I have lived on the east flank of Mauna Loa at about 1,000-feet elevation for about fourteen years now. The cabin is a little retreat in a tropical jungle of singing birds, blooming flowers, and lush greenery. Getting around: The Hale is ~25 minutes from Hilo Airport (ITO) and ~2 hours from Kona Airport (KOA). I am central to local attractions, markets, and surf spots in the Hamakua-Hilo-Pahoa areas.
