Learn more about this land: Aloha,I built the treehouse to be a very romantic hideaway for myself and my honey, and now that I'm renting it out, the couples and families who have stayed here, including many honeymooners have appreciated the romance of the setting and ambiance. (In fact, we had considered calling it KamaSutreehouse when setting up the website!.) It's not just romantic though it's really fun for the kids. The setting is so private, surrounded by such natural beauty that one cannot help but be inspired. My favorite romantic details are the fireplace and the bed perched high up in the loft where you're surrounded by windows looking out at the moon and stars at night and native trees, birds and cloud formations by day, the low ceilinged double futon bed approached by inside later ( which is mostly for kids) and also accessible by crawling under the Master Bed ( about 5 feet up). The Sky-Walk 90 feet out into the forest is the latest whimsical and fun additions. The location is great it's very private and quiet, hidden in the rainforest yet it's only 3 miles from Volcano Village and 5 miles from the park entrance. Some guests a never leave the Treehouse. The TreeHouse is at 2860 feet above sea level, plus 20 ft. for the TreeHouse, and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is at a little over 4000 feet above seas level for the viewing of the glow from the vent at a mile distance, on the edge of the crater. For the most comprehensive information about the island and local area, I recommend the book, The Big Island Revealed. The main attraction locally, of course, is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and the hiking thru lava fields, lava tubes and even across the floors of craters. Volcano Village is well known as a premier artist colony and is home to many scientists, as well. Hilo is 25 miles away and has many attractions, including a new, state of the art astronomy museum that shouldn't be missed. Magical Hawaiian Getaway

We loved staying at Skye's treehouse! It truly is a piece of art, and feels like a really special experience. The area is very secluded and private, with the entrance through a secret door making it feel even more like you're in your own little world. Skye was a great host, and even brought by treehouse tshirts for us and our daughter, which was a sweet gesture. Not your childhood treehouse!

Skye’s place was magical- there’s really no other way to describe it. The covered deck was fantastic for yoga in the rain, or just meditating while listening to the birds and frogs. The kitchen was better than any regular camp-kitchen, including a two-burner gas stove (no oven) and a 3/4 sized fridge (not “full-size”, but larger than a bar fridge by a lot), and all of the basics for good cooking. Eating “at home” was easy; cooking while surrounded by the sites of the rainforest was incredible. The treehouse had lots of space- it was very comfortable. Lots of windows made waking up early easy- again, surrounded by the sights of the forest (just make sure you go to bed early too!). This was a truly unique experience. Highly recommend! If we return to Hawaii again, we will definitely stay here again!

The Tree House was magical! I loved all the creative touches that had been woven into Skye's architecture. My kids and I loved experiencing the first light of morning ascend around us in the lofted bed. The rainforest sounds were soothing, and the covered walkway was a tranquil place to do eat meals, do yoga, and star-gaze.

What a magical place! We miss it already. The house is Nestled amongst the beautiful trees and flowers with ample windows around to view the birds and lush forest. Our party was 4 adults and our two kids. The kids loved the hidden beds and the ladder. At night we sat under the outdoor area and listened to the rain. Really, what a treasure! We won’t forget our stay.

Such a beautiful space. Easy check in. So relaxing. Did not want to leave. Comfy bed. Welcoming host. Unbelievable photo opportunities. Volcano Village is right up the road with plenty of food options. Can not wait to stay again.

Amazing treehouse! Everything from the paths to the house, the structure itself, and the art that fills the place were lovely and filled with whimsical details to discover. This place is one of the most tranquil spots I’ve ever visited, with 360 forest canopy views on all levels and a bed that feels like sleeping among the stars. Unbelievable find - we loved it and so did our kids! We never wanted to leave. And Skye was a very attentive and welcoming host. I hope we have a chance to come back some day!

Don’t miss this amazing experience

What a magical place. Skye has put so much thought and creativity into this unique space. Yes there are many stairs…. it is a tree house but it is so well supplied and so beautiful a place your stress will just melt away. I truly enjoyed reading the guest book and sitting on the skyways to enjoy the environment. The guesthouse is a perfect compliment to Volcano National Park, which is less than 3 miles away. What a great experience my family and I had here.

The treehouse was very magical you can tell Michael put a lot of love into it his creativity is so inspiring. I can’t wait to come back! I had plans to do exploring and other things while staying in the treehouse but once I got there, there was no way I was leaving I went to the store stocked up on food and enjoyed the amazing vibes and beautiful sounds of nature. The flowers everywhere are a great touch! The view of the sunrise in the morning is incredible. 10/10 recommend!

Best sleep of my life

I don’t think there are words that can even begin to describe how incredible our stay at the treehouse was. I seriously had the best sleep of my life here. None of us wanted to leave. We loved all the art and creativity that went into this place. Every little detail too. Everywhere I turned i would see a new surprise! My daughter absolutely loved it. Book it!! You won’t be disappointed.

Stay at the dreamy Treehouse!

We stayed at the Treehouse for three magical nights and I wish it could have been longer. My favorite part was the fireplace (basically) ON the table and morning coffee on the lanai. My tween loved sleeping in the secret/hidden loft. Every time I looked around the Treehouse I discovered something new. You really feel secluded from others...I could only see another structure off in the distance in one direction - other than that it was all jungle views from the enormous windows. Skye was away for the holiday but Jerry (his associate) shared his favorite nearby places. This was my first Hipcamp experience and all went smoothly.

Unbelievably exotic and surreal!

Along with lava tube tours, volcano exploration, and snorkeling with sea life, staying here NEEDS to be on your list of things to do. This tree house is legitimately an actual Dr Seuss treehouse with multiple levels that has living trees holding it up, going into it, and out through the roof. From the design, use of materials, to even it’s unique architecture, everything about it is a fine work of art and engineering. It is best identified as that childhood dream home you sketched, and brought to real life. It is central jungle and every bit as exotic, and more, than you can imagine. Even the walkway leading to it feels like something out of a fairytale. It comes 100% equipped with everything you need to stay including a hot shower, flushing toilet, and is sealed tight to keep unwanted critters out, including mosquitoes. It is extremely private and purely relaxing. The sky bed is at the top of the jungle canopy and provides a great night rest with frogs serenading you to sleep. The suspended walkway through the rain forest is magical and allows for enchanted meals / coffee. The romance level is 4000/10, and pictures just simply do not give this place even close to the justice that it deserves. It was perfect for our honeymoon and hands down the place we have ever stayed by a significant margin. If you are lucky enough to find this available and get to stay here, you will never forget this place. I’m STILL dreaming about it and it’s been a week.

Highlight of our trip, must see!

We stayed 3 nights in the treehouse last week and it was the highlight of our trip! Met the owner when we checked in, it took him 6 years to build it. Such a unique experience and we absolutely loved sitting outside under the covered patio enjoying coffee in the morning. 10min drive from Volcano NP. Nicely appointed, equipped with everything and the owner even provided coffee beans for the morning cup of Joe! Definitely plan to return on our next visit to the island!

Hands-down, one of the coolest tree houses I’ve ever seen!! You need to come out and stay at His Place, meet Michael and his doggos and explore explore explore. Or just stay comfortably and one of his crazy treehouses ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The most beautiful place

This was the most ideal and idyllic place for a vacation. The treehouse itself is a genuine work of art. The more you spend time in it, the more the little details, quirks, craft and wit are revealed. I miss the rainforest, the coqui, the smell of the pink ginger. I need to go back!

This was a magic experience!!! The treehouse sets in the middle of the tropical forest, accessible 5 minutes from main highway and near volcano national park. Michael was there to explain us and show us around! The house is well equipped and the kids were amazed by the decor and built. This is really a good deal, probably the cheapest experience on big island! I strongly recommend! Malaho
