Double bookings and Uncomfortable
This was a very odd experience. We booked one of the tents, and upon arrival, both of them had guests already in there. I called Dennis (who was very nice) and he said he had somewhere else we could stay, which he said was nicer than the tent. He mentioned how between VRBO and hip camp, double bookings happen frequently.
The room he showed had a scattering of totes, trash bags of sheets, and truly looked like a storage room. I’ve slept in some not-so-normal places in my life, so I feel I am pretty open to unique places to crash, but this was not great.
He then offered a eurovan which was clean, but there were empty bags of potting soil, a machete and other random items inside.
I was in a tight spot, so I said that the van would work. My brother and his girlfriend slept in there and the rest of us just slept on the ground.
He mentioned he was fine with us crashing outside, but when I was at the concert, he texted and said it wasn’t okay since there were raccoon and bear concerns. It sounds like he ended up putting more overflow guests in the storage room bed. It seemed like he was trying to get the biggest bang for his buck.
Overall communication was not great, the accommodations mix up didn’t seem like a one time issue, and the alternative solutions did not make me feel comfortable.
I don’t typically leave negative reviews, I don’t typically ask for money back, but in this situation, I think it’s important to share my experience.
