Site 7 - Mulehalla on the Potomac River

Our stay at Mulehalla was great! Site 10 is even bigger than we expected. It's tucked back away from the other sites so has some privacy. The host was very responsive when we had a couple questions, even though we arrived late. Our dog loved exploring the campground and walking by the C&O.

Great site run by good people

Kevin is an awesome dude to talk to, and a highly flexible host. He took an extra careful look at the details of our reservation and suggested a change of campsite based on our proximity to other guests. Then, when things on site were different than what he had proposed and we set up camp in a different third spot, he showed up the next day and said "that's exactly what I would have suggested, so I'm glad you did it." The site itself is beautiful, and the location is both out of the way and convenient to nearby amenities. We had a great stay. Thanks Kevin!

Mulehalla Site #6

Mulehalla was a really nice campground. The hosts welcomed me upon arrival and gave me the orientation. We camped at site #6 which had a tent pad, stone fire ring and additional space for another tent. It was a little difficult finding the site since there isn't a clear drive lane, but I liked that. Some of the sites are really close to each other and we had another group across from our site. But we had the entire camp ground to ourselves the second night. Port-a-john was really clean. Bring your own potable water.

This campsite was perfect for us! Tucked away behind a quiet neighborhood, the campground was easy to find, spacious and beautiful and we found the host to be very responsive. Our site (#11) was tucked away in a lane of grass between two tree lines in a space that looks to be used or have been used for disc golf. This late in the season we only had one group somewhat near us and we didn’t hear them despite the relative proximity. We were a quick walk away from the restroom which was very convenient and woke to the pleasant sounds of birds rustling and calling in the trees above us. We were able to locate and purchase wood for a campfire with ease and enjoyed a nice fire on our second evening. The campground is located near an excellent coffee shop (River Bottom Roasters) and there are many great hikes, shops and restaurants within driving distance.

Not what I was expecting..

The campsite was fine, but very disappointing to find out there were only cold showers. When it's in the 40's outside the last thing you want to do is get a cold shower. Site is near a neighborhood where the neighbors let their dogs bark excessively starting early in the morning for hours on end, so don't plan on sleeping past 7 ish.

This is my second year celebrating my birthday with camping at Mulehalla. The grounds are perfectly maintained and the owners are incredibly nice people. I will be back…again and again!

It was getting dark and we were desperate for a place to camp. When we arrived I procured a site on the app Set up the tent and went to sleep. It wasn't until the next morning we discovered what an epic gem this place actually is. There is more than adequate space between HUGE camping sites. There is disc golf, outdoor volleyball, a large lodge (not accessible at the time, nice restrooms with showers. Would be a perfect spot for a family reunion or holiday party. This place is beautiful!

Host was amazing, checked up and made sure we had everything. He also told us about nice spots to hang and fish at overall the place is amazing. We also heard a pack of coyotes roaming around making noises at night.

We will be coming back

Nice place with clean facilities. Decent amount of trees and such for some privacy. Only problem we had was the employee, who came to make sure we found everything okay, came around after dark and startled us and our dogs pretty bad but he was nice.

Nice place

It was nice not having to put up a tent. It was roomie, but I think in the long run I would have rather used my own tent. Owners came by to say hi. They were very nice. We basically had the whole place to ourselves. The bathroom was adequate. I do wish the shower was more inviting. We didn’t use it.

We loved our one night camping at Mulehalla. It has everything we needed, bathrooms, showers, disc golf. Beautiful spot and well maintained. And we loved the location right by an entrance for the C&O Canal Towpath. We went on a nice bike ride right from camp.

Our family had a great time! Kevin was a fantastic host. My boys enjoyed using the park provided sports and rec equipment. The site was fairly private and afforded us pretty much everything we look for in a tent camping trip. Having access to showers was a nice touch, albeit a little chilly which was still nice after a long warm day.

Loved Mulehalla!

I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend here. The yurt is by campsite 11- hard to find if you didn’t know that. The grounds were immaculate. Very quiet, very nice. Easy to get to c&o canal. Bathrooms clean. Very nice owner. I found the Hipcamp app frustrating though.

Nice campground in a spacious area. Some of the sites are very close together but #6 has a decent amount of space. The numbering of the sites was a little confusing, so some signage might help. Make sure that you go to the address listed and not the GPS coordinates. Great view of the night sky and was a good place to lay my head for a night.

This site is very quiet and tucked away in a safe area with everything needed for basic camping. (Firewood for sale on site of needed). Clean and very well maintained. Mulehalla has created an excellent space. A big downfall was 1 little above ground fire ring for 3 campsites. There are several in-ground but be prepared to share- which leads to limited privacy
