Sunset Pointe is situated on Fishing Creek (Hoopers Island), a connection between The Honga River and The Chesapeake Bay. Tyler Cove public boat ramp is less than 1 mile away for convenient watercraft launching, plenty of parking for vehicles and trailers. The Hoopers Island General Store is next door with dine-in or carry out food, groceries, deli, hardware & tools, fishing tackle, bait and boating needs, apparel and full variety of beer, wine and liquor. Old Saltys Restaurant is 1.5 miles away and are currently open Wednesday through Sunday serving local seafood dinners and have an outside seasonal Tiki Bar open on the weekends with live music most Saturdays. Gootee's Marine & Fishing Charters is 6.8 miles away with a full marine mechanic staff and several charter boats for local fishing trips and Light House Tour charters. There is another public boat ramp behind Gootee's Marina with a large parking area.

Highly recommend staying here on your next visit. Super peaceful, safe, and beautiful. You really felt part of the island at this local spot. Katie was very nice. Views were great. We loved camping right next to the water.

It was a lovely site right on the marina. It was fun to watch boats come and go. The only negative thing about the site is that there’s a marina light that stays on all night — spot 3 is right in the path.

It’s a well groomed site with a tent pad, parking, table and fire pit. The water is right there. Gorgeous views. A camp store is near for wood and supplies. There is no grill on the fire pit, so you can’t cook on the fire unless you bring the right equipment.

This was one of the most beautiful areas I’ve been to in a long time in Maryland very peaceful and the host is amazing very responsive and provides a lot of great information about the area with definitely 100% recommend

This site is a very special place. Cool bay breezes, awesome sunsets, friendly people and well off the beaten path. We enjoyed our week stay on marina site 2 in a 25ft RV. Site was level and comes with electric water and sewer, which is a huge plus when staying for an extended period. Walking access to Hooper's Island General store is very handy indeed. A small rural general store with practically any basics you would need. Leon and Katie were very responsive to our inquiries and quick to address any issue if needed. We will to return to this site in the future. Some things to know before you book: 1. This site is a small peninsula with water on 3 sides. If you have small children or cannot swim, this site may not be for you! 2. The area is very rural. If you are looking for daily activities outside of the site, you are are going to be driving at least 45 mins. NOTE: Assateague Island National Seashore is a good day trip! Blackwater Refuge is beautiful (and close too!) 3. If you have water toys (e.g. Kayak, Paddle board, Even small boat) this place is for you. Lots of opportunities to safely float & fish all around. 4. Bring Bug Spray! Katie and Leon fogged the site ahead of time for us and it was wonderful and the breeze keeps the skeeters at bay. However if no breeze and you are offsite, be prepared! 5. Enjoy the Music, Food and Tiki bar at Old Salty's! If you are looking for a quiet, rural & scenic location for your next HipCamp , then this camp is for you.

The site lived up to it's sunset name and the camper on site #1 worked well for us during our stay. Everything in the RV worked, but we were told that the outdoor kitchen didn't work when we arrived. The AC, fridge and freezer and bathroom worked as expected. We brought bikes, a kayak and paddleboard and were out on them almost every day. The general store on site was also very useful and has very good coffee. We made good use of it and the staff there were very friendly.

We had a blast at Leon & Katie's campsite! Nature has made this the perfect piece of land to camp, but they have obviously spent a great deal of time and expended a great deal of effort to make it extra special! First of all, what a view! Water on 3 sides and an incredible sunset! The site was a bit off our path, but we decided to give it a go, especially since it is near the water. What a great decision that turned out to be! We didn't want to leave! The hosts recommended that, if we had time, we explore further onto the island. We decided to take the extra time. What an enjoyable drive! Just a beautiful area! We very highly recommend camping here. To add to the awesomeness of this site, the general store which is located at the entrance from the road has everything you could ever need, including a good meal. They had some crabby boiled eggs that were a delicious snack on the road! I promise you, this is the place you want to choose. I think it is our new favorite HipCamp. You'll be glad you chose to set up here!

The site is super close to the water — perfect for a peaceful getaway and easy access to kayaking or just relaxing by the shore. Blackwater Refuge is right nearby, which made for some amazing bird watching and paddling adventures. One of the unexpected perks was how close it was to a small country store — just a short walk and fully stocked with anything we needed during our stay. And if you need anything bigger, Cambridge is a quick drive and has everything from restaurants to grocery stores. This spot offers a great mix of quiet nature with the convenience of nearby essentials. Our hosts we friendly and accommodating.

Really appreciate the hospitality of Leon and fam on Hoopers Island. We forgot an important item for our camper and the hosts were incredibly helpful. Very close the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge and the magic of the Chesapeake.

Nice Hipcamp that is convenient to the Blackwater Refuge and Harriett Tubman museum and other attractions. Great little general store at the front with everything you need and a cute little cafe’. This Hipcamp has multiple camp spots that are tight against each other so if you’re looking for something with more privacy this isn’t it. Overall, great Hipcamp!!

Wow ! This place is a hidden gem on the Eastern shore of Maryland. The sunsets are to die for ! There was a single tree in the exact spot the sun sets ! The sun goes down right in the center of the tree giving off the impression that it is on fire ! Stunning ! Our hosts Leon & Katie helped us with backing our 26' trailer into our spot ! After that it was five days of R&R while visiting Old Salty's during a bluegrass festival ! We plan on returning sometime later this year ! This is a top notch hip camp ! If you are searching for peace and quiet, boating or fishing and crabbing this is the place. Thank you Leon & Katie for your hospitality and allowing us to see those gorgeous sunsets ! Hope there is a place to upload a pic of those sunsets ! Rob & Holley

This is a lovely location, good sunset views, and the hosts were great communicators, and the general store makes a mean crab cake sandwich! There's really good biking (every single car and truck who passed us on the road gave us PLENTY of room, very safe biking!), paddling, and the Blackwater National Wildlife refuge. It's all close to the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Museum, which is amazing. So all in all, a great place.
