This was not a good experience. In fairness, due to travel delays we arrived after dark, and if we had arrived earlier, it might have been different. When we arrived, the host led us up a winding, muddy, treacherous mountain path before parting company with us and pointing us up a path where he assured us there would be campsites and places to turn our pickup truck around. There were neither. We had no option but to sleep on the path itself, in the rain, and wait for daybreak before we could attempt the dangerous backward drive back down the mountain. This has been our second experience with Kentucky camping and it seems to be the norm that Kentuckians have less of an issue with perilous mountain terrain than most, but for an out-of-stater like myself, this is not for me, and I would advise others against it. I seriously believed there was a substantial chance of getting stuck up there or going over the edge and dying.
