. This place shows the heart and soul of an incredible person and their passion of hospitality. The host is very accommodating. They made sure everyone needs are met and goes above and beyond for their guests. The place has a vision one that is beautiful and an honor to stay at. If you're crossing through South Haven this is the place to go. A place where travelers meet others, share their journey and dreams that leave an imprint for a lifetime.

Pros: the hosts and other guests were really cool and the firepit and benches and indoor bathroom were nice Cons: you cant tell from the pictures but its right next to a pretty busy road so didn’t feel as naturey as what we were looking for But if youre looking for a cheap place to stay in south haven & meet some cool people this is a great option!

Site was great for car camping - just parked in the lot and slept in my car. It was great to have a nice bathroom available whenever I needed it! And the location is great, under 10min from South Haven and the beach. The host and other visitors were very kind, and there were multiple opportunities for social events - unfortunately I couldn't participate much this time because I was busy with other plans. Overall, a lot of value for such a small price!

We had an amazing experience tent camping at the SoHa Hostel! Nadia and the SoHa crew were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. The grounds were peaceful and well-maintained, perfect for a relaxing night under the stars. The hostel's location is ideal—close to downtown South Haven and the beach, which made our stay even better. We loved the sense of community at SoHa and appreciated the cozy, laid-back atmosphere. Everything couldn't have been more perfect! We are "alone" campers, older, and set in our ways. Since we decided at the last minute to camp Labor Day Weekend, the State & National Parks were full up. That's how I discovered HipCamp. Nadia's "ad" came up first and we decided to step out of our comfort zone and check it out - actually interact with other campers! It was MARVELOUS! Fun dinners & campfires, good music, good talks. People from all over the country, and world, sitting together, drinking, laughing, everybody feeling good and no arguments of any kind! Nadia could NOT have been kinder or more welcoming. The indoor plumbing was a BIG PLUS! Also the coffee maker, microwave, fridge, and pool & ping pong tables. And if you're still a "lone" camper, the tents were far enough from each other so if you wanted solitude, you could have that too. The best of both worlds!

I love this place and the vibes here! I was definitely skeptical as most probably are if you’re reading this, but for $15 you can’t beat it! The saying it’s too good to be true doesn’t apply with this deal. 10/10 would recommend and stay here again.

Just needed a place to crash, this was an easy transaction and it was so nice to have running water & facilities to wake up to. The camp fire area is set up cute & relaxing. If you stay here, please be mindful of others sleeping here. The guy I parked beside was in & out of his van, slamming doors, singing & talking to himself past midnight. It’s close quarters, be respectful.

We had such an amazing time. Nadia has created a super welcoming atmosphere. There's plenty of space to set up camp, the location is in easy biking distance of downtown south haven and the beach, and we ended the evening with a community meal around the fire. This is a really special spot and we will definitely be back!

I camped for a week and loved it. It's a beautiful place, they let me set my tent wherever I wanted and everyone was very nice. Very nice clean bathroom and a refrigerator and freezer for camper use. I look forward to seeing how it develops in the future. An incredible beach was nearby as well.

Nadia is a stellar host. The hostel sits on a great plot of land just over the bridge from the all the amenities of town. The communal fire space was our favorite spot to gather at night for story telling and getting to know fellow travelers. We’ll be coming back to Hostel SoHa soon!

We had a great time camping out at Hostel Soha. Such a convenient location close to town, the beach and restaurants, conveniences and a great spot to pitch a tent. A great idea to bring hostels to SW Michigan and can't wait to see where this idea goes. Nadia was super welcoming and helpful. 100 percent recommend.

Overall, a really nice experience. The RV/campervan sites are 5 parking spaces right next to each other. There's no privacy. If you can accept that, you'll love the vibe of the place. Easily accessible bathrooms, firepit/community area, and a super kind host. There are people of all ages.

Nadia was such a chill host, and she has a real passion for hospitality. She's turning the property into a hostel, complete with camping and rooms, and it's so neat to see her progress! The camping is still basic, and there are roads nearby, BUT her price is right, the lake is SO close, and South Haven was a fun town to explore. Great place for an overnight.
