1 - Bicycle Camps, No Automobiles

Tent site · Sleeps 2
The Flint Hills Nature Trail runs right through our property, and we are here to serve everyone who travels that trail, including providing a nearly unlimited number of camp sites. The sites are separated off from the rest of the campground, into a section we call the Flint Hills Bike Village. These are beautiful lakeside campsites for tents that sit up on a small bluff overlooking the lake. Most bicyclists bring their own tents, but we have tents to rent as well. Soon we will be providing primitive shelters also. The Village sits on a small overlook of the lake. Soon to come will be a Village Store, charging stations, and many other amenities. There are unlimited sites available here for bicyclists, and they enjoy a special rate of $20 per two-person tent per night. There is a lot of room to spread out. There is a common bonfire pit for the site and a number of distributed fire pits as well. It is less than a one-minute walk to the clubhouse. Please note that the bicycle village is limited to people who are traveling the Flint Hills Nature trail by bicycle. While it does list below that there is room for one vehicle, actually there is not. There just wasn't any room in the description to put zero. If you have a vehicle and a standard tent or camper, kindly select one of our standard campsite reservations. Thank you.

Woods/Creek - Beavers and Otters

100%
(3)
Tent site · Sleeps 5
On the Eastern edge of Lake Georgia Sue lies an expanse of woods typical of eastern Kansas. Oaks and locust and hickory trees populate the forest and create a beautiful, cool, and peaceful environment. We have three campsites in the Black Forest. Camp Clear Sky, Camp Ojibwa, and Camp Leave it to Beaver. These are all tent sites and most times of the year they need to be accessed via kayak, ATV, or foot. You can bring your own, or we can transport you back. There's considerable history attached to this property. Most of it has to do with the Black River band of Chippewa Indians who lived here for half a century. This was their land. This is where they fished. And this is where they hunted. There's a book about to be published called the Chief and I. It is the story of Chief Eshtonoquot, known in English as Chief Clear Sky. His story of leadership and bravery is not as well told as those of Geronimo or Sitting Bull. But it is every bit as dramatic and inspiring. There is a legend, and we have experienced it, that Chief Clear Sky still visits the woods. He doesn't interact, but he makes sure you know he's there. If you're lucky, maybe you'll get to see him. He is not mischievous. Through the Black Forest runs a canal. The canal is home to ducks and beavers and thousands of turtles. One of the campsites sits along the canal, and it is called Leave it to Beaver. This a very peaceful place, with beavers, otters, and herons visiting almost daily. The canal and the woods along the canal are also by a pair of herons. They nest in the trees along the canal. The specific location of Camp Clear Sky is where the chief would sit and enjoy his view of the marshy lands that he owned. The Chief's soul animal was the heron. It was a heron that stopped him on a path through a marshy field when he was young, and it was heron's interaction with him that gave him the courage to propose to his first wife. You can see our two herons at that campsite nearly every day. If you are fixing to propose, maybe you should talk with the heron. So if you are on the spiritual side, and you are one of those people who are open to the things around you, the Black Forest is a special place, especially Camp Clear Sky. And you and I can spend hours, if you want, talking about the 19th Century Chippewa tribe and their leader. I have many stories. Camp Clear Sky is the most important spot on the 85 acres. It is thus the most expensive as well. But it's the best blood pressure medicine I have ever found. Though secluded within the woods, these three campsites are pretty close to the lake. Camp clear sky actually sits on the easternmost shore of the lake. It is a 10 minute walk to the clubhouse

Camp McStinky pants is a fun place. It sits right on the water and is a great place for kids. Whether they like to throw rocks in the water or play soccer or feed baby goats and donkeys and baby cows, this is a wonderful place. There are two campsites at the McStinky location. They both sit just a few feet from the water under a beautiful set of young sycamore trees. Behind the camp and looking towards the clubhouse, is a soccer field and surrounding that soccer field is a pastor full of little animals. The site is only a 2-minute walk to the clubhouse and the playground. This campsite is named after our grandson. His nickname is McStinky Pants, because when he was young, sometimes he haf stinky pants. He's older now but still very proud of his nickname. Kids have a lot of fun at Lake Georgia Sue. Whether it is engaging with the animals or playing on the playground or writing their bicycle on the trail or just around our property, or whether it's jumping on the big round bales and making a game of it. Horse - Cowboy Heaven

Booked 1 time
RV/tent site · Sleeps 5 · Vehicles under 45 ft
For you AND your horses. Not too long ago Kansas “Was” the West. Lawrence, Leavenworth, and Dodge City were considered the wild frontier. For those of you with just a little bit of that in your blood, and for others of you with a whole bunch of that in your blood, we have a real nice set of campsites devoted to a great stay for you and your horses. And it's very close to the water. Cowboy Heaven is a 3-acre pasture boasting a tree line between two Meadows. Inside that pasture are four designated areas where you can camp and where you can let your horses run in the pasture. You are camping in their pasture. The horses have the pasture grass, as well as access 24/7 to a round brome bale and fresh water. And you have a round pen to get a little extra time in with your horses. Cowboy Heaven is a great place to bring your group of campers and horses and use Lake Georgia Sue as a trailhead to the Flint Hills Nature Trail. We also have many, many trails around the lake and through our woods. We have round pens, training trails, and a lot of good horse people around. For parties with two RVs or more, the package includes a cowboy breakfast made right there around the fire. If you would like to bring large groups in, we will provide cowboy Church, and you have never gone to church in a more beautiful place than the outdoor chapel at Lake Georgia Sue. The price is $75 per night, and that includes space for your tent or RV, five guests, two horses, and of course the beautiful view. An abundance of firewood is provided for an extra charge. Ten minute walk to the clubhouse. Electric is available via generator. Lake Georgia-Sue is an 85 acre oasis of relaxation and fun. Great for weddings, birthdays, etc. We are just a short drive from four larger state lakes. An abundance of good restaurants are just ten minutes away, and sometimes we take a trail ride to eat Mexican or BBQ in the village close by.
