Camp for a Cause. Glamp to Give Back. Every stay supports the care of 95+ rescued horses and our equine wellness programs. Escape crowded campgrounds. Raison D'Etre Ranch is a private, gated 120-acre eco-sanctuary, home to Journey with Equus, a 501c3 non profit. We are perfectly centered for exploration: approx 43 miles to downtown Denver, 45 miles to downtown Colorado Springs, and within 2 hours or less to many mountain getaways and sightseeing. Day-trip easily, then return to a secure haven shared with rescued horses, cows, goats, and wildlife (deer, bald eagles, hawks). Unplug under the stars knowing your stay matters. Your Luxury Glamping Experience Retreat to a private canvas tent designed for comfort without "roughing it": Comforts: Queen bed with cotton linens, a hammock in the trees, and a personal seating/grill area. Solar Power: Powered by a silent, sustainable solar battery system. Amenities: In-tent fridge, Keurig with local coffee, and a complimentary round of local welcome kombucha. Add-Ons & Experiences (Select at Checkout) Nightly S'mores Kit ($15): Premium s'mores supplies ready for your grill. Extra Local Kombucha: Add an extra stash of local kombucha to your fridge. Guided Experiences (Book in Advance): Book a private session to meet the herd, hear rescue stories, walk/groom a horse, or join an equine wellness session. 📋 Sanctuary Policies & Check-In As a secure, working sanctuary, we maintain strict rules to protect our residents: Fire Safety (County Burn Ban): Elbert County has a strict wood burning ban. No open wood fires permitted. This includes a strict ban on burning sticks or wood in the propane fireplace. Use only the provided propane/grill setups. Dog Policy: Well-behaved dogs are welcome for $10 per dog, per night. Dogs must be leashed at all times—no off-leash roaming allowed for the safety of your dog and our animals. Add this fee as an "EXTRA" during booking. Arrival by 7:00 PM Required: Standard check-in is 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Arriving before dark makes navigation easier and minimizes disruption to animals. Late Check-In (7:00 PM – 10:00 PM): Only with prior notice; subject to a $10 late fee. No arrivals after 10:00 PM under any circumstances. Quiet hours: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM.Nestled in whispering Ponderosa pines, our 16-foot boho-style bell tent offers a secluded escape where nature’s soundtrack replaces everyday noise and the scent of sun-warmed pine and butterscotch fills the air. Inside: a cozy queen bed, featuring a new Zinna green tea and active charcoal mattress, with soft cotton linens, warm boho décor, and beds for your pups—because they’re family too. For comfort and convenience, you’ll also find: • An Anker Solix EverFrost 40L electric cooler for drinks and snacks • An Anker Solix power station to charge phones or laptops • A single-serve Keurig and electric tea kettle with cream, sugar, tea, and coffee • A box fan for warm days Outside: enjoy a hammock for lazy afternoons, private seating with solar lights, and your own propane fire pit—perfect for stargazing nights and cool night air. Wildlife is part of the backdrop here—pronghorn, wild turkeys, coyotes, and vibrant birds. Adding to the soundtrack are rescued horses, donkeys, and goats living safely at the sanctuary, reminding us daily of the power of second chances. This is a working ranch—alive with donkeys braying, horses neighing, roaming wildlife, uneven paths, and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. Raw, real, and exactly as nature intended. Your Stay Has Purpose Our ranch is home to a nonprofit sanctuary giving discarded horses and other animals a second chance. When you book with us, you’re not just finding a restful getaway—you’re directly funding hay, feed, medical care, and the promise that these animals will never be discarded again. Your stay supports their healing and their role in helping people heal too. Our rescued horses aren’t just survivors—they’re partners in human growth, teaching trust, connection, and resilience. It’s more than glamping—it’s an act of compassion. An invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and know your stay changes lives—theirs and yours.
