Did you know the Milky Way has color? Come experience night skies like you have never seen them before! Look up when the next meteor shower is and reserve your spot. Most visitors love the serene atmosphere and want to get away from it all. You can explore 45 of our acres and access 45 acres of land locked BLM lands. A quick 5 min drive away is endless BLM and public lands. The land is around 10 miles from the town of Naturita which has a restaurant, atv rentals, a bar, a grocery store, thrift store, library, consignment store, dispensaries and gas stations. Naturita is an amazing place for Dark Sky viewing, hiking, camping, biking, and scenic drives. The outdoor recreation opportunities are endless. It is very close (driving) to the Dolores River. The land is surrounded by BLM and near the Uncompahge National Forest. The Dark Sky campsite is also close to the Unaweep/Tabegauche Scenic and Historic Byway. We are about 2 hours from Moab, UT! We go to Moab to get sushi. Come here to get away from it all! The land itself offers incredible mountain views. You park at the tree line with desert Sage brush views to the East, Pinion and Juniper trees with a private canyon and beautiful rock formations to the West. Just North is 45 acres of landlocked BLM public land walking distance from the campsite. Unit 70 for the hunters who know how legendary this area is. Our land has an obstacle course, private paintball/gel blaster/nerf field, seasonal lake, trails, canyon, elevation gains and drops. Pets are encouraged to join you.

Site 3 has multiple places to park and multiple tent site locations. 3 campfire rings are included in this area. One campfire ring has a really nice view, another is extremely private and the third is at the edge of an elevation change where large rocks provide for natural seating. Site 3 is one of our favorites for local campers. The dark sky viewing from this campsite is breathtaking! Walking distance to landlocked BLM land. No bathroom at this campsite (real camping). This area used to be called (Site #4) for returning guests.

This is the first campsite you will get to once you pass the paintball and gellyball fields. The primitive camp toilet is closest to this campsite. There is an area for 4 vehicles to park at the tree line. Inside the tree line around 40ft is the campfire and campground. Once at the campsite you can walk north around 80 ft to see a nice view towards the north and northwest. You can see the paintball field from the parking area but not from the campsite area.

Site 4 is our furthest campsite on our property to the north. 2 campfire rings are in this area. The larger one is a few feet away from the property line to land locked BLM land (45 acre square). There is no fence. This is a private perfect camping site for hunting or for dark sky star gazing depending on what time of year you come to visit. Parking available for multiple vehicles. No bathroom at this campsite.

Site 3 has a small parking area and an extremely secluded campsite area. The campfire ring and flat area for tents is a short walk from the parking area. There is elevation change on this walk. Once you arrive at the flat area near the campfire ring there is room for over a dozen tents. No bathrooms are at this site. This is a very private area to place your tents. Perfect for star gazing and watching meteor showers.

Camping at Dark Sky Paradise is always a wonderful experience! We return every year to enjoy the quiet and solitude. Sonny is a fantastic host and made sure we were able to locate the fire wood we requested and communicated with us whenever we had questions. I highly recommend this camp spot to enjoy the beautiful stars, gorgeous terrain and incredible views. Ridgeway is not far away and we always enjoy taking time to visit Orvis Hot Springs for a day. Do yourself a favor and make time to enjoy this unique place!

Beautiful secluded property! I will stay again😁 I loved the choice in where to set up because there is plenty of space. I didn’t see anyone else while I was there. My dog enjoyed the space too!

Naturita's Secret Dark Sky Paradise

This was the second time camping at Sonny’s property and it was fantastic! Sonny communicates well and the directions are spot on. It was our annual Winter Camping trip and it was exactly what we wanted. It is perfectly located near Naturita, Norwood and Ridgway. It is secluded enough to get a break from people, close enough to town for any supplies and a short trip to Ridgway if you want to get a soak in at Orvis Hot springs. I highly recommend checking it out for the dark skies, abundant stars and beautiful mountain vistas!

An absolute gem and fantastic host!

Naturita's Secret Dark Sky Paradise

Sonny was a fantastic host and responded to our texts almost immediately! As we were arriving after dark, finding the correct turn off would have been difficult without his quick reply and great instructions. The spot is absolutely beautiful with lots of Juniper trees in the area. Coyotes can be heard at night with lots of wildlife in the area. If you are looking for solitude without a soul for miles, this is your spot. The small towns of Naturita and Red Vale are relatively close when you need to grab some extra supplies. I will definitely be returning soon!

Best camping experiences ever!

Naturita's Secret Dark Sky Paradise

This dark sky camping site was amazing!! The peace and serenity that surrounded me day and night was perfect! Just the sounds of nature and your own inner vibration. Not having water or power hookups was never missed. My spot was perfectly set to witness gorgeous sunsets and sunrises. But most of all the Perseid meteor shower and the bright beautiful Milky Way were the best I've ever seen!! I loved and really enjoyed my time here so much that I'll definitely go back!!

Naturita's Secret Dark Sky Paradise

We came for dark skies and solitude and we got them! It's desert beauty, scraggy and hot, but very peaceful. It's important to be aware that the main site is right next to a paint ball course (tires, sandbags, that sort of thing) -- if you have tent(s) you can park there at the main site and walk in away from that -- there's a nice big fire pit (so a big group would have good space to hang out) and as promised a primitive toilet arrangement. However, we had a trailer and so if we'd stayed in that spot our view from where we parked would have been of the tires and sandbags. Luckily, Sonny told us to go ahead and drive past the main spot and there was a nice area -- big enough to turn around -- where we stopped that was plenty scenic. But no firepit or toilet there -- so be aware of that (we had our own portable loo so no worries for us). We had a little hiccup upon arrival because the sign wasn't up, but Sonny answered the phone right away and was very helpful.
