Disappointing and upsetting stay
We arrived in the evening to check in and found no staff anywhere. The store, where the sign said to register, was closed, and there was no clear way to contact anyone. The campground is under new management, but their Hipcamp listing hasn’t been updated, it still lists the previous owner’s number, and our messages went completely unanswered. If you’re not ready to manage bookings through Hipcamp, you shouldn’t be listed there.
When we finally reached the new owner (through the old one), we explained that we had a Jeep with a roof tent. Unfortunately, he misunderstood and assumed we had a ground tent, then directed us to the camping area. The map we were given was also inaccurate, so we parked where we thought we were meant to, next to other tents.
The next morning, a staff member aggressively confronted my girlfriend for parking on the grass. He was rude, dismissive, intimidating, and she was left in tears and very shaken up.
We reported the incident, and the owner was sympathetic and assured us that it would be dealt with. We were going to stay longer but we left early because we no longer felt safe or welcome. This campground urgently needs better communication, updated information, and staff who treat guests with respect.
